- Die hard Seattle indie rockers Pretty Girls Make Graves are breaking up, according to the band’s MySpace page. “We are sorry to announce that our upcoming tour in May will be our last,” the message reads. “Nick [Dewitt] quit the band and the rest of us feel like it wouldn’t be right to continue on with out him.” Sad?
- Sean Lennon and Lindsay Lohan’s friendship seems to have been damaged by Lohan’s participation in Chapter 27, a film about the life of Lennon’s shooter Mark David Chapman, which Sean Lennon has called “tacky.”
- We get that we’re supposed to hate Aaron Sorkin’s admittedly heavy-handed, self-important, laughably idealistic entertainment industry drama Studio 60, but we can’t help it, we love this show. And so, apparently, do record labels, which are seeing boosts in sales from the artists (like Sting and Corinne Bailey Rae) after they appear on the show.
- Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (remember them? they were #483 on the Next Strokes list) are releasing their fourth album, Baby 81, on May 1st. Along with the Raveonettes, we think they are one of the bands most unjustly scarred via association with the The Bands wave of 2001. They are really good, and we’re psyched to hear this new album. Track list after the jump.
- Peter Gabriel wants you to use your cell phone or iPod to document human rights abuses; he’s making a film on the subject, Witness, composed entirely of amateur video footage. He also needs more money for this project, if you’re flush and interested.
- Pete Doherty reportedly asked to star in a reality show inspired, essentially, by his life. The show would follow famous rockers around as they try to get clean, which is different in absolutely no way from what the British press already does.
