Why isn’t any of the media coverage of this talking about how stupid the Boston police are? Everyone’s blasting the college kids who placed the ads (come on — they were just hired to put up some ads!), the ad agency, and the Cartoon Network, but they aren’t pointing out that these ads were in a dozen different cities, and in no other city did the cops flip out like this. If you look at photos of the device on CNN, it looks like a LIte Brite — how is that a potential bomb? I know we all have to be vigilant and whatnot, but maybe after the first or second one they could have told everybody, hey, these things aren’t bombs. No, they’re too eager to get everybody freaked out. Idiots!

Isn’t it sad that the powers that be are so out of touch that they caused this to happen? And now those responsible for the ad have been arrested, but those responsible for the paranoia remain free and in public office. Perhaps if they stopped imagining their faces superimposed on Rudy Giuliani’s body on the cover of Time Magazine, they would have figured out early on what was going on instead of escalating it to the point of mass hysteria. And for all of those people who are saying that this type of SHOCK advertising has no place in a post 9/11 world, I have this to say, its been five years, your grieving has become a mental illness, so while you duck and cover, I’ll stand with my head held high because I am not afraid.
