Playlist of the Day: Anna Nicole, R.I.P.

2/8/07, 4:56 pm EST

Anna Nicole Smith
Her life had the rise to fame of a Hollywood script — poor small-town girl gets noticed as a stripper, becomes a Playmate, successful model, sometime-actress, and marries a billionaire — and ended in a quick succession of tragedies no script could possibly contain: an endless battle over her late husband’s will that went to the Supreme Court, very public battles with weight gain and drug abuse, the sudden death of her son just days after she gave birth to a daughter, a drawn-out paternity fight over that daughter’s real father and only a few days ago, a lawsuit against TrimSpa, the weight loss company for which she was a spokeswoman. No doubt the next days and weeks will produce more details about the circumstances surrounding her unexpected death at the Hard Rock Hotel in Hollywood, Florida, but for the time being, here’s a list of songs to say goodbye to a life in the limelight cut short.

  • “Anna Begins” — Counting Crows
  • “Candle in the Wind” — Elton John
  • “Time to Say Goodbye” — Sarah Brightman & Andrew Bocelli
  • “My Curse” — Afghan Whigs
  • “So Long, Savannah” — Eric Bachmann
  • “When You Read This I’ll Be Gone” — Paul K & the Weathermen

Is it just me, or does the idea of a playlist, just minutes after the announcement of her death, seem a little bit tawdry, even for Rolling Stone? Have some respect. Whether you loved or hated her, she was still a human being and deserves better than to be a hot topic for a trivial blog thread.

She is a human being who deserves the respect that alot of people don’t give her. What would you have done if 3 days after giving birth to a baby girl, your son dies? Well whatever she did, was her decision and she shouldn’t be bashed for not handling her life the way people want her to. Rest in Peace! Vikki. Anna was hollow. She lived her life in pursuit of the dark side of human nature. The same problems have plagued mankind since the beginning: pride, greed, envy, jealously, etc. Anna was one who believed “all that glitters is gold” and she lived her life by that belief. As a result, her life was cursed. Now her immortal soul shall never rest again.

Anna was hollow? Shut up white. She was a blond bimbo with a big rack and made the most of it by banging the dust out of a billionaire and selling her whoreness. God bless the white trash gold digger. For $40 million dollars, I doubt I’d bang a 90 year old. So tell Jesus to hate her white, but my penis will be morning for some time for this loss.

As I was enjoying the *ahem* commentary about Smith’s legacy, I couldn’t help but compare her to Princess Diana. Diana died (almost directly) from media pressure. If, as is the most likely case, Smith’s death was a suicide, it’s more than probable that she killed herself from a lack of media attention. She had paparazzi on her for the past 13 years, and this attention became her. Recently, she had a lawsuit filed against her and even the Enquirer considered her a dud story. Sorry, here’s my song:

It’s a disgrace what some people have written about Anna Nicole. These comments speaks volumes about our world today. No one has any idea what went on behind closed doors.Yes, she was obviously under the influence, but why didn’t someone try to help her? The loss of her son was simply more than she could take. May Anna Nicole find the peace in death she never had in life.

Because of her magnanimity and charity, Princess Di’s death was a true tragedy. Similarly, when one of our boys in Iraq dies, that’s also deeply tragic. However, when someone like Anna Nicole Smith, a woman of dubious character so monumentally inconsequential, dies, it’s SOLELY the responsibility of those who loved and respected her to grieve. Everyone dies.

Angel | 2/9/2007, 3:46 pm EST

How about “Everybody Loves You When You’re Dead” by Cop Shoot Cop? Nothing gives an inconsequential person a soul like dying young.

lion75 | 2/9/2007, 4:34 pm EST

Angel, does this alleged materialization of a soul in untimely death (I’m still trying to contain my laughter) guarantee a favorable afterlife? I think not. How did this woman’s existence benefit you, your family, or anything you value in life? I suspect it didn’t.

Similarities to Steve Irwin’s demise abound. Although quantum-worlds (and personalities)apart, ANS and Irwin now have something horribly in common: media interest in their daughters.

The bottom-feeding media is currently stroking itself selling copy off the back of Steve’s daughter Bindi. Anna-Nicole’s daughter is in for a whole world of hurt.

I can’t believe some of the inhuman negative garbage posted here about Anna Nicole. She lost her son. Obviously, it took a horrible toll on her heart and soul. Anna Nicole was a bright, dazzling ray of sunlight in the entertainment business. She was very unique. She made us laugh, cry and gave many aspiring entertainers hope that ambition, personality & determination can make you a star.

Gaz | 2/11/2007, 3:55 am EST

She married the old guy. She was an opportunist. Who isn’t? She was a blonde airhead bimbo… We all have our faults. She had problems. We have ours. She’s dead..we’re not yet.
