- It’s a dark time for soul stars. Grammy Award winning pianist Joe Hunter (of the Funk Brothers), who played with Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Martha and the Vandella, and Marvin Gaye, was found dead in his apartment in Detroit on Friday. He was 79. Billy Henderson, co-founding member of the Spinners has also died, due to complications from diabetes. He was 67.
- As if Rick Rubin doesn’t have enough going on, producing Metallica, U2, and Linkin Park and pissing off Scott Weiland, now he’s reportedly been offered the job of co-chairman of Columbia Records. In order to take the gig, Warner Brothers has to let him out of his deal with them, but, according to the New York Times, it looks like that might happen.
- The Arctic Monkeys have announced the title of their forthcoming second album. The record will be called Favorite Worst Nightmare, and will reportedly come out on April 23rd. Full track list after the jump.
- If Justin Timberlake’s New Year’s resolution was to cement his position as the traveling guest performer of the year, he’s on his way.
