Gerard Way to World: Wanna Fight, Bitches?

1/25/07, 12:36 pm EST

Gerard Way
What is it with emo boys and their need to duel? First Brandon Flowers spends most of 2005 and 2006 talking smack about everyone he can find, especially other black eyeliner aficionados like the Bravery frontman Sam Endicott, Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy, the boys from Panic! At the Disco and the entire emo genre. And now Gerard Way has announced that he’s never engaged but only because he’s never met a worthy opponent. After Kasabian’s Tom Meighan described My Chemical Romance’s music as “weird and dark” (to him, it’s derisive, his music is sunny and dull) and announced that My Chem would never last. In response, the easily goaded Way came out swinging. “This band [meaning My Chem] has never had a bullshit war ever. I haven’t found an opponent worthy enough yet,” Way boasted. “If you’re gonna take me on, you’d better have the balls for it! If you’re gonna talk shit about us, you’d better have the juice. And we haven’t found anybody with the juice yet.”

We suspect that — after an adolescence spent dateless and defending their lunch money — these formerly meek and docile boys are psyched about any chance to flex their (admittedly bulk-challenged) muscles and act like the bravado-filled jocks who used to beat them up. And for reformed nerd-filled bands like the Killers, My Chem, the Bravery, Panic! At the Disco, and Fall Out Boy, it is only with fame (which for Panic!, also happens to coincide with high school) that this opportunity comes. Notice that they rarely battle outside the emo family, and last time we checked, Pete Wentz was the only one of these dudes to actually throw down and fight (he recently attacked a security guard in Albuquerque, New Mexico). Meanwhile, the dudes from My Chem and Panic! last clashed with lager bottles onstage in England … and the bottles won.

So. We have to ask: Is there anyone out there with the “balls” and the “juice” necessary to take on My Chemical Romance? We think so. But who?

The Killers aren’t really emo

likroper.com | 1/25/2007, 12:55 pm EST

violence is just an ‘acceptable’ way for emotionally repressed men to show their sensitivity – nothing new…truly strong men do not resort to violence, as violence is for the weak of heart…

intelligence breeds dialogue ~ stupidity breeds violence…

lik roper | 1/25/2007, 1:01 pm EST

marvel at my genius observations.

Wolvaire | 1/25/2007, 1:01 pm EST

Wolvaire has balls and juice, but rarely at the same time. Besides, I would hate to see what happens to somebody when our guitar player punches them. I’ve named his arms “Strangler” and “Mangler.”

Wendy Weissman | 1/25/2007, 1:04 pm EST

Kasabian vs MCR? I’d just love to get a front row seat and watch those ladies have at it. Biggest thing since Eminem and Moby. Think about it! It would be just like a Paula Abdul/Simon Cowell joint interview: Lots of bitching, kicking, inchoherency, ego, and people doing the same show expressing their hatred of one another.

Though technically, what Kasabian said was stupid. ‘Weird and Dark’ does sound ignorant, and they talk about how their band is about respecting people and love and flowers and ponies and pixies and fairy dust and candy and and and. Yet they are always fueding with someone.

It’s NME, they love to stir this shit up. But still, I wish Gerard Way would not have said anything, but I guess after hearing Kasabian fued with the 475895465394646th artist in a row, someone had to shut those douchebag Oasis-wannabes up.

But come on? Juice? Who has the juice? Well, I’ll tell you what: I have the juice. Michael Jackson gave it to me and Jesus made it.

People with the balls to fued with MCR:
Lily Allen
Chrissie Hynde (she would destroy them)
Way’s cousin Joe Rogan
Austin Powers
Any person with ten testicles (add up for five members……oooer), which I guess include Madonna and George Carlin

Wendy Weissman | 1/25/2007, 1:09 pm EST

Oddjob: neither are Kasabian, so I guess that point this article made didn’t work

likroper: He did not mean a real fight, but a “bullshit war” which is the real quote, RS is twisting it. Actually Gerard did technically make a jibe about their intelligence saying that “that comment was meant to be a jibe, but it was so poorly worded, it turned out a compliment! ‘Weird and Dark’ that just makes them ignorant.” Rolling Stone is twisting shit up. Shame on them.

Wendy Weissman | 1/25/2007, 1:12 pm EST

Rolling Stone pretty much twisted this into something it is not. Go to the NME site to find out what Way really said. This si total bullshit. Shut the Fuck Up, Rolling Stone. And for the record, MCR did beat the bottles.

van damn | 1/25/2007, 1:18 pm EST

Oh no it attack of the emo-douches…i’d kick the “juice” outta that pinche Way anyday…”and we havent found anybody with the juice yet”, awww that so cute

Anonymous | 1/25/2007, 1:24 pm EST

Well, what does he mean by “take on” MCR? By playing louder, faster, darker?!?

I don’t understand the question.

Creativity is hard to define, and anyone who turns it into a “battle” clearly doesn’t understand it.

Having said that, I think The Darkness or the Electric Six have the gonads to take on those poseurs.

ZACH | 1/25/2007, 1:27 pm EST

ROLLING STONE! your a bunch of shit eaters!!!

HOW CAN YOU GUYS PRASE PEOPLE
AND THEN BASH THEM?!!!

LOOK WHO IS ON YOUR COVER RIGHT NOW!!!!(P@TD)

I think their taking the high road in not being in a stuip battle of bands(many have tried to fight them , mainly The USED who have a new song bashing gerard.)

shut up you homos and stop twisting Shit!
LEAVE Gerard alone he is a really nice guy, and talented too.

amotion | 1/25/2007, 1:31 pm EST

It’s obvious that he’s being sarcastic.

peter lacount | 1/25/2007, 1:34 pm EST

the killers arent emo you are correct, they just suck.

Angie | 1/25/2007, 1:38 pm EST

Kasabi-who?

can't stand rs | 1/25/2007, 1:49 pm EST

wow, rolling stones keeps getting worse and worse. This article is so pointless, and doesn’t even have to do with anything. If you don’t like the whole emo thing, than stop posting all those bands on your front covers and writing articles about them. Make up your mind.

mike from waterford | 1/25/2007, 1:56 pm EST

the killers are emo? i think rolling stone is beginning to generalize and stretch to fit their dumb stories. report on real music or get out of the business

Kliffee | 1/25/2007, 1:59 pm EST

what the fuck is emo? emo philips, the quirky comedien has a cult? should be called Lamo

Pompandpliny | 1/25/2007, 2:17 pm EST

Haha this is total crap Rolling Stone, MCR could beat the shit out of Kasabian any day.

Like all the other shitty journalists you’ve managed to twist Gerard Way’s words entirely. Just as ignorant as Kasabian themselves and the Daily Mail.

Chris | 1/25/2007, 2:28 pm EST

NONE of these bands are emo. They are party punk. Nothing more. Please don’t insult bands like Sunny Day, J.E.W and Mineral by putting them in the same group. Thanks

rockandrollgirl | 1/25/2007, 2:30 pm EST

First off, The Killers are a great rock band, say what you like people, they are fantastic.

Secondly, the Killers are certainly not EMO. RS if you are going to talk about a band (and you talk negatively enough about the Killers to get it right), get the genre right. The only thing I don’t like about the Killers is the fact that their lead singer had too much mouth and now that is all anyone can focus on, even this magazine….now…

Now for MCR– read the whole article, if you do, you will find that the lead singer didn’t say things in the context that RS is putting it in. He is responding to some things said by a Kasabian (another good rock band) band member but only in the context of that. I don’t believe he was actually saying that he wanted other bands to try and attack himself or his bandmates the way RS is portraying here. I’m not a big MCR fan,in fact I really do like Kasabian, but I don’t think it’s fair for MCR’s words to be twisted or put in a light not in context to the entire article they were a part of.

Futhermore, I never thought that RS would stoop to NME standards of starting squabbles between bands. Frankly so much of what is written by NME is twisted by other rags and people that it keeps crap going. I guess that makes it good for mags like RS– gives them something to write about.

I like the slight dig to at Panic at the Disco that is mentioned here….odd to me since they are the cover boys this month. RS is so hypocritical.

Lizzie | 1/25/2007, 2:39 pm EST

this whole article is complete bullshit.the worse article i ever read.and to answer the question at the end of the article, absolutely no i dont think anyone or any band that has the juice to take on mychem.Gerard would srsly slash you up into pieces with his sword (yes,he own one).

but whatever it is,leave Gerard and his band the fuck alone.they got no shit with other band.

jill hives | 1/25/2007, 2:40 pm EST

smoke break…

Brock Landers | 1/25/2007, 2:53 pm EST

I respect Rolling Stone, but this article is just as ignorant as the comment made by Kasabian. Every so often in the biz, their are fueds. But why just Say Emo dudes? I mean, come on. I could name 10 fueds with rock stars that are not emo. And since when are the Killers emo. Brandon Flowers would have a heart attack if he read this article. Also, Kasabian’s music is okay, but what a bunch of dumb asswholes!

Mer | 1/25/2007, 2:54 pm EST

Gerard Way is a pile of shit. Who cares what he says?

The Stranger | 1/25/2007, 3:02 pm EST

Hey rolling stone, why are you acting like a complete asshole?

Why fuck with MCR when they were being the bigger people and not responding to these petty insults with more petty insults?

that just makes you look like an asshole if you didn’t know

Blackwood | 1/25/2007, 3:22 pm EST

mmm…

I don’t think anyone can beat this guy…

seriously, how the hell could you beat a guy who has the balls to like being attacked, and that doesn’t really care after all?

that being said, I also think that he was being just ironic, and that was his funny way to say: bring it on! I don’t actually care!

plus, the more someone is dished, the more important that someone is (or should feel).

Who Cares? | 1/25/2007, 3:24 pm EST

Shit, must be a slow news day…
Is this what music is about these days? Fights between guys who won’t even matter in two years?

xyz | 1/25/2007, 3:51 pm EST

Panic at the disco…what a dumb, played, unoriginal, lame name for a band- if u wanna call them that…i will never buy RS again…Why would they be on the cover?

Mortsde | 1/25/2007, 4:04 pm EST

Wow, an article about how bands shouldn’t be able to stick up for themselves…given the context for Gerard seemed a little bit crude, but I mean, seriously…this is a poorly done article…way to fuel a dumb and already overly drawn out feud RS…way to go

Donald | 1/25/2007, 4:07 pm EST

Hillary Duff could take down the band. And a couple of them might even enjoy it.

Roz | 1/25/2007, 4:18 pm EST

The only people who actually care about this “fight” are the guys in Kasa… *checks article* oh, yeah, Kasabian.

Lauren | 1/25/2007, 4:23 pm EST

Okay, first of all, I hate the label ‘emo’. all of the bands have a unique style and deserve to be respected even though you may not like them. I think kasabian needs to keep their mouths shut. If they can’t respect other bands then they hardly deserve to be respected themselves. and my chemical romanace WILL last. They’ve been going almost 6 years i think. and it doesn’t look like they’re leaving any time soon.

A sensible man. | 1/25/2007, 4:26 pm EST

emo sux

really? | 1/25/2007, 4:36 pm EST

I took this clown’s lunch money. Hillary Duff’s teeth have enough juice. And her sister has enough balls.

are you sure? | 1/25/2007, 4:40 pm EST

Was this supposed to be on Us Weekly’s website?

Steve | 1/25/2007, 5:19 pm EST

Yeah, this article is totally weak and gossipy. Hey RS, I heard somebody say something that heard something that said they think you’re a jerk.

Steve | 1/25/2007, 5:25 pm EST

They also said you have a boyfriend that looks like a girlfriend, so there!

Steve | 1/25/2007, 5:49 pm EST

This is another reason why you are the worst publication in the entire world. You guys are a bunch of elitist assholes. If you noticed, it’s usually some band not from the genre (even though in reality none of these bands are in the emo genre even though any band that makes more than one song about a girl according to you is emo), is usually the one who say something and the “emo” bands defend themselves. You’re a fuckin liar if you think you wouldn’t do the same.

Maybe if you stopped being a hypocrite and elitist about music (because you guys really have the shittiest taste in music and aren’t worth the air you breath), you wouldn’t write these ungodly biased bullshit articles.

Andrew | 1/25/2007, 6:20 pm EST

ummm, has anyone actually listened to the new Kasabian?? its soooo good (just as great as new MCR).

oh yeah, i must sign-off with the cliche “rolling stone is shit, blah blah blah” (which it is)

kyle | 1/25/2007, 6:54 pm EST

this article is terrible who ever wrote it doesnt know that much about music. rolling stone needs better writers

likroper.com | 1/25/2007, 7:30 pm EST

bill clinton had to watch his mother get beaten up by his step father, and that is part of the reason why there was such a focus on non-violence during his tenure as president…

the bush administration’s federal government on the other hand; has allowed violence to spread back into our society in a very purposeful fashion; in order to brainwash our citizens into thinking violence is somehow acceptable so they can be better used by the military-industrial complex…

IN FACT; i met the father of a US soldier last summer who told me that his enlisted son claimed that there was actually a plan within the military to stir society into violence so we would all kill each other SO THEY WOULDN’T HAVE TO, AND HE GOT CHEWED OUT BY HIS SUPERIORS FOR DIVULGING THIS TO HIS FATHER!?…

i know i know; that sounds a little crazy, but if you read about the illuminati, their ‘thing’ is to seed violence into society through various means (mainly the media) in order to legitimize their own violent actions, and there are likely many reasons for doing this…

it’s time to wake up to this FACT and do something about it, other than allowing yourself to be a violent puppet of our presently evil establishment!…

Disgusting Journalism, Rolling Stone is full of shit, I can’t believe how they twisted this.
Gerard Way to World: Wanna Fight, Bitches?

But who?

———————- ————————-

I find it funny, first of all, how they said these bands attack each other within the emo genre when The Killers and Kasabian seem to hate emo

Second, I find it funny how they are poking fun at Panic! at the Disco when all over thier website, all they can talk about is how they are putting them on the cover next month.

Third, I find it hysterical how they used the tiniest tidbit of Gerard’s quote and tried to make it sound like he was trying to take the world on when in fact, he has said repeatedly that he hates physical violence.

This is what Gerard really said:

“I don’t usually talk about stuff like this, but what those dudes said was so funny. That comment was made to sound like a slam, but it was so poorly worded that it sounded like a compliment! This band has never had a bullshit war ever. I’ve never found a worthy enough oponent. If you’re going to take me on, you better have the balls for it! If you’re going to talk shit about us, you better have the juice. And we haven’t found anybody with the juice yet.”

The fact is, even though the Used took a swipe at them, they did not respond. On top of it, it’s obvious that Gerard was just defending his band when NME brought it up. NME are like the Us Weekly of the music world, they love to start fueds. But seriously.

If you read my last journal, you know I found this funny but Rolling Stone did here was disgusting, and the filthiest, sleazy, morally-bankrupt piece of journalism I’ve seen since The National Enquirer accused Oprah of killing her baby. I am so pissed.

This may sound weird, old-lady-like, and silly, maybe a bit mcr-freakish, but I don’t care.

Gerard Way is a sweetheart and a gentleman. Sure, maybe people might say he’s not becuase he wears makeup and uses four-letter words. Well fuck that. No one can ever accuse Gerard Way of being an asshole. No one. He’s helped millions of kids, been open about his own problems, and he CARES. But also, he has very nice manners, doesn’t buy into that rock n’ roll sex bullshit, and is by all accounts (including mine) a very nice boy. The whole band is nice.

So saying this shit is just libel.

Gerard nor any of the MCR members have ever asked for shit. Sure, they’ve taken a lot, done their thing, stood up for what they believe in, and defended themselves in a very classy manner. All they said about Bert McCracken despite his taunts and attempted sabotage was “It was very unfortunate.” And the daily mail? Yes, they had a chant, but they said their initial piece in an articulate, nonaggressive manner, then stopped when it became enough.

Gerard Way does not ask for shit, but he’ll thank you for it because it’s what motivates him. Notice that he takes negativity and bad shit and makes it into good?

He, unlike so many in the music industry, has integrity.

Besides, what has he ever done to anyone? He’s a kitten. A nice man.

You Roling Stone, have none. Oh and considering your covers over the last several years, you have no business talking about rock music.

Graham | 1/25/2007, 9:17 pm EST

Who the fuck couldn’t kick Gerard Way’s ass? He is as affeminate as Liberace. Keith Richards could even put him in the hospital.

jen | 1/25/2007, 9:37 pm EST

hmm..britney spears. and obviously none of the boys in these bands have hit puberty yet.

Anonymous | 1/25/2007, 11:46 pm EST

wow, this is one of the most poorly written articles I have ever read. not only do you guys know NOTHING about music (clearly evident), but it seems like you’re looking for exposure or something. Horrible.

Kasabian is terrible, MCR isn’t emo, Panic! shouldn’t even be considered music, and FOB, well, I guess they’d pass as music.

MCR ROCKS | 1/26/2007, 12:18 am EST

kasa..who!!??
panic at the disco SUCK CRAAAAAAAAAP falloutboy are OK.
my chemical romance are amazing they dont fall under media shit and arent “emo” in fact gerard and mieky have had bad breakdowns and mikey is dealing with severe depression. they inspire many and thats why they have so many fans if for one minute u doubt them ur all just a bunch of tards. they are legends..living legends SO STFU and listen to their music between the lines and for the people who say gerards ugly
goddamit ur an idiot look AT HIM and not the mirror :]

THANKYOU
i love mcr
i hate kass…whoever

LaToya | 1/26/2007, 12:21 am EST

I can’t believe I have held a RS subscription for 3 years, your obvious hypocrisy is scandalously irresponsible and just bad journalism. How can you tell your readers to buy MCR’s music month after month and then turn your rag into a high school cafeteria by challenging rockers to bring it to Mr. Way? Second, in one article you write respectfully about how the band withstood members of the audience at Redding throwing bottles and trash and now it’s fodder for your dying and inadequate fire? Finally, these guys HAVE established themselves as legitimate musicians-whether you like their music or not. How could you ignore their stream of sold out shows? They have graced the cover of your publication a few times, they have been mentioned in each of your publications since The Black Parade came out, and your writers all talk about how nice the guys are and how important the music is. Why turn on them? When will you get back to legitimate journalism instead of this MySpace-type gossip? If anyone needs their ass kicked it me for spending money on this rag.

Shoraine | 1/26/2007, 1:14 am EST

I can’t beleive this article. It’s really funny how the author left information out in the most conveniant places– such as the reference to Pete Wentz attacking a security guard. If you’d heard the whole story or had seen the videos on YouTube, you’d see that Pete was just defending his friends and a fan that was being manhandled by the guard.

And as for Gerard, I really doubt that he said that in that context. I have a lot of respect for Gerard and I don’t think it’s right for his words to be twisted around against him.

Ronaldo | 1/26/2007, 1:49 am EST

Why are these bands popular?

Beefo | 1/26/2007, 1:50 am EST

Why are these bands popular?

B | 1/26/2007, 9:49 am EST

Another useless piece made up mostly of speculation from Rolling Stone Online…what a shock. I’m not an apologist for any of the bands mentioned actually, but I do enjoy reading stuff like this to get a chuckle at how bad “music journalism” has gotten at the once great RS. It’s too bad Jann is too worried about reality TV to make sure the company puts out a good product anymore.

Chemican Fan | 1/26/2007, 12:01 pm EST

Gerard Is a sweet guy. He doen’t deserdes bad comments of depress writer that does not has any thing to do. Haters for not deing as good as MCR.
PS. You Suck!!

hello! my name is. . . | 1/26/2007, 1:30 pm EST

Okay:
What Rolling Stone is doing is not libel. Any highschool student who took any type of social studies knows that. Libel doesn’t effect celebrities in the way it does regular people.

Thats besides the point.

Rolling Stone is going to cover either side of a story. So just because MCR was on the cover and was written to have a good cd doesn’t mean that they are always going to publish good things about the band.

Stop getting worked up about the fact that they are writing about a tibit of a quote. So what? If Gerard was so non-violence why bring anything about fighting up to begin with? We get the point you don’t fight; so what you’re not Mother Theresa or Martin Luther King.

And to conclude: Who honestly cares, honestly? Why get so worked up over a little article? I mean you even said it yourselves: how Rolling Stone says alot of great things about MCR. So whats the problem? What is one bad article out of 25? Really people.

gabe | 1/26/2007, 1:49 pm EST

these douchbags deleted my last comment!

MCR sucks balls. they will never amount to anything but stunning achievements to the man. you cant silence the violence movement, and powderface needs to shut his mouth up before he gets slaped the fuck up!

pompandpliny | 1/26/2007, 2:12 pm EST

No, the fact is that this article is completely ignorant and crap journalism by twisting the band’s words, stooping down to the depths of the tabloids.

Gerard Way is a complete gentleman and this is evident by the way that he has handled the ignorant swipes at him. The amazing thing about MCR is not only the exceptional music that they produce but they way that they are all so genuine. They create music to help people and save lives, and this is why Rolling Stone I and many others think that it is shameful to attack them in this way.

tom wieler "hip hop head" | 1/26/2007, 2:25 pm EST

whoa, skinny, bleached-white skinned temper-tantrum-having bitch! i don’t wanna meet you i dark alley. but i guess the alley couldn’t be that dark with him in it, because his hair and “i’ve never been in the sun before” skin would light up that alley like a police searchlight.

happybunny | 1/26/2007, 2:34 pm EST

I love the guys in MCR and agree Gerard is a nice guy, however I wish he wouldn’t respond to crap like this. Album sales says it all and, um, Kasabian??

I also like the Killers but Brandon Flowers would benefit from keeping his moustacheoed lips shut from dissing his fellow musicians. He took on Green Day not too long ago but they chose not to respond. Gerard would do well to follow their example.

Chuck | 1/26/2007, 4:51 pm EST

I’m really sick of the asses on here that insist on commenting in every post about how bad RS’s online tidbits are and that RS is “like, SOO horrible” now.
It’s obvious you don’t know much of what you are talking about. For one, as much as you may not like certain articles being posted, it is legit journalism, and is not going to adhere to everyone’s taste. That’s how it’s ALWAYS BEEN. What makes you think it was so much better 30 years ago? The difference is the internet for one, more information, much faster, and more IDIOTS reading it. If anything, it’s the music scene, not the people reporting on it, that has fallen.
Don’t any of you have anything better to do than continually reading and commenting on a site you hate so much? Complete jackasses.

fred | 1/26/2007, 9:14 pm EST

Hey Chuck dude, they’re opinions, man. If the article sucks they have a right to talk about how much it sucks. That’s why there’s a post a comment here. Their opinion is the article sucks, which it does, and the author gave only half GWays quote, which he did, and he doesn’t know rock from emo, which he doesn’t.

Rolling Stone use to have a good rep as a music mag but if they’re gonna hire hack writers who blog crap to provoke a response then they’re gonna have to suck it up when people tell them they suck.

teagandeath | 1/27/2007, 2:49 am EST

MCR is just dark but they are amazing. ohkay? and if this guy whos starting it up with a lot of other bands too why is MCR seen as so bad? its just that FINALLY someone called this guy out on it. [ this guy i mean gorgeous Gerard Way ] back to my point. dont call MCR an emo band and talk smack about them when you guys actually have no freakin idea what emo is and talking shit is gay and immature. grow up man.

ibebored | 3/7/2007, 6:58 pm EST

i don’t like how people are calling my chem emo and saying they’re all bad! i admit they do have some really dark creepy kinda not right for chlidren songs, but they also sing about not being suicidal (you call that emo) and cancer and songs with meaning so ya and people say gerard way is a terrible person, but he’s not he’s a role model, he used to be a heavy alcoholic and he’s vowed to be sober and he used to be suicidal, and he came out of that i just think that sends the message to people that you can make it and you have a lot to live for

Buck | 3/19/2007, 10:46 am EST

my chemical romance is the best and people just need to realize that, and stop talking about them!

Chris | 6/29/2007, 12:13 pm EST

MCR is EMO but they still kick total fucking ass. They’re the only good emo band.

As far as them being “nerds” and “bullied,” just let me take a second to laugh at the rock journalist, whose opinion does not matter. More than likely, the writer was a much bigger loner, bedwetter, and complete tampon than any of the guys in MCR, which is why he needs to compensate by writing this crap.

It’s a common trick grown up nerds use when they’re jealous. You fool NO ONE, BITCH!

Damian | 7/1/2007, 1:49 am EST

At first MCR is not Emmo, but you can think whatever you whant, 2nd Gerard Way is so god dame right about at least one thing. They don’t mess with anybody, If you don’t like them, don’t lisent to them, you opinion isn’t that important I still gonna buy all their records.
If you’re not in to it don’t even mention it.

FrAnkii | 7/29/2007, 7:56 am EST

Mcr are fucking amazing and would kick any bands ass.I cant believe that this weird guy from kasabian thinks he has the right to slag off a band that is way better than his own.Who has even heard of kasabian anyway…..it makes me laugh.

Meagan | 8/1/2007, 9:59 pm EST

Are you guys fucking kidding me? Or do you not have the capacity to keep your attention on all of the interviews where the band has repeatedly said that they are NOT “emo”. It IS a fucking dead scene. Stop trying to ressurect it. Get some facts before you write a magazine column. Try to at least ACT like you know what the hell you’re talking about. Fucking losers. See, this is why I try to stay clear of this kind of shit. Thank you for proving me right.

mari | 9/12/2007, 10:22 pm EST

…hmm people just need to grow up..

Paige | 9/26/2007, 3:35 pm EST

HAHAHAHA.
MCR aren’t emo, you fucktards.
I mean come on.
I love Gerard, but obv he’s just being the arrogant cocky twat that he is, he wont fight, his band is out there to promote non-violence. Get it right people.. MCR aren’t emo.

Pepper | 10/6/2007, 3:21 am EST

Personally, I think all of you here need to snap out of it and realize that MCR isn’t really a band, just like Gerard’s haircut didn’t make him realize what cancer is really like.

Just because you play power chords, maybe some shit solo here and there, you have a “unique” sound, as branded by whatever record store wants your fucking money to further the bullshit lifestyle you lead, doesn’t mean that you’re a good band. It means that you’re a known band, but how long has it been since popular music has been good?

Pretty close to 30 years or so.

As far as his hair, I still take offense to that. To all of you out there who think he’s so great, he’s nothing more than a fucking hypochondriac moron. I actually had cancer, actually lost my fucking hair. Cutting it to be an inch tall and bleaching it doesn’t do shit except make you look like a flaming douchebag.

Try going through chemo, you fucker.

And you’re not worthy of fighting anyone, you’re as bad as the league of rappers. Get over it, fucking baby prick.

War | 10/12/2007, 10:39 pm EST

MCR arent emo, And I hate to tell you this fucktards but fall out boy & panic at the disco arent either.
OH MY GOD. You guys are so fucking retarded.

Go Look up Emo, Emo Died in the early 90’s

All of those bands are placed under the “Alternative Rock” Genre, get a fucking life

me me me | 11/17/2007, 9:27 pm EST

I agree with Oddjob, The Killers aren’t emo. I don’t know what genre they are but they’re not emo.

This is all mtv’s fault, packaging all the new bands into a product. mtv is too comercial, i pretty much don’t like most of the bands on mtv except a few like The Killers.

Marnie | 12/12/2007, 2:36 am EST

Aw, leave ‘im alone.

He’s just trying to stay out of the fucking commercialized catfights that people start to further their own failing careers.

And emo has nothing to do with it.
Emo died in the early 90s. The new “emo” is some weird amalgamation of pop punk and alternative rock. Whether MCR is emo or not means nothing. Either you like them or you don’t. If you do, cool. If you don’t, be civil and leave them and their fans alone.

I’ve said my piece.

jef666 | 1/3/2008, 5:10 pm EST

ALL OF YOU!!!

GET A FUCKING LIFE!

Rachel the Emo | 1/18/2008, 1:36 am EST

MCR prefer to have their music labelled as Violent Pop.
I admit that is quite strange but I still like the music. Yay for diehard fans!

lol

Katie the non-conformist | 1/21/2008, 7:26 pm EST

I like the Killers music, but it’s true. They did bash everyone they could get their hands on. They’re doing it for publicity like so many other bands now a days. Look at 30 Seconds to Mars. The lead singer beat up Elijah Wood for no good reoson. All for publicity.

BLAH BLAH BLAH | 1/23/2008, 10:57 pm EST

I’d like to whack the ‘tard who wrote this over the head with a glass bottle. He just dissed a bunch of major bands who almost every person under the age of 30 has undoubtebly heard of as well as every “nerd” in the world. Way to get your ass sued, my friend. You don’t even have CORRECT information. Emo did indeed die in the 90s and even if they WERE trying to revive it (which they aren’t) WHO THE FUCK CARES? Either you like that kind of music or you dont. If you don’t then have your opinion but don’t bash their fans.

brandon | 3/5/2008, 12:32 am EST

this guy who wrote this is a serious lil bitch mcr is gonna be legends someday and the world cant stop them o and the bottlers didnt win they stayed on stage and they won the crowd over assholes

Jessikahh | 5/27/2008, 8:42 pm EST

I cant even believe that this is still a issue with people . It’s 2008 .
The emo scene is dead! .
It’s been dead for a while .
I have alot of respect for my chem . They have saved my life , more then once . This article is disrespectful . rude. and idiotic . None of the bands brought up in this article are emo . Just because they sing about real issues , that makes them emo?
Emo is a emotion . It has nothing to do with the way the look or what they say . Gerard doesn’t believe in fighting . My chemical romance is trying to prevent voilence . This article is gross , and lame

Jessikahh | 5/27/2008, 8:52 pm EST

My chemical romance are fucking heros . They will be legends . They will be around for a while . They will be the beatles or Queen or David bowie of this generation .They are all legends . And MCR will be
[LEGENDS}

Smittenmuch | 7/8/2008, 5:35 am EST

i would like to say in reply to pepper’s comment…

How dare you criticize MCR for their music! you are most entitled to your opinion but how dare you say that mcr aren’t a real band?! do you have an album out?! NO!!!!! why don’t you sit down and actually listen to an album from mcr, really listen to it, and then tell me they are no good! they speak words of wisdom through their songs and use their popularity for the same reason! one of the things Gerard said during and concert about suicide and depression (it’s on the “life on the murder scene” dvd as well) saved my life!

they are NOT “Emo” and don’t believe in violence.

also, i understand that you have seen Gerard cutting his hair to be something other than a fashion statement, but seriously, it’s not like that and i don’t think that you can use your unfortunate events in life to make us see otherwise.

catagorising people is just showing your ignorance of the world!

...=] | 7/9/2008, 8:35 pm EST

How the fuck are killers emo?? serously get a grip!! MCR ARE NOT EMO.. emo music is like horthone heights not mcr or panic at the disco.. i mean i like them and im not Emo.

And no wonder Gerard said that. The guy from kasabain is tallentless and boring. He probs don’t even care about his fans HALF as much as Gerard and mcr.

Serously the word “emo” is over used and Overated.

You’s don’t Even know what a real emo kid looks like.

All you’s do is go by a sterotype.

Mcr are the best band going.
Kasabien are shit no matter what.

“muscles and act like the bravado-filled jocks who used to beat them up.”

Do you even know what its like 2 be bullied??

You Trying getting bullied at school. And So what if mcr have big mussles. Most Chavs have big mussles.. i don’t see you bitching about them!!

Mcr’s music dark HAHAHAHA

Tom Meighan Clearly hasn’t heard of Bring me the horizon.

God i Hate that guy Hes not even worth slagging.

But Anyway more to the point.

If you gonna call bands emo
Then atleast call a Emo band emo. Not a rock [mcr & Panic at the disco]/ Pop punk[Fall out boy]

Meindy | 8/28/2008, 11:50 pm EST

I Dont Think So

ej | 8/31/2008, 2:26 am EST

My chemical Romance are emo, i know so from interviews and I think that is cool emo boys are hot. My Chemical romance is my faviorite band so how dare who ever that ugle random was, say mean things about them. If you want to atack Mcr you are a fucking wanker and your just jealous because they are hot they actully get some action and no one likes you they all like mcr. suck shit in your face mcr is sexy hot. xxoo

imnotokay | 9/5/2008, 9:32 am EST

Kasabian are just another lame indie band who think they’re amazing and their only heroes are Oasis. MCR are an inspiring rock band who don’t try to be cool and their heroes are bands like The Misfits and Smashing Pumpkins. Oh and are you trying to insult My Chem or somthing..? Cos its not working. I thought you liked MCR and interviewed them, traitors.

diehardfan | 9/15/2008, 4:37 am EST

I dont know HOW they could SAY this!

MCR are a band to SAVE lives, not to promote EMO.
THEY ARNT FUCKING EMO!!!!!!!!!

I wanna make my point here..THEY ARE NOT EMO
the band my chemical romance is an anti violent band
and all those other band SAID to be emo?
well THEY ARNT EITHER
how the FUCK can you say that Panic at the disco is emo!!
have you herd nine in the afternoon??? how is that emo??

grrrr i HATE articles like this where they just lie the whole way through…

Ansley | 11/3/2008, 9:32 pm EST

There seems to be a huge error of judgement in your writing.
First of all My Chemical Romance is not emo. Emo is a music genre that died in the 90s, and there are millions of fans who would agree that they definatly do not fit with the stereotype. The Killers also are not emo. Far from it, actually, and I can understand perfectly that someone would want to oppose this. As for the quote, its been completly taken and of context, and you’ve managed to misquote him in a couple of places. I suggest you pick up a copy of The Lively Art Of Writing, go back to highschool, and please for the love of humanity, learn the difference between a music genre and a meaningless stereotype.

diehardmcrfan | 1/12/2009, 4:28 pm EST
