Kid Rock has had a rough few months, but rather than sit around and pout, the Detroit cowboy has let it slip that he’ll be venturing out of the country to spend some quality time with the troops stationed in Iraq and Kuwait. Unlike the usual media-fest that celebs like to mount when they do these little USO thangs, Kid — who has historically been pro-troops and made several previous trips to rally the folks stationed overseas — is flying (practically) solo, armed with just a friend and an acoustic guitar. (Read: no camera crews, no entourage.) “This year for Christmas I wanted to make sure somebody was thanking our troops for their service, no matter what our views are on the current situation in Iraq,” he says. “I could be spending Christmas with my family, but in my heart I know this is the right thing to do – not only for our men and women in service, but also to set an unselfish example for my son and send a strong message to the world to be thankful and think of others at Christmas time.” Aww.

I hate this dudes music…..but what a great attitude. Thinking of others before himsself? If more people thought this way, we wouldn’t be in this war at all.
Love,
Jables

Hey I saw that guy in the rodeo scene in “Borat” …hehehe He should be playing his guitar to the women and children over at the Baghdad ghettos…

You gotta give it to Kid Rock. That’s the Christmas spirit and if more people were like that year around. The world would be a better place.

This loser still tours?

I concur Jables. His music is totally lame, but good on him for thinking of the poor soldiers who got duped into fighting this war by President Palpatine. I am firmly opposed to this war but respect the hell out of the soldiers because they do a job that I couldn’t/wouldn’t ever be able to do, but is unfortunately very necessary in today’s world.

Navy Reservist1 | 12/21/2006, 6:28 pm EST
You people and your anti-war BS. Get off your asses and donate to your troops who are risking their lives overseas.
We thank them for all of their sacrifices.
If more of you thought like Kid Rock and less about your own worthless political opinions this world would be a better place.
Kid Rock | 12/21/2006, 7:47 pm EST
I pity the poor troops, they have no choice but to listen to that war-loving douchebag and his geeetaar
Voice of Reason | 12/21/2006, 8:13 pm EST
What’s wrong with that? I think they’d much rather be entertained by live music from Kid Rock then, say, be forced to read the latest edition of Rollingstone. Rollingstone, you have journeyed from a cutting edge musical magazine of it’s era to meaningless, drivel.

Poindexter | 12/22/2006, 8:16 am EST
Good for him! I’m not a fan of his music but I have respect for what he’s doing. Joan Jett did this a few years back.
Nan | 12/22/2006, 11:00 am EST
The Kid’s got heart. And his music isn’t for everyone, that’s why there’s vanilla and chocolate….as far as the war goes….we need to be there right now and we should support the troops NO MATTER WHAT we civilians think of it.
cval | 12/27/2006, 1:24 pm EST
A whole lot of people need to get their heads out of their a$$e$. Freedom is not free, and you’ll understand that when sharia law is forced on your childern and grandchildren. Thank God for Kid Rock and all those who support the men and women on the front lines… God Bless..
