Lunchtime Poll: Cocktails At Seven

2/12/07, 12:13 pm EST

You’re having a dinner party. And you’re only inviting rock stars. In addition to sending invitations to the usual collection of individuals whose albums have changed your life, you decide to get crazy and invite someone whose records you don’t necessarily love but who has always amused you. For example, maybe you’re not madly in love with John Mayer’s music, you can appreciate his conversational skill (and the fact that last night at the Grammy awards he answered Ryan Seacrest’s query about Jessica Simpson in fluent Japanese). What rock star do you invite for their personality alone?

Steven Tyler. Don’t ask me why, he just seems like he’d be fun to have hanging around.

If Goodman will let me host it at her place, I’m inviting either Gallagher brother. Otherwise, I’m inviting a reincarnated Dean Martin to keep things cool.

Panic! At The Disco.I’m pretty much into the band and their spectacular songs/concerts,Brandon’s voice is very fascinating.I would also bring either Trina or Khia as my date, and not just because of their inevitable voluptuous figures. They both do have that sensuous,no holds barred flow in their music, despite that some of their material is unappealing.Sealing the deal with one of them-VIP style-can’t avoid that(wink).

Okay, credit where credit is due – this is actually a decent topic. No question – Biz Markie. Weird, goofy, and endlessly entertaining. No wonder the Beastie Boys pal around with him.

I’d invite…hmm…Regina Spektor, Sufjan Stevens, definitely Lily Allen, all the guys from State Radio because they’re liberals who actually mean what they say, and..oh, yeah. I’d invite James Blunt, just so the other guests could make fun of him.
