Maybe wolfmother could get some more coverage if they wrote catchy pop songs. FOB as you guys are calling them, write catchy pop songs, period. Are they a “punk” band, no. I didn’t even have to use my rocket scientist degree to figure that out. But they write songs that are catchy, that a lot of people must enjoy. At least the vocals and lyrics are better than anything ever written by the Killers.

Watched this with the volume down so I could truly appreciate this wonderful slice of cinema. It appears that they start the video singing to a bunch of cardboard cutouts that substitute for a real audience. The rest of the video shows off the many uses of cardboard today, from hip-hop producers to generic imitation fans to the storyboards of the Beastie Boys video they swiped for the middle of this piece (You gotta fight for your right to have cardboard). The end is an arty b&w affair that gives the impression of a bootleg(presumably from a camera hidden in a cardboard box). Just remember: trees need love too.

I’d be cranky too if I was named after a male duck, and Rolling Stone didn’t get me off anymore with all of that coverage of popular music that they have been covering for the past few decades. Just because you like a certain genre of music, and think you have the only opinion that counts, does not mean you get to edit the magazine. That job is much too difficult for an animal with webbed feet, and an obviously small brain.

I don’t understand all the hate directed at Fall Out Boy. I’m a fan of Wolfmother, Radiohead … and Fall Out Boy. This isn’t contradictory to me. I think they’re all good bands.

I think all of you haters need to grow up. If you all hate FOB so much why are you reading an article about them? On a website for a magazine that you seem to hate too? I mean come on get over it. FOB is popular the song and the video are great and the magazine is doing what everyone in the world is doing. Making money. They have to publish what is popular so that they can keep going. Rolling Stone isn’t one of my favorite magazines but they are still a good read. And you all need to lay off of EG, she has an opinion just like everyone else and this is her job, just because you don’t agree with her doesn’t mean that she is a bad writer. You all need to learn some respect.

Nothing personal against FOB but to the person who said that this song is better than “anything” the Killers have written. Anything is a strong word– I’ll admit that this FOB song isn’t the worst one I’ve heard–it didn’t make me hurl. Quite honestly, I think it’s the first that stuck with me, I actually love the change in the middle of the song, but I am a bit dumbfounded by this whole Babyface production thing. As for vocals, I would say that FOB’s lead singer is one of the best modern singers out there. I’m no FOB fan, but I always thought this after hearing ‘Dance, Dance’. Brandon Flowers doesn’t sing like FOB but he can sing, and although the lead from FOB is quite good (I often tell my friend who loves them that he could go on his own and do quite well)…let’s not get it twisted….

There is no comparison to the Killers, as the Killers have written “All These Things” and “Read My Mind”, and I haven’t heard anything by FOB that comes close. Mind you, to me, these are two very different bands muscially and don’t even come close to comparing. But I think the Killers for all the smack talk people do about them is one of the best bands right now.

dude, the video is hysterical. the thing with pete and the camera phone? come on, classic. and the sinister gates moment on top of the casket? channeling wierd al. i thought the video was worth watching, especially if you want a few laughs.

i’ve been listening to these guys for 5 years now, and their music has always, for the most part, been good. now that they’re famous, they can’t stopped getting flamed. i believe that when jay z and babyface approach you and say “can i write a song with you?” that says something about the artist. (yes, that did happen to pat stumph)

His motions and outfit is imitating Synyster Gates (one of, if not, THE greatest guitarist in the modern rock world) from Avenged Sevnfold. END OF STORY

But the beginning with the cardboard cutouts is influenced by Stone Sour’s “through glass” video. Whether that was a copy or not I can’t be sure, but I think it’s amusing the way a cardboard, fake band like FOB used them.

um i not sure if they were actually making fun of A7x’s video seize the day or just ripping it off but if they were they r totally cocky and have no right to think they can do that because fall out boy doesnt even compare to avenged sevenfold and when i turned on fuse and saw this crap and the scene with the funeral i got really mad and almost confused, why would they mock them, it would be like Jeff Weaver mocking Mariono Rivera, fall out boy is so bad and a7x is an incredibly talented band

I didn’t really care for the band before. Then a buddy of mine showed me the vid, and I saw that solo scene. FOB can fuck themselves. Avenged Sevenfold, have way better songs, and Synyster Gates fuckin owns. I’d like to fuckin see that FOB guitarist play an A7X solo.

Okay, so basically i was never really interested in seeing the video for This Aint A Scene its an Arms Race. But my best friend had me watch it, i found it incredibly insulting actually. Avenged Sevenfold has been my favorite band for like 6 fucking years, and when a band like fucking Fall Out Boy comes crashing down from absolutely no where and gets famous off shit, then it pisses me off when they cant come up with their own fucking creative solo intro. In my opinion, they need to either get their own ideas, or cut the solos out. A7X FOR FUCKING LIFE!

Avenged Sevenfold has more talent than Fall Out Boy can even dream of having. The fact that most of FOB’s fans are a bunch of trend-following teenage girls doesn’t really make them anymore appealing to me. As soon as I saw this video, I lost even more respect for their talentless music. At least Avenged sevenfold has guitarists who can play real music instead of a few chords, repeating the same lines over and over and over to get it stuck in your head. A7X’s lyrics and music are much more meaningful and have such a better sound. This video sucks. End of story.

ok so besides the fact FOB sucks i jsut thought id add this in here. So ive been an A7X fan since they were underground. and this video of FOBs copies NUMEROUS aspects of previous A7X videos.lets start at the top. so the hotel room seen stolen from A7X video for “Bat Country” evident from the trashing hotel room, fat guy(in replace for the original fat ladies) and Pete’s bass lookin like a LoiusVoiton bag(ZVs Guitar looks like that) next and the most obvious is the solo intro. total copy of A7X “Sieze the Day” video. evident by everything. then the very end when it shows old footage from 2003. the live show was copied from the 2003 release of A7X first video “Unholy Confessions”. evident by the live show, and especially, from Pete jumping into the crowd. in A7Xs video they show a guy jumping into the crowd at the end of the video. so Fall Out Boy fans, theres the cold hard truth that your fave band is nothing more than untalented wannabees that cant come up with original ideas to save there life. and the slightest bit of respect i had for them went out the window when i saw this video. all they are doin is embarrassing themselves and insultinf real musicians.

They did copy Avenged. I could understand it if maybe FOB had actual talent but they don’t. Stump sounds like he’s choking on a cat and the musicians show no complexity. Sorry, guys. They’re unoriginal and untalented.
