
- Confirming long-standing rumors, Black Eyed Peas principle Will.i.am has confirmed that he’s working with Michael Jackson on a new album. Will says he’s also advising Jacko on how to harness social networking Web sites like Myspace to lure little boys — er — market his music. No release date has been set.
- Rod Stewart gets awarded the title of Commander of the Order of the British Empire by the Queen of England — an honor that eluded all four members of the Beatles. Lame?
- Speaking of the Beatles, word on the street is that Macca is attempting to rework an abandoned John Lennon song, “Now and Then,” which he plans to release as a single.
- Grand Ole Opry veteran Del Reeves, who scored a Number One country hit with “Girl on the Billboard” in 1965, died on New Year’s Day after a long illness. He was seventy-four.
- Fans of stringy-haired screamo outfit the Used who’ve been desperately awaiting new material (yes, these people exist) will get a little tide-me-over till the band releases their new album in April: The group is offering up a live CD/DVD, Berth, in February.
