- After that disastrous appearance at the World Music Awards in London last November, Michael Jackson has wisely decided to continue his current attempted comeback without performing, for the time being. The gloved one has made a statement announcing that he is back in the United States (after a year-ish-long self-imposed exile that took him to Bahrain, France, and Ireland) and plans to appear at several money-raising “events” in Japan in March. He won’t perform, he will just meet and greet.

- The Beastie Boys are apparently hard at work on a new album that you won’t like. Mike D recently joked that fans can “expect to be disappointed” by the group’s as-of-yet untitled new record.”We still have a little of a way to go,” Diamond said of the recording process. “I don’t want to describe it too much because whatever I say might change.
- BB King apparently spent the night in a hospital in Galveston, Texas last night. The legendary bluesman is apparently fine and should be discharged today but the reasons behind his hospitalization remain undisclosed.
- Ever wanted to own a condo in the Capitol Records building in Hollywood? You may soon get your change. Label giant EMI has announced it will merge its Virgin and Capitol record labels to help cut costs. Capitol boss Andy Slater is already out, and many Capitol staffers are concerned the entire operation will soon move east, leaving them jobless, and the landmark Capitol records building to the development vultures. This is a dark time for music.
