
- We had pre-written text mocking whomever decided to risk career suicide with a lead performance in the screen adaptation of the Abba musical “Mamma Mia.” Then Meryl Streep went and signed on. Now what? SHE could actually pull this off.
- Ex-Germ Pat Smear will reportedly act as the music director of the forthcoming Germs biopic, starring that guy from ER as Germs singer Darby Crash. Clearly they need all the help they can get.
- Apple’s new iPhone hasn’t even made any money yet and already there’s a lawsuit. Technology company Cisco is reportedly suing Apple for trademark violation saying they own the rights to the iPhone name, which they apparently do. Will be interesting to see how perpetual cool-kid-on-the-block Apple will charm their way out of this one.
- Apparently Kanye West is not the only one who thinks the minutia of his daily life is fascinating beyond belief. HBO is sold on this fallacy as well! The venerable network is reportedly developing a series (co-executive produced by Rick Rubin - go figure) that will star West and focus on the “hectic life of the Grammy-winning artist.” Snore.
- Of the 769 cover of Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy” that went down last year, we think this one by Cat Power is up there in coolness. [via iknowmusic]
