Leak Makes Wentz Preachy, Damon Albarn Is a Red, McCartney Divorce Not So Settled

1/22/07, 2:24 pm EST

Fall Out Boy

  • Over the weekend Fall Out Boy’s new album Infinity On High leaked, and Pete Wentz has suggested the album will now be pushed for a January 30th release (it was supposed to come out February 6th). Wentz has also posted a pouty message on his band’s Web site (full text of which appears after the jump) in which he guilt trips legions of sixteen-year-olds.
  • Damon Albarn is quitting the Tony Blair fan club. “I am no longer a New Labour supporter,” the socially conscious rocker reportedly said, “I am now a Communist.” Good to know.
  • Paul McCartney and soon to be ex-wife Heather Mills can’t even agree on whether or not they’ve reached a settlement in their divorce. Earlier it was reported that the couple has agreed on the terms of the divorce, but Heather Mills’ lawyers have apparently denied such claims, saying that the former model has neither been offered nor accepted any settlement.
  • According to a report in Sunday’s New York Post, the new Nirvana bio by writer Everett True (simply titled Nirvana – The Biography) contains salacious details about the birth of Frances Bean Cobain. According to True, Kurt was detoxing in the hospital when Courtney went into labor. Love reportedly described the scene to True as follows: “I’m having the baby, it’s coming out, [Kurt's] puking, he’s passing out and I’m holding his hand and rubbing his stomach while the baby’s coming out.” Gross.
  • Read Win Butler’s thank you letter to those of you who attended one of Arcade Fire’s recent insanely-hyped shows in the U.K. and Canada. This video – taken at Canterbury High in Ottawa – shows you what you missed.
  • Gwen Stefani has invited Lady Sovereign to open for her on the pop star’s spring tour. Check out the dates on Lady Sovereign’s MySpace page.

As this tour winds to an end in the south- this last two weeks has felt like forever. There have been so many ups and downs… each city was carefully picked for one reason or another. Thank you for taking part in this with us. On another note our new record has leaked. While this isn’t the end of the world it certainly feels pretty terrible. As an artist we have a vision for how we want our record to be presented and this isn’t it. It is unfortunate that a couple of vultures in a plant somewhere can ruin this vision so easily. On the other hand we understand what its like to wait and wait for a new record… that’s one of the reasons we tried so hard to get a new record out soon. We didn’t want our fans to wait. We appreciate those of you who are still waiting, but like I said, we understand those who have to sneak a peek at the presents under the tree the night before. Please remember that as the music industry changes more and more we only put out records so we can keep touring and travelling. We want to keep this going for as long as possible. Obviously your support helps that. Please take this into consideration with whatever decision you make when it comes to downloading the record and buying it when it is released.

Thanks.

Good Lord. Fall Out Boy sucks ass. Why am I reading about them? Oh yeah, that’s right, rock is on life support and the whole music industry has gone down the toilet. Who will save us from the perils of rap and pop?

Michael Jackson | 1/22/2007, 6:21 pm EST

hokeycoke | 1/22/2007, 8:43 pm EST

lizzie, darling. I feel for you. Music right now is pretty low on the relevant scale. I see that you have to work with stuff like Fall Out Boy…
Now I guess I understand why Kurt Cobain shot himself, and Richard Manuel hung himself in a bathroom.
Thanks bitch.

fall out boy | 1/22/2007, 8:52 pm EST

fall out boy is not the worst band on earth and i think that the story on them is very good.

to all the people who hate fall out boy forget you!!!

16 clumsy + shy | 1/22/2007, 9:39 pm EST

Holy shit……..Jesus, people, one article on Fall Out Boy and you erupt with all these scathing, knee-jerk comments (fall out wank – that’s REAL creative). I find it sad that you have nothing better to do with your evening than insult a band you don’t like and a woman you don’t know.
Fall Out Boy is not. That. BAD!

Space Pen | 1/22/2007, 9:48 pm EST

fall out boy is shit

RollingStoneReader | 1/22/2007, 9:53 pm EST

Please never mention worthless corporate bands like “Fall Out Boy” ever again.

Thanks.

sparklepink | 1/22/2007, 10:06 pm EST

ok people take a chill pill and breathe. ok, you read an article about fall out boy and you’re still alive. if you don’t like their music that’s fine, i get it and encourage you to criticize the music, but don’t take personal shots at the band members or their fans (or the author of the article); that’s just immature. i say this as a fan of a lot of different kinds of music, including fall out boy. no one thinks you’re “cool” going around dissing people you don’t even know.

RollingStoneReader | 1/22/2007, 10:10 pm EST

I’m not dissing anybody on a personal level, I’m just pointing out that Fall Out Boy is a worthless corporate band that makes recycled, far-from-innovative music for the sake of financial profit. I like a lot of different music, too; I’m defending RS putting Panic! At The Disco on their cover, for starters. But, beyond making catchy bubblegum music, I don’t see any reason to recognize Fall Out Boy for anything.

ATM | 1/23/2007, 12:16 am EST

Maybe they don’t make important music or whatever, but Fall Out Boy is one of the most fan-friendly bands out there, and you have to respect that. They’re just some kids from Chicago who screwed around and got it right. Corporate? Hardly. Much like a Jay-Z, they’ve built their own empire on cross-promotion, smart business decisions and a legitimate product. Let’s not throw them under the bus for finding a little success.

hela | 1/23/2007, 12:30 am EST

Fall Out Boy Rock!! I’m so excited for the new album and i’m going to buy it as soon as its released…c

Hannah | 1/24/2007, 1:24 pm EST

Anyone who doesn’t like fall out boy should be shot in the head for saying that and need to get a life!!!!!!!!!

nirvkc | 1/26/2007, 7:28 am EST

is it just me, or is nirvana popular again?

blondy | 1/26/2007, 4:53 pm EST

if you dont like fall out boy just dont put a comment down on the website. Just cos u aint got anything else to do, your taking it out on them. Id like to see you sing. Im sure you sound like a strangled cat!

Just me | 1/27/2007, 8:53 am EST

No really, come on! Just because you don’t like the band does not justify that you can say mean comments on their music. Really. I think they are awesome! Despite all the people that say mean things about them, they have achieved more than most in life and that takes more courage than you might ever know. So give them a break and if you don’t like them, rather keep quiet!
