Jacko Discovers MySpace, Commander Rod, New Used

  • Confirming long-standing rumors, Black Eyed Peas principle Will.i.am has confirmed that he’s working with Michael Jackson on a new album. Will says he’s also advising Jacko on how to harness social networking Web sites like Myspace to lure little boys — er — market his music. No release date has been set.
  • Rod Stewart gets awarded the title of Commander of the Order of the British Empire by the Queen of England — an honor that eluded all four members of the Beatles. Lame?
  • Speaking of the Beatles, word on the street is that Macca is attempting to rework an abandoned John Lennon song, “Now and Then,” which he plans to release as a single.
  • Grand Ole Opry veteran Del Reeves, who scored a Number One country hit with “Girl on the Billboard” in 1965, died on New Year’s Day after a long illness. He was seventy-four.
  • Fans of stringy-haired screamo outfit the Used who’ve been desperately awaiting new material (yes, these people exist) will get a little tide-me-over till the band releases their new album in April: The group is offering up a live CD/DVD, Berth, in February.

I DONT THINK THAT MICHAEL DID EVER MOLEST ANYBODY. ITS A LIE. THEY ONLY LIKE TO SAY THESE THINGS JUST TO MAKE THEM FELL GOOD ABOUT THEMSELVES AND MAKE HIM FEEL BAD ABOUT HIMSELF. WHEN I READ THESE RUNMOURS THEY ARE NOT OBVSILEY TRUE.

JayZ | 6/24/2007, 12:57 am EST

It only took him 3 albums to claim his place in music history amongst the Beatles and Elvis as the greatest musical artists of all time… simply amazing.

JayZ | 6/24/2007, 12:50 am EST

Anybody who thinks MJ hasn’t done anything good in 20 years knows nothing about music. My heart goes out to people who hate on the greatest musician of all time, they believe what they see and hear on tv. They probably think Bush is doing a good job too. WMD anyone?

ssssss | 2/18/2007, 7:33 am EST

People who hate MJ is stupid, because MJ is the greatest.

B | 2/16/2007, 4:06 am EST

You have to love libel don’t you? I don’t know whether MJ is innocent of the accusations or not, but it’s not up to some elitist piece of crap magazine to accuse him with potshots, but hey, since when was it ever about the music for you guys?

Hey | 1/5/2007, 10:52 pm EST

I wish people would stop picking on Michael Jackson. I am looking forward to his new album.

albajoe | 1/5/2007, 5:43 pm EST

this | 1/5/2007, 4:45 pm EST

likroper.com | 1/4/2007, 10:18 pm EST

i think it is strange the way the media and the world in general has focused upon what michael jackson may or may have not done…the polar ice caps are melting and we are all about to drown in our own stupidity…

Boner | 1/4/2007, 10:31 am EST

Don’t forget about my balls!

Sarah | 1/4/2007, 10:16 am EST

John Lennon was actually going to receive the Order of the British Empire whosit, but then decided not to accept it, right?
Or am I crazy?

MICHAEL = GOD! | 1/4/2007, 9:41 am EST

FACT!

across the universe | 1/3/2007, 11:54 pm EST

umm am I the only one who read that there is going to be a NEW John Lennon/Paul McCartney song? Oh nevermind a Jacko/Will.i.am callabo is way cooler!

phil | 1/3/2007, 11:30 pm EST

I think the offended people must include the person who released doves at MJ’s acquittal.

guitargirl | 1/3/2007, 10:57 pm EST

okay i see using myspace for new/unsigned bands…but Michael Jackson? necessary? i think not.

ken vail jr. | 1/3/2007, 10:43 pm EST

michael and britney should do an lp together and both derail their failing pop careers together! LOL

Coxy | 1/3/2007, 8:49 pm EST

Poor old MJ…The real MJ died about 15 years ago the sad boy bother we now see is one missed up unit.
I wish to remember him when he had talent and skill..RIP.

The worlds to pc now..

(sense of humor included) | 1/3/2007, 8:22 pm EST

I don’t think the offended parties were actual rolling stone subscribers…

I’m thinking they’re really those nutcases who worship a pop star who hasn’t done anything good in nearly 20 years like he was their god…

You know- the kind who usually spend their vacations strapping on the white glove and hanging out in front of the courthouse and cry, holding signs that say they’ll always love michael, and that he is, of course, the target of a vendetta or some such delusional nonsense.

But there’s no trial going on now…no boogeyman out to get Michael for his attempts to bring peace, innocence and a catchy beat to the world…and the airfare to Bahrain is more than they can afford…

So they wake up this morning still elated about him arriving stateside to bid farewell to the godfather of soul and fire up their computer-

Their homepage, of course, is a pre-run GoogleNews page with “michael jackson +new album” as the search criteria.

After reading how MJ is “pushing the boundaries” on his new album, they inevitably end up here and *VOILA!* their bubble is popped.

They’re reminded of reality.

On the plus side, they have a new enemy to condemn in all their free time.

These people are crazy and persistent, Lauren…we’re talking decades of them camped out in front of your house with primates, signs and costumes.

I don’t envy you.

Give me a break | 1/3/2007, 8:02 pm EST

Jacko is a pederast and he’s repeatedly gotten away with it. He uses monkeys and clowns, rollercoasters and nyquil to prey on innocent children. Almost dropped a baby over a railing for chrissake! Fuck him.

He deserves any jokes coming his way, and Lauren’s wasn’t even that bad.

metalkills | 1/3/2007, 5:53 pm EST

RS has some of the most sensitive readers ive ever damn seen. seriously simple jokes cause you all to go haywire, denouncing the mag and swearing youll never read again. quit being such pansies

charliemapleton | 1/3/2007, 3:16 pm EST

Hopefully Mike will stick with pure, genuine r&b material again-that’s what orignally, naturally molded him.

Aries73 | 1/3/2007, 2:59 pm EST

Flagrant Foul 2 to Ms. Gitlin. Please eject this keyboard thug RS.

duder | 1/3/2007, 2:14 pm EST

Gimax | 1/3/2007, 1:03 pm EST

Congratulations LAUREN GITLIN, you’ve just set a new low for Rolling Stone. F’cking ridiculous.

DC | 1/3/2007, 12:45 pm EST

Get ready to crash and burn.

Killa | 1/3/2007, 12:41 pm EST

Wecome back Michael! See if you can get Fergie to pose nude in the liner notes.

Stimpy | 1/3/2007, 12:35 pm EST

That Jackson comment was just too obvious and easy - Either take the higher road or don’t do it at all.

jungleland | 1/3/2007, 12:24 pm EST

Let US Weekly bash MJ’s personal life. If there is something worthwhile musically, then Rolling Stone should step in. And if the music is crap, then you can give him hell for that.

I can not stand Black Eyed Peas, but if this guy can make a good MJ Cd, then more power to him.

Xtar | 1/3/2007, 11:53 am EST

The stupid comment about Michael Jackson make me sick. I stopped reading in this point.

Jab | 1/3/2007, 11:50 am EST
