Were you, in a moment of supreme downtime, to draw list of things that Scott Weiland, ex-heroin addict and current Velvet Revolver frontman, genuinely loves, you might imagine college sports comes would come in pretty far down said list — somewhere in between PBS and root canals, say. Turns out he’s a ginormous fan of Notre Dame football, and earlier today he posted an open letter to Irish coach Charlie Weis, begging him not to go after a pro football gig. Here’s an excerpt:

Okay Charlie, at this point I am going to assume that you haven’t spoken to the Giants’ organization about their ‘potential coaching job.’ But LEAVING NOTRE DAME, your alma mater, without having achieved really anything of monolithic proportions like you’ve promised us, is absurd and unfair…
