Scott Weiland Gets His Beg On With Notre Dame Coach

1/9/07, 5:42 pm EST

Scott WeilandWere you, in a moment of supreme downtime, to draw list of things that Scott Weiland, ex-heroin addict and current Velvet Revolver frontman, genuinely loves, you might imagine college sports comes would come in pretty far down said list — somewhere in between PBS and root canals, say. Turns out he’s a ginormous fan of Notre Dame football, and earlier today he posted an open letter to Irish coach Charlie Weis, begging him not to go after a pro football gig. Here’s an excerpt:

Okay Charlie, at this point I am going to assume that you haven’t spoken to the Giants’ organization about their ‘potential coaching job.’ But LEAVING NOTRE DAME, your alma mater, without having achieved really anything of monolithic proportions like you’ve promised us, is absurd and unfair…

Wowee. Looks like he even spell-checked it.

i emailed the SF 49ers last year and told them to bring back the two minute offense, but they ignored me and didn’t make it into the playoffs this year!?…

I find it very amusing that Mr. Weiland has that much interest in sports all together. Furthermore, I wonder if he believes a celebrity’s opinion will matter to a coach who is looking to advance in the career he’s chosen. Really, isn’t that all anyone who values their job wants?
