It took Squaw Valley, California’s Ingrid Backstrom only thirty seconds to earn her reputation as the world’s foremost female extreme skier. During a 2005 ski-film shoot, a helicopter dropped her onto a slope near Bella Coola, British Columbia, and she tore down a 1,500-foot cliff in just three turns. The feat was even more amazing when you realize it took Shane McConkey’s six turns to shred the same face. “It was the most amazing run of my life,” she says. Watch her turn some of the world’s biggest mountains into her bitches. Gasp. Repeat.

my sister tore ligaments in her leg while skiing back in high school and was laid up for months…she couldn’t be a cheerleader anymore after that, and this is the main reason why i don’t ski…gee, can anyone say avalanche?…
