Playlist of the Day: Ford Loses Shirt, Raises White Collar

1/26/07, 8:00 am EST

fordToday Ford announced the biggest loss in its history — $12.7 billion, or $24,000 per minute — but they’re still paying managers bonuses and their stock rose three percent. We don’t get this wacky eco-nomics thang…but maybe some tunes will explain it.

  • “Beat Up Ford” — Jack Ingram
  • “Ford Econoline” — Nanci Griffith
  • “Where’s Your Money” — Busta Rhymes
  • “Ghost of Corporate Future” — Regina Spektor
  • “Just What I Needed” — The Cars

Ouch! Yeah, Erwin, Jon, and Fjords 4-eva: I suck at math. $24,000 PER MINUTE is what it should be. Apologies, and good catch.

Guess I picked the wrong week to stop sniffin’ glue.
