1/25/07, 8:48 am EST

Dakota FanningCritics say the Sundance movie Hounddog is child pornography; 12-year-old star Dakota Fanning says her chilling rape scene is OK because it’s just “acting.” Our stereo says we’ll keep that ten bucks, thanks.

  • “Child Labor Laws” — Boxer
  • “Bad Idea” — Ben Folds Five
  • “Lolita” — Paw
  • “Ordinary People Do Fucked Up Things When Fucked Up Things Become

This question is horrible!

Are you sure your not Elizabeth Goodman?

Hobie Baker | 1/25/2007, 9:21 am EST

Who the hell is going to go see this movie? I hear the director saying this kind of message needs to make its way onto the big screen, but I know I’m not going to see it.

“Rape Me” – Nirvana
“Sickfile” – Archers of Loaf
“Stacked Actors” – Foo Fighters
“Big Mistake” – Natalie Imbruglia

Bradford | 1/25/2007, 9:58 am EST

To be honest, I think watching a 13 year old girl being raped would, for me, be no worse than watching any of the gruesome torture scenes in “Passion of the Christ.”

Daughter – Pearl Jam
Breaking the Girl – RHCP
The Rescue Blues – Ryan Adams

Ouroboros | 1/25/2007, 10:02 am EST

“Cracked Actor” – David Bowie
“Seedy Films” – Soft Cell
“Kiddie Grinder” – Marilyn Manson
“Reel Around the Fountain” – The Smiths
“Hard to Handle” – The Black Crowes
“In Denial” – Pet Shop Boys

“Long Way Down”-Goo Goo Dolls
“Better Days”-Citizen King
“Have You Forgotten?”-Red House Painters
“Fond Farewell”-Elliot Smith

Oh wait, this list’s about Rolling Stone.

I love how they demonize this movie but several weeks ago had a playlist celebrating the fact Mark Foley gets with kids.

Sun Muffin | 1/25/2007, 11:07 am EST

Being an awesome Baby Boomer, I gotta give a big shout out to my main man Don Henley and his timeless masterpiece, End of the Innocence.

any.. | 1/25/2007, 11:09 am EST

i agree with dakota. i’ll go see it. i like a good controversy anyway.

JINAH | 1/25/2007, 11:19 am EST

all sex is evil! all sex is rape! we must stop all sex now in the name of GOD! oh lord have mercy upon the lowly sinners!

Scuba Steve | 1/25/2007, 11:24 am EST

the wrong way-sublime

StewDio54 | 1/25/2007, 11:40 am EST

You are spot-on Sun Muffin with that song selection from our era. Don Henley RULES!!!
Us Boomers need to stay together and celebrate!!! -Awesome
This is a tough playlist to pick a song for, but I’ll try. Here goes nothin’!
For serious wisdom and true understanding, nobody can touch Billy Joel.
Only the Good Die Young is my selection, followed closely by We Didn’t Start The Fire!!!

Judy | 1/25/2007, 11:56 am EST

“Polly”
by Nirvana

Blinked | 1/25/2007, 12:00 pm EST

I believe the parents of this child should be locked up. Then the director and producers of this film should follow. I am all for freedom of speech, but the reenactment of such a horrible scenario such as this is absolutely disgusting and is child porn, which is illegal. Here’s the play list.

The Kill-30 Seconds to Mars
Mad World-Michael Andrews
Self Esteem-The Offspring
Don’t Drag Me Down-Social Distortion

Mr. Dart | 1/25/2007, 12:07 pm EST

Hi. I’m the Devil’s Advocate.

Before demonizing a movie, shouldn’t you at least see it first? There’s a big difference between explicit content and implied content. Moreover, is child-rape a horrible thing that unfortunately happens in out society? Yes. Some people choose to be ingnorant of that fact when they really shouldn’t be.

Personally, I haven’t seen the film. I’ve only read some articles about the infamous scene.

I’m just sayin’.

Tito | 1/25/2007, 12:30 pm EST

I agree. There’s nothing intrinsicly wrong with portraying such a scene as long as its done as tastefully as possible. It may actually be a positive thing as young children could see it as a way to communicate what has happened to them

Judy | 1/25/2007, 12:37 pm EST

Anyone who gets off on a child being abused deserves to be shot & killed. That said, depicting such an act for a movie is a means of telling a story and not condoning abuse. Rather, the opposite.
The Catholics have chimed in the loudest so far, and if my memory serves, they are one of the grandest perpetrators/enablers of psycho sexual child abuse in recorded history.
As with most dysfunctions, those who scream the loudest, are typically the most frightening.

high_ball | 1/25/2007, 12:41 pm EST

“The Bad Touch” – Bloodhound Gang

Dare To Hear A Fool | 1/25/2007, 12:42 pm EST

ill see the movie, i dont care. but anyway, i think the best suggestion on here is scuba steve’s. and by the way, hobie baker, while yes, the song is called “rape me” the song is about the music industry…

Sun Muffin | 1/25/2007, 12:43 pm EST

Thanks StewDio54 :)

Judy | 1/25/2007, 12:45 pm EST

But “Polly” on the other hand IS about rape.

The Crunge | 1/25/2007, 12:54 pm EST

this critique comes from a magazine who puts Panic at the Disco on their cover. Give me a break!

Judy | 1/25/2007, 12:59 pm EST

to The Crunge. I know RS could care less about Panic! at the Disco, but are very concerned about the bottom line and these guys are selling and the little boys are buying, soo

infected mouth | 1/25/2007, 1:17 pm EST

this is really disturbing, if this passes for entertainment imagine five years from now

W. Elliot | 1/25/2007, 1:28 pm EST

This Dakota Fanning movie is as much about “entertainment” as was Schindler’s List. How blind must you people be?

I can’t tell the difference between My! Chemical Romance and Panic at the Disco, but Rolling Stone sure likes to kiss the little children’s arses in these shameless covers and stories.

Lobsters | 1/25/2007, 1:30 pm EST

They should remake this as “Hounddog Day” with Bill Murray as the rapist. Hey, I’m kidding!

A sensible man. | 1/25/2007, 1:37 pm EST

Dakota will be 13 next month, she is a woman in my eyes…

A FUCKING HOT ONE!

HotShotTony | 1/25/2007, 2:22 pm EST

Rolling Stone = Tiger Beat

Taltos1667 | 1/25/2007, 2:23 pm EST

So a 12, going on 13, year old actress is ACTING in a rape scene for a movie. How many 12, going on 13, year old girls in the world wish that they were only ACTING in a rape scene for a movie while they are actually being raped or forced to perform sexual acts because their parents sold them to provide food for the rest of the family. Oh, yeah! The men raping these young girls or abusing them sexually are white, American male sex trippers in the Far East.

asdf | 1/25/2007, 2:38 pm EST

Chill the fuck out. Jodie Foster was pretending to suck Robert DeNiro’s dick at age 13 in 1976 for Taxi Driver and that movie was awesome and she had a very level head about it.

Lip | 1/25/2007, 2:42 pm EST

HEY, RS PICKED A PROPAGANDHI SONG, THAT’S AMAZING!

No One Like You – Lagwagon

bordstiff | 1/25/2007, 3:29 pm EST

Skyline | 1/25/2007, 4:25 pm EST

Rolling Stone became the equivalent of Teen Vogue by putting the Disco Panic Bullshit Whatever on their front cover.
