And the Cover Goes to . . .

1/22/07, 5:22 pm EST

Panic! at the Disco. That’s right, the Las Vegas foursome is gracing our next cover, which hits stands this Friday. We dropped by their cover shoot to make sure we didn’t miss any hijinks and caught them goofing around on the set, fussing about their costumes and barely suppressing their horror when the photographer mussed their coiffures. Before they sat down to do an exclusive behind-the-scenes interview with us [Watch it here!], guitarist Ryan Ross wandered off with the band’s manager, inciting the other three guys to threaten to oust him from the band. (They were kidding, of course.) And it went downhill from there…

Come back later this week to see Jenny Eliscu’s feature article!

lindsey | 1/21/2008, 7:07 pm EST

OMG you guys! Cut em some slack! i personally adore this band, but not cuz “ryan and brendon are totally hot!omg!omg” or cuz “i totally luv i write sins…” but becuz their music rocks and i totally love them!so just shut up you idiots….

Abby | 1/2/2008, 5:10 pm EST

Everyone who is bashing them needs to shut up! I bet the onlt Panic! aong you have ever heard is “I Write Sins…”.
THAT ISNT THE ONLY SONG ON THEIR RECORD! Thet didn’t even like it that much.
These guys might not be a normal band, but who cares? There music is inspired by lots of different things and people and it means a lot to people.
Look at all the bands from the 80s. Most of them wore makeup and didn’t look so good. At least Panic! looks clean and put together. And who really cares about how they look anyway. The people who say “OMG! RYRO IS SO HOT!” or “BDEN IS DA BOMB!” aren’t the only Panic! At the Disco fans.
They’ve obviously worked harder than you, seeing as they are actually doing something, not just sitting at the computer and trashing other bands.
Oh, and I’m so tired of hearing how stupid “teenyboppers” are. You were a teenager once, weren’t you? You had feeling then , too. I’m 13, and I know that I have a better head on my shoulders than lots of adults.
So please just give them a chance and don’t judge them. They’re really cool people and they’re creative as well.

Suzan | 10/21/2007, 12:21 am EST

ok you guys are so immature.
Just accept the fact that they’re on the cover goddamit. They’re an awesome band and they totally deserve it. So stop your whining and just don’t buy the magazine Jeese..

Katie | 8/22/2007, 5:55 pm EST

ok, im 14 years old, like radiohead, smashing pumpkins, the shins, the smiths, and any other great band out there you can think of. but i also happen to like panic! at the disco. and never, in all the time i have liked their music, posted a comment anywhere that said ‘OMG BRENDON U R SO FSCKING HAWT, I LUV U!!!!!'’ or anything of the sort or about any other members of the band. i know its a little late to post this, but im rather ashamed to call myself a smiths fan if this is how some of the others act. i am appalled at what other people are saying about panic! at the disco. just because you dont like them, does not mean they are a shitty band. yes, they wear eyeliner, but who really cares? is that honestly why you hate them so much? or is because they arent like everybody else? or because you wanted to see you favorite band on the cover? if you hate panic!, then i bet the only song you have ever heard by them is ‘i write sins not tragedies’. if you had taken the time like other people have to learn about them, you might have found out that they asked their manager NOT to let people play their songs on the radio. they never wanted to be on mtv, but their fans voted for them anyway. they didnt expect to get this big, but im glad that they did, or there would be one less great band out there. yes, they are barely even of drinking age, but that shouldnt matter to people. if you reallly love music, then you wouldnt bash people that are just trying make others happy with their music. i suggest that you listen to more than one of their songs before you start saying that they suck. stereotypes arent hip or cool or nice. neither is bahing. get you heads out of you asses and see some sense.

paulina | 8/5/2007, 10:45 pm EST

Marie | 7/21/2007, 7:41 pm EST

Myself | 3/3/2007, 12:16 am EST

K…
I like Panic!, I mean sure they’re NO zeppelin, beatles, or even fall out boy, but you have to take under consideration that if a band of teenagers got so famous with one cd so fast…well they must be doing something right. Of course thiscould be worse RS could put Christina Aguilera on the cover again:| And I really do like Panic! but for all you dumb broads out there that keep pusting things like; “Omigosh! Rian Ros IS HAWT I love P!ATD !!” For the love of GOD, PLEASE STOP!

C.C. | 2/19/2007, 12:04 pm EST

I love Panic! at the Disco and they totally deserved the front cover. I don’t understand people that hate them because they know music and have destinct voices that make them different from everyone else which is why they are the best.

Mel | 2/4/2007, 11:20 am EST

That video is so funny =)

& I think Panic! deserves the cover

yourmom | 2/4/2007, 2:41 am EST

haters stop hating. and for those people that want GnS to come back its not going to happen that kind of rock will never come back. listen to me times change styles changes and guess what so does music! so shut up about panic! they are a good band and they deserve the cover.

Thuanny | 2/3/2007, 9:43 pm EST

it is that good that they had recognized the talent of the Panic at the record, this only makes of this band each better time pq they deserve and I twist very for them and also twist pra that they come to make 1,2,3 or 4 here shows in the Brazil… and that Gods bless them, although that they already are…. kisses….

Alicia | 1/25/2007, 5:54 pm EST

finally rolling stones recognizes talent. these guys are the future of music. theyre original and they put on a great show. theyre like seasoned pros already.

SquallCloud | 1/24/2007, 10:50 pm EST

Brian, take your meds sweetie, mkay?

I watched the footage of the photoshoot. I hope they used the window pics for the inside of the mag. They seem like they’ll come out pretty well althought the light was behind them. They probably did some interesting things with light and shadow. They looked really terrific. What else can be said in the feature interview that they didn’t cover in the behind the scenes interview I wonder.

=Ezrin= | 1/24/2007, 8:42 pm EST

EVERYBODY has likes and dislikes, and i can understand, but really i think panic! have earned being on the cover, ragards of what genre or what age you are if you listen to the band, they still make good music, in my eyes, they deserve it more.

Mr. Vorhias | 1/24/2007, 1:48 pm EST

A whining pack of emo kids is still a whining pack of emo kids regardless of what extra instruments they include in their repetoire.

Clipsie | 1/24/2007, 12:45 pm EST

To make the other instruments clear, they include; Cello, Violin, Acordian, Piano, and I’m forgetting something.

Also, some of us Panic! fans know how to spell, thank you very much. It’s just idiotic how people are taking shots at someone they don’t even know! If this is how the world is coming to, then we are screwed. I’m a 17-year-old Panic! fan. Age is irrelivant people.

Also, some of the flamers don’t know how to spell either.

John | 1/24/2007, 12:21 pm EST

Hey, did you guys all hear that Panic at the Disco use other instruments than the guitar and drums! Wow, they really are original! I wonder if that even includes a bass…(puking sounds)

Moni | 1/24/2007, 12:17 pm EST

any band that put half-naked women touching each other in their stage show should be put on the cover of RS - so that other bands will follow suit. i hear their next video will be along the lines of madonna’s “justify my love,” only more graphic. what’s not to love about this band?

itsonlyrockandroll | 1/24/2007, 11:54 am EST

It’s okay not to like this band or not agree with RS for putting them on the cover, but hateful words and some even going as far as saying that they with harm on these young guys is really terrible and uncalled for. It’s okay to have any opinion. No, I don’t like P!ATD, but it is just a cover and an article, that’s all. No need to with physical harm on anyone.

Intolerance is a huge cause of what is wrong with people today. So what, they wear make-up…it’s music and it’s art, and many performers (some of my favs) where make-up or have worn make- up.

Again, not a Panic fan, but I’m also not a fan of ignorance and out-right hatred. So, get over it, this young band is on the cover, next month it will someone else that we all don’t care for, so people should just accept it and move on.

sparklepink | 1/24/2007, 10:29 am EST

I’ve seen so many people on this website, and pretty much everywhere else for that matter, judge Panic! just because of their looks. Now I am aware that the music industry is based a lot on image, however, the make up is nothing new. They wear stage makeup. Get over it. What about all those ‘great’ bands of the 80s? I seem to remember a lot spandex, hair spray, and oh yeah make up. No one even saw KISS without makeup until years later (they should have kept it on…)and David Bowie and Prince, whether you like them or not (I’m personally not a big fan of Prince) are some of music’s biggest icons even with thier signature look. There are countless others. And don’t get me started on the look of bands from the 90s; at least Panic! looks put together and clean. So yeah the make up is nothing no but they try to make it their own and they put on a show like no other that I have ever seen (and I’ve seen quite a few).
Oh, and I don’t understand the rush to cancel your RS subscription. It’s one article in one issue. I’m sure its not the first time they’ve written article about a band you didn’t like. If its just too beneath you to read the article and maybe broaden your view of music, then just skip it; its not that hard.

***Before I leave to go to class(yeah I’m a Panic! fan in college aka not 14), let me just put in my disclaimer. I’m not saying Panic! is going to become the next KISS or Prince or David Bowie; it was just an image comparison since thats all some of you seem to care about.

farrah | 1/24/2007, 10:16 am EST

maybe it’ll be better for those who defend them to start spelling things correctly.

seriously
“i luv PANIC!!!! omg!”
thats just asking for it.

!!!! | 1/24/2007, 5:11 am EST

YAY!!! Can’t wait to get my hands on this copy of RS… PANIC! ROCK

lowie | 1/24/2007, 4:08 am EST

ok people… Rolling Stone is the top music magazine out there… and Panic! at the moment are the top band…you may not like it but they are.. there top shit so it makes sense RS would put them on the cover… it doesn’t matter if there not going to be around in a few years.. at the moment there the most popular so they deserve the cover!!!!!

and to people who say they dont deserve it becuase they haven’t done anything recently…. well that just proves that there music’s good enough that they can still keep people entertained and interested in them a year and a half after there album came out.. thats a long time to keep people interested!!!!

GO PANIC!

Ashli | 1/24/2007, 2:26 am EST

Panic! At The Disco definetly deserve to be on the cover! They are a great new band and have accomplished soo much in there first year signed up! In Australia tickets sold out in 15 minutes (i think, i heard that somewhere, Maybe only Brisbane) They have an original sound including other instruments other then guitars and drums! I will definetly be looking to buy this!! P!ATD! 4ever!

hotpantsgary | 1/24/2007, 1:26 am EST

I’m 20 years old. I’m willing to bet that every single person who said they hate panic! have never listened to their full album and are basing their entire opinion on the fact they are played on MTV. Focus on the music for once and not how much their album is played. If you were able to look past the glow of teenage girls screaming for panic! you would hear some music that is new and inventive. Maybe not my favorite band in the world, but their twist on pop/rock is refreshing.

reddifer | 1/24/2007, 1:10 am EST

apparently teenage girls do buy rolling stone, cause they’d rather read about music, not about some random rant on how ugly lindsey lohan’s latest outfit was, and even if most ppl would rather see classic rock bands on there, not everyone does, and maybe even 30 years ago older ppl were calling the now classic rock bands crap, but years later theyre remembered, this could happen to panic! at the disco, or they could be forgotten, but right now they are the hottest band to top 40 stations

wombat | 1/24/2007, 12:55 am EST

panic on the cover isnt a bad thing, they have more talent that some1 like paris hilton ever had, and sometimes nicer to see than some outdated artist, but i could still think of 10 better bands that deserve a cover

MitchellisMYname | 1/24/2007, 12:21 am EST

ok peoplejust please get over the fact panic! is on the cover
they obviously deserve it
they have done so man things this year
and they dodeserve it
this cover is a done deal so u cant bash them and rs its finalized
to all u dedicated readers
why are u taking this out on rs
u say rs in ur life
well why punish them for this
i thought u loved rs dont let them suffer in business cus one cover

why would you do that
some people are like i never have heard panic but i hate them
if you have never heard them then how can u hate them
please just listen
the lyics have meanings and the bnd is so awseome togher

ps
they dont wear makeup ever resally outside of the concerts
in the video they still have makeup on from the photoshoot

pss
they are just kids
tis business is new to them
give it a chance
i expect great things from them

psss
stop sain theyare shemales
they are moremanly then all of us
why do u think thy get so manygirls

think aboutthis all

pssss
dont judge a book by its cover

HiMYnamEisJimmy | 1/24/2007, 12:06 am EST

Im a guy and i love panic! They deserve this cover
t is rely cool that they are on the cover

Zoe | 1/23/2007, 11:53 pm EST

All of those who critisize the 14 year old fans of rolling stone who dont wanna see Panic! on the cover should just let us see our music that WE like…just because rolling stone is 50 years old doesnt mean the music taste has to be…and about them looking like transvestites….they look nothing like a transvestite…if you have ever seen ryan ross’s ellaborate make-up he wears on stage you will understand its like a painting not some cheap las vegas transvestite…and so you all know…Panic! At The Disco is an extrodinary band…dont judge by their 3 video singles and their 1 radio only release….the album is full of great material..now if you think im just full of shit…then you can blow what i just said right off….now hows that for those 14 yr old teeny boppers…FYI im 14

RollingStoneReader | 1/23/2007, 11:47 pm EST

“Pretty much all the defenders of this are girls(not women mind you, girls), not trying to infer anything of course, just thought I would throw that out there.”

I’m a 22-year-old male. Thanks.

“I have honestly never heard any of their music, but I pretty much write off any band wearing mascara which includes most of the newer bands coming out these days.”

Why does image matter to you whatsoever? And who cares if somebody decides to wear eyeliner? That’s their decision, not yours.

And frankly, as I stated before, I find P!ATD to be a breath of fresh air. Their style is unique compared to most mainstream bands that are popular right now.

jill hives | 1/23/2007, 11:43 pm EST

i’ve read through these posts again and find the amount of homophobic sentiment in so many of the opinions disturbing and embarassing. even sadder that alot of the offenders try really hard to make themselves seem so experienced, smart and “right” (about pop music?!). beer me.

CILLA | 1/23/2007, 11:41 pm EST

hi ummmm ya i love Panic! At the Disco!!!!!!!

i cant wait for this issue to come out on friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ya totally!!!!

Hellooooo? Are you kidding me? | 1/23/2007, 11:32 pm EST

Panic! on the cover???!!! My goodness. Transvestites??!! So hilarious, so true, I never thought about that but they actually really do look like shemales. EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.

MNW | 1/23/2007, 11:00 pm EST

I think it is great that Rolling Stone is giving other, better, and newer artist a chance!

And to that Brain guy I would “kiss your dik!” but I can’t find it… can you say penile implant. yes much!

So Funny | 1/23/2007, 10:37 pm EST

I purposely didn’t comment on this until most of the comments were in. Reading through them I am so happy to see that the older R.S. fans aren’t going to put up with this sort of blasphemy of these “transvestites” (as so many posters used) on the front cover. Lester Bangs (for those 14yr old girls out there) was the most famous and quite possibly the greatest rock critic ever, who saddly has passed, would have thought of these “she-males” on his beloved cover. IT WOULDN’T BE PRETTY. Also and lastly for you 15yr olds out there that can’t understand why people are so mad about this let me explain it, there are a lehion of actual music lovers out there that depend on R.S. for our music news and have done so for many years. For us to have to look at these three weasel looking cocksmokers for a month really is disheartening. Especially when there have been so many legends on the cover AND not to mention rock in such a bad state this will only make it worse. To quote one of the earlier posters, ” I hope they die on the way to the cover shoot” is an understatement.

P.s. Isn’t it funny Rolling Stone removed there photo from the original blog. It’s cause they do look like tranvestite hookers on the back streets of Las Vegas.

Very sad Rolling Stone.

Brian | 1/23/2007, 10:30 pm EST

u guyz tht lyke panic! can kiss my dik! -}

Brian | 1/23/2007, 10:28 pm EST

YOU “RESPECT” PANIC? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?????? THAT’S LIKE SAYING I LOVE THE TASTE OF SOAP IN MY MOUTH! HONESTLY IF THIS IS GOOD MUSIC FOR YOU GREAT SOME MOTHERFUCKING EXPOSURE! LISTEN TO ZAPPA, BECK, RADIOHEAD, ANYTHING BUT THIS GARBAGE! DO YOU PEOPLE HONESTLY THINK THAT TEN YEARS FROM NOW YOU’LL BE SAYING HOW “GREAT PANIC WAS”? NO! THAT SHIT CANNOT HAPPEN BECAUSE THAT MEANS THAT THERE IS NO GOD. IF TRUE ARTISTS LIKE FRANK ZAPPA, BECK, RADIOHEAD, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, WEEN, OR ANY OTHER BAND TRYING SOMETHING DIFFERENT AND SUCCEEDED IN THEIR VISION RECIEVE NO RECOGNITION, THEN THE TASTE OF THIS EMO POISONED GENERATION IS FORCASTED AS SUCH, POSIONED BY THE NO TALENT ASS CLOWNS OF BANDS LIKE FALL OUT BOY AND PANIC! PEOPLE WAKE THE FUCK UP AND REALIZE THAT THIS IS A PHASE, HOPEFULLY! this is god damn wrong RS, just wrong!

Indie Ninja | 1/23/2007, 10:15 pm EST

This is fucking crazy.

I left a post at around noon today that appeared, disappeared, then reappeared. In addition, the post I left earlier in the morning still is missing, thanks to RS’s deletion.

This is how RS responds to your criticism when it hits too close to home: censorship and backtracking.

SquallCloud | 1/23/2007, 10:07 pm EST

Wow, hell *is* other people. I really love Panic!’s music and I’m old enough to be the mother of a tween so whatevs. Also, I find it disheartening that so many people will discount a band just because teenage girls like them, as if teenage girls are an anathema. I admit I wouldn’t go to a show and be pummled and deafened by their shrieks but their not some universal stamp of suckage. If you don’t like Panic! it’s your right but you dont’ have to be such a fucking tool about it.

Lastly, because folks are trying to act like they don’t know, guyliner is flipping sexy. Bands have been wearing make-up for years and years because they know like I know, dudes in make-up are le sex.

Vicky | 1/23/2007, 9:20 pm EST

Ok, to all the haters:

Why the fuck are you coming on here and telling shit? We can like whoever the fuck we want to. The earth does revolve around you. What if we took covers from you’re favorite bands and told RS not to put them up because some people don’t like it? I mean, if you don’t like it; fine. Just don’t be a pathetic loser and bitch about it here. Please.

And the people who don’t like them for the fans: GET A LIFE!

Just shut it. | 1/23/2007, 8:38 pm EST

What use does it do to put down Panic! At the Disco? Really. Tell me. Because I’d like to know. What if I went and insulted your favorite bands? It wouldn’t feel very good, would it? Bashing isn’t going to solve anything. And it gets me frustrated when people say that its just the “girls” sticking up for them. I respect Panic! for their music, not just their looks as many stereotypical individuals often stupidly mention. Get your head out of a hole and just think for a minute. Complaining about a band you don’t like isn’t going to change anything.

Mel | 1/23/2007, 7:49 pm EST

Panic is on the cover, just deal with it. RS put Panic on the cover to sell magazines. They also put Jessica Simpson on the cover to do the exact same thing. Your whining isn’t going to change aything.

Clipsie | 1/23/2007, 7:07 pm EST

I love how some of my people are saying that Panic! fans have absolutely no taste in music. I laugh at you dearly. Seriously. I am a Panic! fan, a Queen fan, a Guns N’ Roses fan, a fan of The Who, extera. We like what we like, get over it. I just started reading RS a month or so ago, and I didn’t even know Panic! was supposed to be on the cover. I just started reading a back issue with Stewart/Colbert on the cover, then I read a few other issues. I like it. I’m also not a mindless teenie. I am childish, yes, but I am wise. So, all I’m saying is quit with the stereotypes and the bashing. We are all human, and it is inane to argue about things like this. So, just stop.

And why are those whom don’t even like the band even creating big posts of why they should no and how they are canceling their subscription. Mindless.

Quinn | 1/23/2007, 6:58 pm EST

Wow.
People are making a lot of fuss over nothing…
Fans and nonfans alike are getting pissed off about one magazine cover that only stays on the stands for about 3 weeks.
We all know that Rolling Stone isn’t so much about the music anymore but seriously, Panic! At the Disco isn’t that bad of a band. They’re not anything utterly amazing but they don’t completely suck either. Plus, with they’re overnight success, they must be doing something right…
But I get the reasons why people are getting upset. Most people in this are either screaming 13-year-old girls obsessed with these guys leaving lame comments like, “OMG I LUV P!@TD!!!11!!!one!!!eleven! THERE TEH BEST!” or people that have either A) never actually sat down and listened to their entire record B) think it’s extremely hip to hate on this band, or any band that becomes popular for that matter, C) are pissed because several other deserving bands didn’t recieve the cover, or D) Have kept their minds open when judging a band and truly like or dislike them, in which these all types of people are conflicting with one another and causing unneccessary drama. Frankly, I think that if you’re upset about other bands not recieving the cover, please get over it. This was obviously planned out months in advance considering that interview is from December. A lot has happened since then and people need to realize that these stories and photo shoots do take a lot of time.
The nonfans that are critizing fans (and vice-versa) seriously need to stop. Everyone has there own oppinion about music and no one deserves to have their favorite band torn to shreds like that or told that they’re stupid for not liking certain bands.
People who think these guys are actually gay, I agree with you 100%. But that, of course, is just my opinion.
Do you think that maybe some people could actually comment on something other than the fact that they hate Rolling Stone and Panic! At the Disco. Comment after comment repeating the exact same thing does get quite boring. It actually looks very confomist-like for everybody to say that they hate Panic! At the Disco for all the people trying to rebel against it.
Every generation likes it’s own music and basically hates the other generations’ (with a few flukes thrown in here and there) so all comments regaurding how music isn’t what it used to be are completely irrelevant. Everybody and everything changes; It’s inevitable. People can still like the old while enjoying the new. Not all music groups are supposed to be as serious as some people make it; take it for what it is.

My personal oppinion on Panic! occupying this issues cover:
Rolling Stone has, can, and probably will do much, much, much worse.

panic! fan | 1/23/2007, 6:47 pm EST

wow….ppl r getting really heated up about this….tho im guessing that this must happen often…every time say, wen a new RS comes out???
anyways, i luv panic! there my fav. band, but i can also understand other ppl, i mean, sure not everyones gonna luv em like i (and many other ppl) do. i just wanted 2 clear sum stuff up….not only 12 yr old girls like panic!….pleanty of ppl over the age of 20 do. and for those of u who r fully dissing the rolling stones and saying how much u hate them and how becuz of this ur never buying RS ever again….thats just a bit over the top…its not like u cant buy it without just ignoring the fact that it has panic! on the front and looking at everything else in the mag.
sumtimes humans r just way 2 wierd…ppl fully getting so angry, its acctually scary, over a mag cover.
and also…it seems to hv sliped many pplz minds that panic! r all normal ppl, its not like…they did sumthing extremly horrible (ie. blow up sum part of the world) all they’ve gone and done is hv fun expressing themselves by writing and playing music.

thats all i hv 2 say
dont get angry
every person is entitled 2 their own opinion.

ps. ryan said he’s suscribed to RS…

hilary | 1/23/2007, 6:24 pm EST

You can’t say that Panic! doesn’t have talent just because you don’t like them, and because they’re younger than you. Talent is an opinion and there are millions of people who think they DO have talent. So I think they are pretty worthy of this cover- even if their music sucks. They’ve worked harder than you.

Ben | 1/23/2007, 6:12 pm EST

I let my subscription expire about 6 months ago, and sometimes I miss it. But then I go to RS online when I’m bored and I see stuff like this. A cover to panic (I won’t even grace THAT band with a writing of their whole idiotic name)? I am sooo glad I’m saving a few bucks by not having that scrip. Hilarious.

Keep up the good work!

Thank goodness for the person who posted and said that RS isn’t saying that P!ATD are the next Beatles! As if we ever doubted that or as if anyone actually worried about such a thing! Anyway, I agree, it’s a cover, and RS has a right to put whichever band it chooses on their cover. They are as irrelevant now as an actual music media source to me as they have been before hearing about the cover.

Congrats to the P!ATD boys though– for a landing a cover that so many other bands deserve and never get seriously considered for.

me | 1/23/2007, 5:26 pm EST

WHERE THE FUCK IS THE MCR COVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

j-dog | 1/23/2007, 5:24 pm EST

Panic! At The Disco is awsome!!!!!

jackie | 1/23/2007, 5:23 pm EST

you gay people need to get over it, they deserve it more then any other band and you ALL know it

... | 1/23/2007, 4:55 pm EST

your just pleasing the masses, rolling stone, pleasing the masses of 14 year old girls. unfortunatly most of us are not apart of the masses. and unfortunatly, according to these posts, you have lost plenty of subscriptions.

Anonymous | 1/23/2007, 4:49 pm EST

panic blows

Jables | 1/23/2007, 4:41 pm EST

Wow, I wonder what it’s like to be as clever and funny as those Panic boys.

Their interview might be reason enough to want to start a movement for mass genocide for anyone 19 and under.

Geoff | 1/23/2007, 4:19 pm EST

I have no problem with this cover at all, it won’t be the first time Rolling Stone put shitty actors on their cover.

dpr | 1/23/2007, 4:07 pm EST

I dare any of you to watch them live and still hate them. They’re like some broadway vegas rock freak show. Hard to not like contortionists in the middle of a concert.

Anyhow, music is decent, and at least unique, but the concerts are even better. I don’t have a problem with them being on the cover, although, yes, like past posters have said, The Shins and Muse are far better.

Brittany | 1/23/2007, 4:04 pm EST

It isn’t that bad. Panic At The Disco is part of music culture (sadly) and that is what Rolling Stone Magazine writes about. It isn’t like they’re saying that there the next Beatles; so get over it.

bent | 1/23/2007, 4:01 pm EST

Wow…what a load of horse shit. Are you guys gonna have the entire issue written with crayons, too?

Lobsters | 1/23/2007, 3:52 pm EST

No problem. I haven’t bought Rolling Stone in nearly fifteen years anyway!

ALEX | 1/23/2007, 3:34 pm EST

MUSE SHOOULD BE IN THE COVER!!

Why? | 1/23/2007, 3:17 pm EST

The Shins should have gotten the cover. But whatever, it’s cool. Put as many lame bands with bad songs on your cover as you want, I won’t be buying your magazine anymore.

Jessica | 1/23/2007, 3:16 pm EST

Their boyfriends must be so proud of this accomplishment.

elemilin | 1/23/2007, 2:52 pm EST

for the love of rock, enough possers,
put an actual musician on the cover
not a bunch of pseudo-rockers with too much make-up

Fergie | 1/23/2007, 2:48 pm EST

I love that band and I have pee pants.

Eric | 1/23/2007, 2:45 pm EST

A disgrace to the name “rolling stone.” I’m not angry…just…disappointed. Look at you. You’ve made your mother cry.

charliemapleton | 1/23/2007, 2:36 pm EST

Stupid library computer!

jo | 1/23/2007, 2:35 pm EST

I thought Rolling Stone realized how disposable P!ATD is months ago. What happened? Did they give them the cover just to make it a high point of the eventual P!ATD Behind The Music. (for P!ATD’s sake, let’s hope they bring Behind The Music back)

charliemapleton | 1/23/2007, 2:29 pm EST

Probably will the most spectacular, fantastic cover from any rock band since the 1970’s.

Yo momma | 1/23/2007, 2:12 pm EST

Put The Shins on the cover instead of these tossers.

shaun | 1/23/2007, 2:06 pm EST

number of covers given to the Smiths: zero.

Number of covers given to crappy pop-punk bands that bite the name of one of their songs: significantly more, now.

Seriously lame. Even for the magazine that once gave Creed the cover and a favorable review and named the Vines as the “next big thing”.

Johnny B | 1/23/2007, 1:55 pm EST

i was in a rush

T-Baby | 1/23/2007, 1:41 pm EST

And Rolling Stone creeps one step closer to Seventeen Magazine….For the MUSIC fans out there (emphasis on music, not IMAGE), check out the British mag Blender…their slogan says it all “Good Music Will Prevail”

Grawp | 1/23/2007, 1:19 pm EST

Its really great that Rolling Stone is willing to support the involvement of mentall retard-er, sorry, “special” people in rock music. Go Panic! This should make this year’s performance at the Special Olympics all the more savory!

Jess | 1/23/2007, 1:03 pm EST

I Think all you people on here who are slating Panic! Are very sad! Have you ever seen them? Or are you just slating them because of the “scene” they are in? At the end of the day it is your right not to like them but it is not your right to push your opinions on to others who may not agree and come off it at the end of the day its just a magazine not the end of the world!

Wanker | 1/23/2007, 12:58 pm EST

Dear Rolling Stone,

The only way you guys can redeem yourselves is by putting the Kings of Leon on the cover sometime around April when the new album is out.

Yours Truly,

Disgruntled Rock Fan

brad w | 1/23/2007, 12:52 pm EST

I will normally not bother to comment on these things but, though I enjoy the magazine and look forward to getting it every other week, this panic cover is really crappy. Between this, the reality show and the every so often cheeseball pop prince or princess on the cover, things are looking dire. This is THE Rolling Stone for god’s sakes. There are so many good rock and roll bands out there!

Jeff | 1/23/2007, 12:50 pm EST

hahahahaha

I love how there’s like 15 GN’R related posts in this middle of this just because I asked ‘Where’s Chinese Democracy?’ yesterday at work.

I guess I know who’s on the cover next month…

Anonymous | 1/23/2007, 12:44 pm EST

its funny how all thelir fans on here are chicks who know nothing about good music… “havnt you people ever heard of pearl jam”

Anonymous | 1/23/2007, 12:41 pm EST

Jack | 1/23/2007, 12:39 pm EST

James | 1/23/2007, 12:31 pm EST

Take the goddamn eyeliner off!

Warning! | 1/23/2007, 12:27 pm EST

To all rollingstone.com readers:

Warning!

At all costs, do not equate Panic! at the Disco with Spandau Ballet. It will cause Rolling Stone editors to delete your comments and regret ever putting a third-generation gimmick band on the cover of a once-great magazine.

This has been a message of the Public Broadcast System.

HannaH | 1/23/2007, 12:18 pm EST

i like Panic! as much as the next person…well–i like one of their songs. I thought RS was supposed to be this hard core rocker magizine, but TRUST ME Panic! At the Disco is waaaaay better than having someone like Mariah Carey (her music sucks ass by the way) on the cover!…..Get the hell over it!

Loser123 | 1/23/2007, 12:15 pm EST

i hate these bands who seem like they have no balls. if rolling stone wants panic!at the disco wants to be on the cover good for them but the only way i’ll buy it is if you pay me 100 bucks.
So i doubt i’ll be buying this issue

Indie Ninja | 1/23/2007, 12:12 pm EST

I would like to thank RS for deleting the post I left this morning. Way to engage in censorship that RS supposedly opposes and for which this magazine criticizes the government.

My post read: “Ten years from now, people are going to look at this cover and think, ‘Jeez, who the fuck is Panic! at the Disco?’ Congratulations, RS. You put the modern equivalent of Spandau Ballet on the cover.”

lydia | 1/23/2007, 12:11 pm EST

There is no point in bashing them
it’s not our decition and even though i would rather see some other more deserving band i can’t. so just suck it up and stop whining!!!!

4thHorseman | 1/23/2007, 11:13 am EST

Pretty much all the defenders of this are girls(not women mind you, girls), not trying to infer anything of course, just thought I would throw that out there.

I have honestly never heard any of their music, but I pretty much write off any band wearing mascara which includes most of the newer bands coming out these days.

Probably True | 1/23/2007, 10:32 am EST

Payola! At the Magazine

Buttery1000 | 1/23/2007, 10:27 am EST

farrah | 1/23/2007, 10:24 am EST

ps. the vmas has nothing to do with a band and the number of fans.

i dont think we vote for who’s going to win.
and its not like they directed the video.

Brian | 1/23/2007, 10:23 am EST

Yet another example of Rolling Stone jumping the shark. Why on Earth should these no talent ass clowns be on the cover? It’s shit like this that gives me no hope for future generations.

farrah | 1/23/2007, 10:22 am EST

yeah, like the cover even means anything anymore.

on the other hand, though
if rolling stone wants to criticize p!atd in articles, they shouldnt be putting them on the cover.

rs, pick a gear
and stick in it

Abby | 1/23/2007, 10:19 am EST

STOP PEOPLE!!! YOUR NOT GONNA ACCOMPLISH ANYTHING BY BASHING THEM!!! THERE IS NOTHING OU CAN DO THEY ARE ON THE COVER!!

WHAT THE HELLL!!!!! I am so sick of all you people saying i hate panic! at the disco and that they don’t deserve this. Obviously RS likes them because they did put them on the cover. STOP JUDGING THEM!!!!! I was like you guys unitl i actually listened to their songs. Their songs have meanings. And yess Panic! has done things that they should be on the cover. I’d like to see you try to become really big really fast then make a music video and have yur frst music video ever win a vma for video of the year. Panics story is a cinderella story and people want that. Obviously people like them because they won a vma they performed on nbc for new years and the are on the cover of RS. Magazines have labeled them band of the yeaar!!! SO THERE!!! GET OVER THE FACT YOU HATE PANIC! becuase they are on the cover of rolling stone!!

I think it’s great, if your a die hard Panic!at the disco fan.I’m not the biggest Panic! at the disco fan and in my opinion they shouldn’t have the cover. Panic! at the disco has younger fans and i think Rolling Stone is just trying to get some younger readers. We can only hope and pray and wait for the next issue to come out with something better!!

Bella | 1/23/2007, 8:11 am EST

it’s the same as every month.

Panic!ATD is big now, so put them on the cover. it’s cool with me.

michelle | 1/23/2007, 4:31 am EST

what a bunch of whiny people! why spend time bitching about a band you don’t like? Is your life really that patectic, huh?

So you don’t like them *BUHU*

Who decide what’s good and what’s not?

chris | 1/23/2007, 2:05 am EST

i used to think that rolling stone had some sort of taste in music…and then this happened. such a horrid band, so many other bands deserve this more.

Rainbeau | 1/23/2007, 1:57 am EST

Oh my God people suck it up. It’s just for one month. Give them a chance. They’re awesome. If you don’t like them just skip the Panic! parts. God….

panic lover | 1/23/2007, 1:51 am EST

i love panic but personally i think that they are sinking low to be in this awful magazine it is not worthy of panic’s faces/thoughts

R. Pennypacker | 1/23/2007, 1:51 am EST

are you shitting me? thats low…even for rolling stone.

Pete | 1/23/2007, 1:12 am EST

Who are these tools? I thought RS hated them, but then they started selling albums and RS saw some money and changed their minds. I know this is tired, but Arcade Fire are also selling out arenas. Mark my words, Arcade Fire are on the way up. Panic, we’ll forget about in a year.

Dondante | 1/23/2007, 1:00 am EST

I don’t like Panic, but the biggest problem with them getting the cover is that they haven’t done anything lately to merit one. How about all the bands coming out with new albums. How about the Arcade Fire?

Soooooooo Shitty | 1/23/2007, 12:53 am EST

enough said, in ten years, their cds will be as easy to find used as the backstreet boys are now, will be able to get them for $1.99; only the flavor of the week, no talent yet millions are dumb enough to buy it because its been force-fed down their mouth.

Fuck emo, it’s pathetic Rolling Stone has them on the cover; pandering to complete morons and corporate rock…disappointing.

And you wonder why I canceled my subscription.

jill hives | 1/23/2007, 12:51 am EST

beer me…

Zachra | 1/23/2007, 12:44 am EST

Does the look of this band (and others of the same ilk) not make anyone else think of Poison, Warrant, or Motley Crue? This is not a compliment, just an oservation that we’re once again stuck in the 80’s practice of style over substance.

Hunter | 1/23/2007, 12:36 am EST

RE:”meeeeea”

why do sales equal comedy to you? To quote Immortal Technique, “you goin’ platinum has nothing to do with luck/it just means a million people are stupid as f***.”

Seriously, Creed sold huge too…

Hunter | 1/23/2007, 12:32 am EST

Wtf man! I’ve seen these guys twice (unfortunately their agent gets them on bills with pretty damn good bands) but they are so inept live, if for no other reason, they should not be on the cover.

hela | 1/22/2007, 11:57 pm EST

AWSOME!!!! Cant wait to get my hands on this copy of RS.. Panic are a kick ass band…. they do deserve the cover

aaron | 1/22/2007, 11:53 pm EST

this band sucks. anyone who likes them is a douche.

/end

meeeeea | 1/22/2007, 11:31 pm EST

YAY!!! I love Panic!… there totally deserving of the cover.. and anyone who thinks there not needs to ge a reality check… they’ve sold over a million records… headlined their own touring around the world selling out venues… and have millions of fans who aren’t just teenies. There album is AWSOME!!! There great musicians… I’ll definitly be buying this issue of Rolling Stones..

PANIC! AT THE DISCO ROCK

music4every1 | 1/22/2007, 11:20 pm EST

Kings of Leon…now we’re talking. P!ATD can be on the cover, to me it’s no different than some of the other surprise covers that I didn’t think were worthy, but this is a good way to get everyone talking and worked up. I think for a young band this is a good thing. I’m not feeling them at all, I’m not into emo, according to Panic neither are they…but whatever. It’s all good. If they are trying to do something different. I have listend to this record as others keep suggesting and I still don’t care for this music. They are whiney, and live they don’t sound very good, which is usual the selling point for me. Still, it’s just a cover ultimately. I think the issue is that Rolling Stone didn’t use to be just a basic music magazine. Now we have to turn to Q for something serious….although there worship of Oasis is getting a bit tiresome….still I guess I would take Oasis any day over Fergie or Justin Timberlake….oddly enough, I’d take Panic over Fergie or JT…and that’s pretty scary to me.

RollingStoneReader | 1/22/2007, 11:18 pm EST

“the thing thats lame is that you cant tell panic at the disco apart from fall out boy and other mainstream acts today”

If you can’t tell Fall Out Boy and Panic! At The Disco apart when you hear their songs, you must have incomprehensibly awful ears. I’m literally speechless, because those two acts sound nothing alike.

I’m not even going to read the other comments on here, bc I know I’ll just get pissed off..but I have to say I am so excited!! and proud to see my boys on this cover! They truly deserve it! Please don’t diss me, I’m just giving you my opinion! P!4ever!!!

Zachra | 1/22/2007, 11:03 pm EST

I at least thought you’d put the Shins on the cover, being the most anticipated album of the new year. Hell, even Jay-Z deserves more than a News & Notes mention because of his girlfriend.

This might have been relevant when these guys were actually selling albums/in the general music buying public’s mindset. But they were “it” months ago when you decided to put some other undeserving/nonrelevant figurehead on the cover.

tim | 1/22/2007, 11:03 pm EST

when did rolling stone stop being about revolutionary bands and GOOD MUSIC? There are about 30 other bands that sound exactly like these guys that you could easily mistake them for… Find Some new ORIGINAL musician.. Sigur Ros, Kings of Leon, WILCO.. etic.

Drake | 1/22/2007, 10:59 pm EST

Hey Rolling Stone, I’ll take deleting my comment as a compliment, we all know what I wrote is true.

You pieces of commercial trash.

Sarah | 1/22/2007, 10:56 pm EST

holy shit ‘drake’ said it all

tom | 1/22/2007, 10:52 pm EST

the thing thats lame is that you cant tell panic at the disco apart from fall out boy and other mainstream acts today

guns n roses, pink floyd, velvet revolver, rolling stones, led zeppelin all have signature sounds

Drake | 1/22/2007, 10:46 pm EST

Dear Rolling Stone,
I have read your magazine for many years, and have enjoyed it, I always thought of it as the magazine that defined the rocknroll culture, John Lennon was on the first cover for crying out loud. But, as we all know, nothing can stay gold forever, and I’m sure Rolling Stone has been decreasing in the profits since the hip hop/rap genre started, but to do this, is ludicrous. There are great modern bands out there, such as the Shins who would have been a great choice, but you pick Panic! At the Disco, MTV babies (speaking of MTV, you fucking sellouts.) For such avid left-leaning liberals, I’m shocked at the amount of commercial I’ll do what the public wants attitude. Don’t deny it, look who’s on the cover. I’ve always thought of Rolling Stone as an epic adventure, in the likes of Hendrix, Morrison, Lennon, but now I know, it’d be better dead. It would have definetly gone out with a better legacy.

omfg | 1/22/2007, 10:43 pm EST

I can’t believe people actually waste their time complaining about how “OMG PANIC IS GHEYYYYYZ” or whatever.

To be honest, it’s really.
Really.
Funny.
And

HO NESTLY There have been MUCH worse covers than this.
So just..
Idon’tknow.
Don’t buy it if it’s that terrible.
Or cover your eyes and skip the Panic! pages. Whatever

sparklepink | 1/22/2007, 10:30 pm EST

ugh, ok, if you want to read my rant on disrespectful, hateful comments go read what i wrote about the fall out boy article; i don’t have the energy to repeat it.
anyways, i am a big fan of panic! and i have been since i first heard them way back in 05. i’m glad they’re on the cover. maybe some less panic! knowledgeable people will read the article, become more informed and then stop hating them. even if you still hate them (which is ok, i dislike plenty of bands) maybe you won’t be so quick to judge them or their fans.
and just so you know, not all of their fans are ‘teenies’. i’m not and i like to think i listen to a wide variety of music from panic! and fall out boy to the late 90s boy bands like BSB and nsync to third eye blind and the smashing pumpkins and every now and then even a GnR song pops up on my shuffle playlist.

Tron | 1/22/2007, 10:20 pm EST

Yo, G-G-G-G-G-G-GUnit!

kroll | 1/22/2007, 10:19 pm EST

they deserve this cover. (Y)

MUSIC FOR THE MASSES | 1/22/2007, 10:18 pm EST

Rolling Stone, you have just lost a 10 year subscriber. To think that you were was on the cutting edge of music journilism and now you have gone so low as to have these talentless fucks on your prestigious and legendary cover. Fuck you and your magazine. I will be hoping this band dies in a car accident on the way to the shoot. You guys must be stupid to think your readers will allow this. Question? Do you really think 12 year old girls buy Rolling Stone? Fuck you again.

Sarah | 1/22/2007, 10:18 pm EST

And for the love of all that is god; can you imagine what the world would be like if all bands sounded like Guns N’ Roses?

Variety is a nice thing; you should try it some time.

I like Velvet Revolver.
I even saw Slash live.

So. Rolling Stone didn’t put the Rage reunion on the cover (and considering the news of their reunion at the Coachella festival was announced yesterday, you can’t really blame them). So there’s no GnR on the cover. So you think you’re the only one who’s opinion on the music industry matters…

SUCK IT UP. It’s only for one damn month.

RollingStoneReader | 1/22/2007, 10:07 pm EST

I don’t mind Panic At The Disco at all… I think they’ve got a unique sound compared to the plethora of post-hardcore and post-grunge rock acts that are dominating popular rock these days. Their debut CD, frankly, was a breath of fresh air. The people complaining about this strike me as the types who desperately wish that it was still 1990, or 1970, or some other era. But it isn’t; rock music has moved on from GnR, folks. Nothing wrong with that.

Jake | 1/22/2007, 10:06 pm EST

First you make a reality TV show. Then you give the worst written review ever to The Shins. And now this.

Shame on you, RS.

Matt | 1/22/2007, 10:00 pm EST

Panic on the cover? Anything in the issue for people older than 15?

Melodramatic pap for pizza-faced mallrats.

metalkills | 1/22/2007, 9:59 pm EST

im not even a huge fan, but this is the greatest thing ever to see all you haters eat it. eat it all you haters! EAT IT!

Someone | 1/22/2007, 9:52 pm EST

Oh, well, this place smells like ignorence and hate. If you do not like them, then, fine, ignore it. It’s just stupid to come around to say shit about Panic because if you don’t like them, why the hell are you wasting your time here? Life is too short to take care about something that you hate. Yes, there are people that like this band (sometimes too much) and of course, people who don’t. There’s nothing in this world that everybody loves.

kafka | 1/22/2007, 9:45 pm EST

Rolling Stone is placing placing PANIC! on the front? Are they joking? This band is terrible. Why can’t Radiohead be on the cover? Panic! At The Disco are parasites to the music industry.

Surreptitious | 1/22/2007, 9:42 pm EST

Well I for one am in love with this band. And if you would take your biased, clouded, genre-specific mentalities and stuff it all of us who are capable of broadening our horizons would appreciate it. Honestly, this is an incredible, ground-breaking band and they deserve a chance. Quit stereotyping them.

We all

PLEASE GIVE MCR A COVER THEY ACTUALLY DESERVE IT!!!!!!!

Colleen | 1/22/2007, 8:23 pm EST

Some people seem to forget that RS just had James Brown on the cover, so it’s not like they’ve suddenly turned into a magazine for the teenies. There’s millions of types of music today, and, god forbid, RS takes notice of this and lets each of these different types of artists be on the cover. RS is not an indie magazine and shouldn’t act like it is.

rockandrollgirl | 1/22/2007, 8:23 pm EST

Oh and Velvet Revolver rocks. The combo of sounds from GNR and STP marry perferctly together. Anyone who loves real rock and roll truly appreciates VR.

I didn’t see the comment about GNR, I don’t know about the release of he promised new recording but without a doubt, Appetite for Destruction is, and will continue to be, one of the greatest rock and roll recordings of all time (so said this very mag). If you lisen to it now, it sounds like something that could have been released yesterday, and not over a decade ago.

So there is not comparison to GNR to any modern band. People can talk smack all day long about Axl and how old he is, etc. That doesn’t change the fact that GNR is a true example of what rock music is and what it is supposed to be. With all due respect to P!ATD and their fans– they could never replace the likes of GNR, because GNR has sealed their history in rock music. And maybe they’ve broken up and Axl does all of this wild and wacky stuff, but I don’t think ‘A fever you can’t sweat out’ will stand the test of time the way Appetite for Destruction has….oh, and not every GNR fan is 40 years old or older. That’s the thing about rock music, there are fans of every age, no matter how old the band might be be.

tim | 1/22/2007, 8:19 pm EST

panic at the disco ? horrific

guns n roses chinese democracy = great cover that i would buy

ziggy stardust | 1/22/2007, 8:12 pm EST

“So you people have nothing better to bitch about than the new GnR cd? grow up GnR will never be the same. Panic! is the new face of rock.”

that was BEYOND blasphemous, dude.

axl might be a lunatic who managed to destroy one of the greatest bands of all time, but even GNR in its current incarnation has more talent than panic! at the disco.

i’m not putting a lot of hope in Chinese Democracy ever seeing the light of day. but there’s still Libertad to look forward to! :D

they should put VR on the cover of Rolling Stone. not only are they better than fricking panic! at the disco, but hotter too. >D

HE MIGHT BE LIKE FORTY, BUT SLASH STILL HAS IT.

Tron | 1/22/2007, 8:11 pm EST

Yo cracka, keep yo mouf shut!! Them PanicĀ” honkeys ain’t real men, they just anorexic bizzitches, HIZZAH!!

…and for the record little teeny boppers, there have been many terrible artists that have graced RS covers (Michael Bolton, Blink-182).

rockandrollgirl | 1/22/2007, 8:07 pm EST

I think it’s fine that RS is putting P!ATD on the cover. I’m not a fan but every band deserves it’s day. I do think they put up the notice of their cover early because they knew many would be up in arms about it. This magazine talks much smack about P!ATD and they still made the cover, so I guess the Killers still have a shot at making the cover some day….when RS is able to admit that they’ve made a huge mistake writing the Killers off.

MNW | 1/22/2007, 8:07 pm EST

I love Panic!, and Rolling Stone is not sinking low for putting them on the cover… now “Fergie” thats another issue… lower than low!

aliseven | 1/22/2007, 8:00 pm EST

What’s the point of commenting on somthing when you dont even LIKE panic!

srsly haters, your just giving fuel to the fire. stonerboys&stonergirls, and 40 year old GNR fanatics who have no life, and will probably NEVER get Chinese Democracy.

whoa. i know what Chinese Democracy is! and I like panic!

ITS A SIGN OF THE APOCOLYPSE!

Sara | 1/22/2007, 8:00 pm EST

And its people like Jasmine who give panic! fans, (and ultimately panic! itself), a bad name. I am one of the original, honest-to-goodness fans. I personally have been listening to panic! since late summer 05 after discovering them online. Yes, I’ve been around for them since before the album hit and before those teenies were screaming about how hot the lead singer is. I love the band dearly, but I wish they hadn’t become so scene. I want the small, intimate shows back.

And as a reader of RS, I can definately say that they have done WAY, WAY worse with cover artists. So shut up.

PANIC! AT THE DISCO kicks asssss!! Blaha.. They are hilariouse bunch too!
Love You Panic!

grievous pimp | 1/22/2007, 7:59 pm EST

ps: check this photo above ^.
those dudes are the biggest burglars i’ve ever seen. remind me of that creepy kid from salems lot who scratches the windows. only multiplied. i am waiting for the next cobain (i know there wont be another, but you know what i mean. some kid, in his room, just destroying shit + blowing our minds in 18 months) to just blow all this shit away.

Clipsie | 1/22/2007, 7:58 pm EST

People. What right do you have to put down another persons favourite band. Not every fan of Panic!’s is a stupid teenie. I’m not for one thing. I like the music, it is different I find. If it isn’t what you like, then just be quiet about it. I don’t like alot of different bands and singers, and yes, I will exclaim that I don’t like them personally, but I won’t put them down. It’s rude, and stupid. Sarah has it right. :]

And Tron… What are you saying? Seriously… I don’t understand a word.

grievous pimp | 1/22/2007, 7:56 pm EST

i love how this site shows the vast difference between what rolling stone can be (and once was) and what it sadly is today.
the website hates panic, the corporate print magazine gives it the cover for advertising $$$.
when new media destroys print this will be the silverlining: this magazine still understands whats good and bad, but they print articles on features to keep that ad money coming in and eventually they won’t have to. panic is talentless, rolling stone editors know this otherwise they wouldnt vet goodman’s anti panic content. they just need that teen/myspace $$$.

ljs with love... | 1/22/2007, 7:50 pm EST

who the fuck is panic! at the disco?

Tron | 1/22/2007, 7:50 pm EST

Yo, Panic! is sissy man rock. They got no beats and bitches, just skinny crackas that look like bitches. Rolling Stone ain’t the shizzit no more. HOLLA!! (Wu-Tang, Wu-Tang)

BOB | 1/22/2007, 7:46 pm EST

Rolling stone is a shell of what it once was. It is sad that it has been forced to put no-talent losers like Panic on the cover to sell a couple of issues to tweens. The downfall of RS has been coming for a long time. I knew it was happening as soon as the boy bands and rappers started showing up on the cover.
RS should just fold and the publishers could start a new magazine that didn’t insult this once proud magazine’s legacy.

Panic, fallout boy, and anything purported to be “PUNK”, etc….is awful

Jasmine | 1/22/2007, 7:36 pm EST

Wow! I cant wait to get this mag. I love Panic! I have never owned a Rolling Stone magazine before but looks like I’m going to Friday! LOL! Thanks so much!

heather | 1/22/2007, 7:34 pm EST

good lord. shut up haters. youre quite ignorant and im losing brain cells at a rapid pase because of it.

believe it or not, alot of people like this band. pull your head out of your ass and get over it.

thanks.

Pookie | 1/22/2007, 7:28 pm EST

emo is so fucked up and retarded - i hate to label my music

i like Chemical Romance, Panic and FOB , if thats emo come kill me
but i don’t get the whole EMO tag
and plus you guys don’t need make up

Alison | 1/22/2007, 7:27 pm EST

hi, stop classifying people, sarah is right. they’ve obviously done something right to be on the cover of rolling stone magazine. i don’t see any of you selling millions of albums, so ..

Swaid | 1/22/2007, 7:26 pm EST

rock is dead, we have to admit it, Panic! then again, they’re alright.
i don’t get this whole emo thing like Dude you stepped on my feelings shit
but it is music and music is politics and politics is rolling stone magazine - hate it or love it, you can’t expect rolling stone to be covering one type of genre - imagine if they put a Country Star on the cover….wait have you guys ever done that? ….please don’t

i am a hypocrite

PUT Scarlett Johansson on your god damn cover, and Interpol or Beck

Sarah | 1/22/2007, 7:25 pm EST

Mer, unfortunately for you, teenage girls do happen to read.

I doubt the majority of the people putting down Panic!’s music has actually bothered to listen to their entire album - instead judging them based on their “fans”.

So you don’t like them.
Fine. They’re trying to do things differently. They’re trying to use elements in their music you may not appreciate - be it pop elements or rock elements. They’re trying to make videos that don’t just involve a band playing to a rotating camera angle.

Most importantly; they’re successful at what they’ve attempted to do (hence the fact they’re gracing the cover of Rolling Stone).

I know I will be picking up this magazine.

God knows it’s better than that Nickleback crap.

hey joe | 1/22/2007, 7:16 pm EST

How is this little boy band more important than a possible Rage renunion?

raindrops_on_roses | 1/22/2007, 7:09 pm EST

hey, i love panic!b they r my fave band!

Brian | 1/22/2007, 7:09 pm EST

wow…rolling stone has lost all respect…the fact that this band is getting the cover is a fucking shame. Music is over. Tom waits is never gonna get the cover of rolling stone. Dream on beck and qotsa. Aparently there wasn’t another band out there that desereved the cover of rolling stone? These “guys” are the antithesis of rock. They can’t even play their shit well.Have you forgotten the “rockstar” moment where their lead signer was hit in the head with A PLASTIC BOTTLE AND HE PASSED OUT COLD ON STAGE?! Worst fucking band in the world. It’s a tie between them and fall out boy, either way emo sucks! This is just wrong, that’s why i’m posting this. RS, you fucked up!

B-Rett | 1/22/2007, 7:02 pm EST

Panic! is NOT rock.
Panic is emo, and that is a poor fad, here today, gone tomorrow.

“Here Today”- Track off one of the greatest ROCK albums ever made. Can any of you emo fadsters name it?

muffin | 1/22/2007, 6:57 pm EST

rolling stone, you simply astound me with the quality music acts you choose to put on your cover.

please, PLEASE note the sarcasm

Space Pen | 1/22/2007, 6:49 pm EST

damn i love love LOVE rolling stone but NOW, after hearing this, let’s just say my respect has diminshed a wee bit. HOW COULD YOU?!

blegh | 1/22/2007, 6:49 pm EST

dude.come on. panic?.. at the disco????? jesus.

Jeff | 1/22/2007, 6:45 pm EST

That’s right Matt, I have nothing else to do. I’m sitting here at work getting paid. Well.

Where’s Chinese Democracy?

Mer | 1/22/2007, 6:38 pm EST

Oh my god. So are we now just giving covers to any dudes whose fans are awkward teenage girls?

dreadhead | 1/22/2007, 6:37 pm EST

if panic is the new face of rock. then it’s dead.

rockstarsbaby678 | 1/22/2007, 6:35 pm EST

so yeah Panic! has great stage presence, and some good lyrics, beats are ok. they are just OKAY. But i guess if you’re gonna throw Borat on the front, it’s better than Nelly Furtado.

Automatic for the People | 1/22/2007, 6:35 pm EST

Panic! disco sucks.

Tom | 1/22/2007, 6:25 pm EST

ewwwww….

T-Baby | 1/22/2007, 6:18 pm EST

The Shins have a new album coming out, and you put these wankers on the cover. I remember when you guys displayed good taste in music, but the memorary is fading quite quickly…

Matt | 1/22/2007, 6:00 pm EST

So you people have nothing better to bitch about than the new GnR cd? grow up GnR will never be the same. Panic! is the new face of rock.

kyguy | 1/22/2007, 5:57 pm EST

“Goofing around the set, fussing about their costumes?” Is this a fucking Tiger Beat slumber party?

T | 1/22/2007, 5:57 pm EST

What a joke

Jeff | 1/22/2007, 5:45 pm EST

Lame. Where’s Chinese Democracy?

Evan | 1/22/2007, 5:42 pm EST

Jesus Christ. And I didn’t think Rolling Stone could sink any lower…

Wayne | 1/22/2007, 5:39 pm EST

What, aren’t Justin Timberlake and Fall Out Boy doing anything this month?
