How can the White Stripes be on the bill, didn’t they split in a not nice manner? Or am I totally misinformed…
MW | 2/13/2007, 4:25 pm EST
wow! Thats quite the line-up!
Long live the Stripes | 2/13/2007, 4:28 pm EST
You are totally misinformed.
nonny | 2/13/2007, 4:32 pm EST
I think it needs more Max.
Chuck | 2/13/2007, 4:45 pm EST
Wow…that is some good stuff. Wish I coulda gone last year though…
Wow | 2/13/2007, 4:46 pm EST
What a fool. I think you should know better than to publish rumors based off SCREEN GRABS that any schmo can make. Good work RS.
The Ruse Isn't... | 2/13/2007, 4:50 pm EST
good enough to play Bonnaroo
Jimmy | 2/13/2007, 4:52 pm EST
what a wird lineup for bonnaroo, but hey i like it!
Sophie | 2/13/2007, 4:54 pm EST
Why cant i be in Tennessee right now?!
radiochild | 2/13/2007, 4:59 pm EST
White stripes and tool should not be there…but i am down for taking them out and putting My morning jacket and moe back at the fest…but one thing is for sure if this is for real this could end up being the best guest list ever for widespread…remember bonnaroo 02 still the best
Wayne | 2/13/2007, 5:00 pm EST
Jesus. That’s a hell of a line up. Tool AND the Police?!? Yes please! Glad to see Rodrigo y Gabriela on the bill, too. I LOVE them!
Mike27 | 2/13/2007, 5:17 pm EST
Fuck my morning jacket and moe
Ishmael | 2/13/2007, 5:19 pm EST
That’s insane. But here’s the real question: if you could choose free passes (all expenses paid) to either Bonnaroo or Coachella, which would you choose? Bonnaroo has the Police, Tool, the White Stripes (well, just read the above RS topic post), but Coachella has Crowded House, Rage Against the Machine, Bjork, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Jesus & Mary Chain, Arcade Fire, the Decemberists, Willie Nelson, Happy Mondays, the Roots (Oh, hell, I could go on, but just Google it; your jaw will drop – I guarantee it). Bonnaroo is tempting, but I think I’d still pick Coachella.
Brittany | 2/13/2007, 5:21 pm EST
Right now I hate living in CT and being 15. I can’t believe this lineup. My three favorite bands are playing; Wolfmother, The White Stripes, & Apollo Sunshine! I want to go!!!
jimmy dean | 2/13/2007, 5:21 pm EST
No My Morning Jacket. NOOOOOOOOOOO!
They practically own Bonnaroo now they ave to go! Tool? I rather see Jim James rip it up
A.J. | 2/13/2007, 5:27 pm EST
as a multi year bonaroo veteran im a little skeptical about tool, although i respect the hell out of them i think they are a little to hard for bonaroo, ive been to a tool show and i wonder how that scence will mix with the mellow bonaroo atmosphere, after all the atmosphere is a large part of what makes bonaroo such a special event, i am also a little over panic, but oh well im stoked as hell about the police, the stripes, and wilco
one last thing, what happened to pearl jam? i heard that was a pretty sure thing from a couple of sources
TheDude | 2/13/2007, 5:31 pm EST
yeah, My Morning Jacket is the one glaring omission. How can Bonnaroo hold council without Mr. Mayor Jim James….. hopefully they are added in one of the many to come artist additions. As for Bonnaroo or Coachella, most definitly Bonnaroo. Better crowds, better set up, longer set lists. The whole vibe of Bonnaroo trumps Coachella. Not that Coachella isn’t amazing but even Bonnaroo rolls of the tongue that much better. You can taste the sweetness in your mouth.
John | 2/13/2007, 5:43 pm EST
Is it me or is Lauren Gitlin the most unfunny writer of our time. Wait, cant be a real writer if you write for RS.com
B-digs | 2/13/2007, 5:50 pm EST
It’s good, though it’s essentially a list of artists who’ve played Coachella the last couple of years. I’ll see who’s playing each day before I decide to go…I’d go for The Police, White Stripes, Hold Steady, and Annuals, but otherwise, the bands I want to see I’ve either already seen at Coachella or I’m seeing this year.
And yeah, the Coachella lineup is much better. Last year, Bonnaroo had a superior lineup. This year, Coachella takes the cake.
J | 2/13/2007, 6:22 pm EST
YES! THE WHITE STRIPES ARE BACK!!!
This will put an end to all of those “Jack is enjoying the Raconteurs so much he’s not playing with Meg anymore” rumors.
I knew they’d come back. Will this lead to a new album?
Sunny | 2/13/2007, 6:29 pm EST
Holy shit! That is an impressive lineup….
Joe | 2/13/2007, 7:11 pm EST
Tool!!!!!!! will go just to see them
sassy2180 | 2/13/2007, 7:47 pm EST
OMG is right Tool!!?? Ween??!! The Roots??!! I’m there,my shit is packed…..
Albert Pujols | 2/13/2007, 8:14 pm EST
I was a bit disappointed by The Police at the Grammys. Have been a long time fan and after the great performance by Prince at the SB, had great hopes for the Police. But they played about two minutes – and Roxanne, while it was the breakout song for the band 30 years ago, is far from their best – why not synchronicity or sync II?
Dr. Ralph | 2/13/2007, 8:16 pm EST
Yeah… go to Coachella. Nobody in Nashville can drive down I-24 when the bonaroonies invade. Of course you do get a contact high somewhere around Tullahoma or Manchester.
james | 2/13/2007, 8:18 pm EST
I neeed Jim James!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
James | 2/13/2007, 8:50 pm EST
No Radiohead or My Morning Jacket… kinda disappointing…
dustbust | 2/13/2007, 9:22 pm EST
is widespread panic or the white stripes going to be the third headliner with tool and stuart copeland?

where is radiohead?
joe | 2/13/2007, 11:12 pm EST
dude! the police, tool, the white stripes and the future of rock and roll itself wolfmother?!?!?!? HOW MUCH??????? I NEED TO KNOW!!
Jack | 2/14/2007, 12:55 am EST
Really the only exciting thing there is the white stripes. Mostly because it means they still exist. Last year was way better hands down.
snakpakzach71 | 2/14/2007, 1:24 am EST
This festival has moved from its original jam band roots and evolved in to the “good music” festival. Anyone who denies the musicianship of these artists doesn’t really get music. At Bonnaroo this year there’s somethin for everyone. Dont worry bout MMJ, this is only the INITIAL line-up. Hell Oysterhead wasn’t on the initial line up last year and that blew peoples minds. If your on the fence(and i dont know why anyone would be) just wait a little bit for the rest of the line-up to unfold. This is THE ALL GOOD FESTIVAL(yes i know there’s already one named that calm down!) MMJ will join dont worry, and there’s somethin on the horizon thats gonna blow peoples minds trust me! See you in Manchester!!
edward | 2/14/2007, 3:17 am EST
where is my morning jacket…seriously… they are bonnaroo
lets talk about the good first:
aesop rock
wolfmother
apollo sunshine…
all good additions
there are obvious good returns:
the slip
ben harper
& the usuals…
the UGLY:
Tool?, too weird for me, their fans are weirdos too… bad vibes man
the white stripes: overrated, try taking some drum lessons…the black keys willl blow them out of the water…
Dr RALOOM | 2/14/2007, 3:23 am EST
Hi,
I LOST MY BATHROOM YESTERDAY!!!! Can someone check the hangar??
Fortunate Son | 2/14/2007, 8:16 am EST
Tool is better suited for the CD player of a High School Goth’s car. No the roo. If they expect a bunch of tatooted slam dancing freaks then they are real mistaken.
Bring back the My Morning Jacket!
Jim James please please please come you own roo!
Justin | 2/14/2007, 8:56 am EST
Anyone who simply discards Tool as a “Goth” band for “Goth” kids is missing out on one of the mose musically talented bands in the last few decades. They belong at Bonnaroo too. But the WHite Stripes, Gov’t Mule, Widespread Panic, the Black Keys, the Decemberists, Kings of Leon, Ziggy Marley, The Flamig Lips, Ben Harper, Wilco, Regina Spektor, Wolfmother, John Butler Trio, Sam Roberts Band, Lewis Black, David Cross…. I MEAN C’MON… it’ll be disappointing if anything. There’s no way you’ll be able to see everyone you want to see!!
JJ | 2/14/2007, 9:20 am EST
Tool’s the most interesting act at this show. Hopefully they’ll be given a 10:00pm showtime.
JJ | 2/14/2007, 9:21 am EST
Gov’t Mule is pretty tight as well. And who doesn’t like Ween?
Where are the Melvins though?
Oli | 2/14/2007, 11:45 am EST
I feel sorry for anyone who really thinks TOOL isn’t worth Bonaroo time – You really wouldn’t know good music if it slapped you in the face and said “Hey, look you closed-minded jerkface, I’m great music!” And guys, let’s leave the TOOL-fan stereotypes out of this one, OK? Cuz that’s such a lame low blow. All I can say I guess is that if you think TOOL sucks or their fans, then good or you, stay away, and I’ll be ble to get closer to the stage. You disappoint me.
L | 2/14/2007, 2:12 pm EST
Not bad, but i’d LOVE to see MMJ or Umphrey’s, if not both, I mean come on, theyve been there every year!
Greg | 2/14/2007, 11:53 pm EST
If you remember Trey Astasio said if there was one band he wanted to headline Bonnaroo it was Tool in a issue of Rolling Stone and it seems like his wish was granted.
Greg | 2/14/2007, 11:54 pm EST
I also think that My Morning Jacket will be added there is no fucking way they wont be there.
Agreed... | 2/15/2007, 4:25 am EST
To all you Tool-haters out there: I’ll put this nicely…you obviously have not seen them live or don’t appreciate good music. Goth? please. I don’t dye my hair black, wear black clothes and mascara. I’m just an average joe. I saw them live at a festival in Belgium last summer and they’re the most psychedelic kickass rock band. Give them a chance at bonnaroo and you won’t be disappointed.
EBMC | 2/20/2007, 1:34 am EST
Bonnaroo is about exploring all kinds of music people, as soon as you start bashing tool and tool fans, you start creating the bad vibes. Besides, you’re a n00b if you dont recognize tool as a vulgar display of musical precision and emotion. They are massive, just massive, give them one chance to rock your socks off..
Good lineup | 2/20/2007, 2:00 am EST
the expirience is worth it…i am a lil jealous of coachella and rage against the machine (and last year with daft punk)… I would do both if possible but being on th east coast bonnaroo is for me. this is a nice lineup…not to mention they always add tons of more people before its said and done. its a great lineup so far but i expect a few more good additions. how about dj shadow!
shrimpy | 2/20/2007, 9:55 am EST
ratdog/bob wier…yeah man
ec | 3/8/2007, 4:22 pm EST
i think this years bonnaroo fest is going to be one of the very best.
The mere fact that they are venturing into accually being a “music and arts fest” and not giving into some kina pandering for what people have come to expect says something to the cordinaters abilty to not give in to what people want and force unity. I mean is that not what these fesivals are all about in the first place?
