Scott S. Arkansas | 1/19/2007, 12:39 pm EST

Put Mr. Brown on 12 covers with 12 feature articles and you will have just scratched the surface of what he did for music and society.

I grew up loving this man’s music,
dancing and soul. I want my children to see and know this legend also. They already love his music but they have never seen him. Could you please make the TAMI show clip available again?

James Brown was the baddest! Like Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Ray Charles, Otis Redding, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, John Coltrane, Louis Armstrong, Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross & Wilson Pickett amongst others he’s gone to the heavenly hall of fame.

I am a 64 year old white woman who discovered James Brown in my 20’s and have loved his music ever since. I especially liked his ballads which he sang straight from his soul. I am so sad for every unhappy moment he experienced in his life…he brought such happiness to others. He will always hold a special place in musical history…there is no one who could ever take his place…a one of a kind for sure.

To commentor “starbright79″ how could you mention Luther Vandross in the same iconic line as Duke Ellington,Miles Davis,Jimi Hendrix,Bob Marley,John Coltrane,Ray Charles,Louie Armstrong,Otis Redding,Marvin Gaye and Wilson Pickett?…Luther Vandross was just a singer; these other people were Gods.

Just like the Hendrix spot on the Woodstock Movie was later extended to full a blown concert video; the James Brown clip on the T.A.M.I. Show should be extended to a full blown concert video.Back in the 60’s I paid money lots of times in theatres to see the James Brown performance in that film. There should be lots of pre-1975 footage (entire concerts)for now and future generations to enjoy. He’s a showman, his performances throughout his career (pre-75,long lines circling the block at the Apollo for 5 days)were legend. Only good films (dvd etc.)could partially heal the lost of such an important recording and performing artiste. James Brown; One of a kind

My heart was saddened by the news of James Brown’s death. I will remember him always soooo full of life. He contributed so much to man-kind. For sure this man is an icon. He left his music and videos so that we may always witness God’s gift to us all.
