Contents of Grammy Gift Bags Revealed, Dr. Dre’s New Career Negotiated, Genesis to Play Dramatic Free Gig

Grammys Gift Bag

  • Cee Lo once told us he enjoys a good pedicure, so we’re sure he’ll be into the “Bootie Pies: Pedicure Boots for Posh Toe” he’ll be receiving in his Grammy Gift Bag. Also reportedly included in the giant sack of swag: An iPod stereo system, HeelStraps shoe straps and a copy of Guitar Hero II. Celebs: Don’t forget to itemize.
  • What Dr. Dre really wants to do is direct. The legendary hip-hop impresario has signed a production deal (via his Crucial Films production company) with New Line Cinema. According to reports, the terms include multiyear feature production, with an emphasis on “dark comedies” and, potentially, horror movies. “This is a natural switch for me, since I’ve directed a lot of music videos,” Dre reportedly said.
  • The Gabriel-free version of Genesis will start their reunion tour (dubbed “Turn It On Again”) in Helsinki on June 11th and will finish on July 14th with a huge free concert at Rome’s Circo Massimo. This will be extremely awesome.
  • This spring Patti Smith will tour the U.K. and Ireland in support of her new covers album Twelve, out April 16th, in the U.K. Can U.S. dates be far behind?
  • Morrissey would like to be laid to rest near Johnny Ramone, please. The famously morbid crooner paid a visit to the Hollywood Forever cemetery in Los Angeles, took a walk around and decided that was the place for him. “I stumbled across Johnny Ramone’s stone and thought it was very nicely placed,” the Mozzer reportedly said. “I sat there for a long time and I felt quite good about it. It was nice his bones were under the soil I was sitting on. So yeah, that’s my spot. I am considering putting money down to reserve a spot there. Death is a serious thing, certainly not to be sneezed at.” Word.

Will Dr. Dre be collaborating with Ed Lover again? ‘Cause that would be totally tubular.

I can already hear Johnny Ramone’s skeleton clawing its way out of its grave. I’m sure Morrissey will stick around for a few more decades of crap music, so Johnny has time.

What’s awesome about Genesis again? It seems against all odds that in this land of confusion there’s one person under 50 who wants to feel Genesis’ invisible touch.
