Rolling Stone’s Best Bands On MySpace: Final Round!

12/15/06, 5:37 pm EST

Rolling StoneGood job! You guys have given us a veritable shitload of awesome bands to consider for our Best Bands On MySpace contest. Today marks the last day in which we will be posting the one’s we’ve liked best so far on Rock Daily, but there’s still plenty of time to get your pet band a nomination. As we type, a collection of sweatshop workers/interns (programmed with impeccable taste in music) are chained to desks in our basement tirelessly waiting for your favorite band’s MySpace pages to load. They will be locked up all weekend, pouring over your submissions (remember, you can only nominate via our MySpace page – nominations posted in the comments section will not be considered) and when we come in Monday morning we’ll set them free, officially terminating the nomination period. So, you know, go nominate some cool bands over the weekend, k? In the meantime, here are today’s pics for the five of the best bands you nominated since yesterday:

  • Continental Divide – “The Days Drag But He’s Old”: www.myspace.com/continentaldivide
  • Couple – “Now That I Can See”: www.myspace.com/couple
  • The Call To Arms – “The Ghost Behind You”: www.myspace.com/tcta
  • Treaty of Paris – “Rollerskates”: www.myspace.com/treatyofparis
  • Jerzy Jung – “Never Say I’m Afraid”: www.myspace.com/jerzyjung

continental divide!
they sing songs about boys, but they’re still pretty fucking good.

Sal Holcomb | 12/15/2006, 7:11 pm EST

Continental Divide made it! Good, they deserve it. They’re purely about the music.

Meredith Alexander | 12/15/2006, 7:22 pm EST

I’ve seen Continental Divide play a few times-they are AMAZING! I’ve never seen a band that didn’t care about anything but getting their words and emotions across through their music like Continental Divide.

kerem | 12/15/2006, 8:06 pm EST

omg i love continental divide! i found them randomly on myspace. they so deserve it, i haven’t liked any of the other bands on here so far.

Bradley Speaks | 12/15/2006, 8:07 pm EST

Continental Divide are one of the first bands in a while to live up to the gravity of its name. Whether recorded on myspace or live in small bars or record stores, the members always seem to know that what they are doing is more than just wasting time. The sonic quality seems to carry with it a weight that knows that making music is not only about having a good time, but trying to merge thoughts, emotions, and experiences with tone, metaphor, and rhythm that often seems many mountain ranges distant. Continental Divide deserve all recognition and consideration you can give them.

Ha | 12/15/2006, 8:14 pm EST

What do you do when your four memebers are done commenting?

Uh Oh | 12/15/2006, 8:16 pm EST

They actually have seven…three more to come.

Bradley Speaks | 12/15/2006, 8:30 pm EST

none are members.

The Dude | 12/15/2006, 9:18 pm EST

This should be an easy pick, the only band on here with any talent is The Call to Arms. They’ve got a new fresh sound that the music scene has been desperately looking for, for a long time.

Jack Mehoff | 12/15/2006, 9:27 pm EST

At least 100 years ago, The Call to Arms started doing it for the lolz. They’re a pretty batshit crazy band and kill bears on whim. They certainly don’t tolerate any spawn camping and will pwn any n00bs in the way, especially the bands listed above. Unlike the rest of the bands they attract more than 15 year old fanboys, because they’re in it for the music, not the butsecks. I’d rather have a manwhore take a shitpiss on my chest instead of listening to these other bands, The Call to Arms will rock your face right off they’re so good.

a. | 12/15/2006, 9:43 pm EST

Oh,continental divide.
by far. by far.

KFC | 12/15/2006, 9:47 pm EST

Not to mention the lead singer of continental divide is a hottie.
i guess they’re okay.

Cameron | 12/15/2006, 9:54 pm EST

Continental Divide..I guess?

Andru Embree | 12/15/2006, 9:59 pm EST

Couple is superior to all… They sound like God jerking off in your ears… And I like “Now That I Can See” very much. Please listen to it… If you’re man enough.

Totally not Andru Embree | 12/15/2006, 10:00 pm EST

Yeah, woo! Couple is the best!

taufiQ_boyFromMalaysia | 12/15/2006, 10:01 pm EST

by a foreign magazine…..i think

taufiQ_boyFromMalaysia | 12/15/2006, 10:04 pm EST

now that i can see….hahah really cool song!;D

adibmuhammad | 12/15/2006, 10:06 pm EST

woohoo! yeah, couple rocks!

awesome easy-listening songs, especially “now that i can see”, coupled with powerful live acts (pun intended… haha) makes them the best of the pick.

give your ears a listen, guys!

OMFG | 12/15/2006, 10:15 pm EST

Dinosaurs at one time ruled to earth until they evolved into The Call To Arms

The only band here that even remotely has any talent let alone a profesional sound is The Call To Arms, the end.

MusicLuvers | 12/15/2006, 10:31 pm EST

couple is the best!!

Grey C. | 12/15/2006, 10:33 pm EST

TCTA cured my cancer :-) …but then Continental divide gave me AIDS :-( .

My vote definitly for The Call to Arms, there’s no question.

couple is the best among the others!
vote couple!

Raef | 12/15/2006, 10:46 pm EST

The Call to Arms is where it’s at. If you’re into the generic already-been-done sound, then support the other bands. If you’d rather support talent, then vote for The Call to Arms.

Ili | 12/15/2006, 10:50 pm EST

Less is more. That is why Couple rocks!!! ‘Now that I Can See’ deserves to be heard worldwide.

Eds | 12/15/2006, 10:51 pm EST

Couple rocks my world! Now That I Can See rocks my panties off! Thanks for highlighting them, guys. I love!

mister k | 12/15/2006, 10:52 pm EST

couple!

TrainPig | 12/15/2006, 10:52 pm EST

The Call to Arms, the next biggest band in the world. There is simply no competition for them here, that’s for sure.

jearb | 12/15/2006, 10:53 pm EST

My vote for The Call to Arms.

jearb | 12/15/2006, 10:54 pm EST

The Call to Arms is where it’s at, they definitly get my vote.

jearb | 12/15/2006, 10:55 pm EST

oops, my internet is messed up

HST | 12/15/2006, 10:59 pm EST

wow, The Ghost Behind you by The Call to Arms is epic! They get my vote.

Justin | 12/15/2006, 11:03 pm EST

I’m giving my hell yes to The Call to Arms.

Jack Mehoff | 12/15/2006, 11:07 pm EST

couple is the best! yeah!

HA | 12/15/2006, 11:17 pm EST

I don’t know about The Call To Arms but that last comment gets my vote.

Arden | 12/15/2006, 11:19 pm EST

continental divide cares about what they do. it’s obvious any time you hear or see them. not only do they deserve this because “the days drag but he’s old” is a great song, but because they’re a great band overall.

Chris Stout | 12/15/2006, 11:20 pm EST

Actually having listened to all of these songs (why do I get the feeling I’m the only one?) The Call to Arms is the only one that truly sounds professional.

Class President | 12/15/2006, 11:23 pm EST

I want to be class president

Jimbo | 12/15/2006, 11:29 pm EST

Continental Divide encompasses the tonal emotion the respects the pure intensity that provides such bands the means to not only perform, but convey a sense of ease and joy. Their music is simply about the music, and the feel is about the artful touch that only the most talented of artists are able to exemplify. These young artists are painting the world with colors that are beautiful. The votes shall reflect the superior grasp Continental Divide hold on the music they express.

Grr | 12/15/2006, 11:32 pm EST

Continental Breakfast needs to stop posting nerd comments about themselves

Lennat | 12/15/2006, 11:48 pm EST

I’m totally for Couple’s “Now That I Can See”!

HEFFE | 12/16/2006, 12:05 am EST

WOO! BRING ON THE CALL TO ARMS

Colleen | 12/16/2006, 12:08 am EST

Whoever says Couple needs to be burned at the stake. Sounds like a terrible The Strokes rip-off. I gave up on Continental Divide’s music player, but I’m pretty sure they gave me AIDS, too. TCTA…thank you, drive thru. Treaty of Paris gets a close 2nd.

Shittles McManahan | 12/16/2006, 12:10 am EST

I’m voting for The Call to Arms, as if there was any competition.

Edith Morocco | 12/16/2006, 12:18 am EST

Couple!

Colleen | 12/16/2006, 12:18 am EST

Oh yeah…I got Continental Divide’s player to work and I think my speakers threw up. La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la…la.. ..la…

dan | 12/16/2006, 12:44 am EST

this is weird… continental divide… yeah i guess they’re pretty good (hahaha)

Bill Clark | 12/16/2006, 12:44 am EST

Couple’s Now That I Can See is the only one that had me turning up the volume and I gave them all a listen. They are the real deal-pure, powerful pop! I want them to tour my town so I can see them live.

Chris | 12/16/2006, 1:24 am EST

Couple! Proof positive that quality music transcends geography.

SUPERSTACK | 12/16/2006, 1:42 am EST

dali | 12/16/2006, 1:52 am EST

Couple, without a doubt.

helmi | 12/16/2006, 1:54 am EST

couple!!!
totally awesome!!

Travis Jefferson | 12/16/2006, 1:54 am EST

Continental Divide is the best of these bands! I took the time to listen to each one, and CD’s song is the only one that actually struck me as being REAL music. It conveys the story in a different viewpoint, showing depth and understanding. The music gets to you and that’s what it’s really all about.

john | 12/16/2006, 1:55 am EST

i pick couple.
they’re pretty good.

Amanda | 12/16/2006, 1:55 am EST

Hey check out Dizzy Hollow, they are my favorite!!! they have a unique sound, great music

Duglas T Stewart | 12/16/2006, 1:58 am EST

I love Couple. They make music that has a pure instinctive quality that seems to be absent from so much pop music now. There is something primal but also something melodious and full of wonder at the heart of what they do.

Syaz | 12/16/2006, 1:58 am EST

Couple

Couple Fan | 12/16/2006, 2:03 am EST

Couple is the best by FAR!!!
Their music is so catchy!!
Couple rocks my socks!!!!

Wiggum | 12/16/2006, 2:04 am EST

Cut the crap and let real people post instead of bands saying they have gravity and true expression. My vote goes for the band who doesn’t bother to put their moms’ on here. The Call To Arms is getting funny comments if it’s them or not.

Wiggum | 12/16/2006, 2:06 am EST

The other funny thing is all these comments are popping up here but the bands myspaces are getting none. Wonder why?

Kim | 12/16/2006, 2:10 am EST

Couple for the win!

Kim | 12/16/2006, 2:13 am EST

Wiggum is the worlds greatest detective!

nizang | 12/16/2006, 2:35 am EST

to colleen, just fyi and other info, couple started waaaay before the strokes started.

Colleen | 12/16/2006, 2:37 am EST

I guess the strokes had to show couple how to be successful.

Webster | 12/16/2006, 2:52 am EST

Crap- I just wrote about how much I love Continental Divide for their creatively addicting sound and their rough-cut quality (that assures the listener that it is actual talent, not studio tricks that please my ears) and how I find it interesting that Continental Divide sings from the perspective of a woman when they are guys- but my post was screwed up. Dang- well, you get the idea.
PS. How can anyone ever not fall for the line “I’ve got a boyfriend and he’s 23″?

Meat | 12/16/2006, 3:12 am EST

Give me The Call to Arms or give me death.

Meat | 12/16/2006, 3:15 am EST

If you’re into poorly recorded whiney crap, give Couple a listen to, very very very over rated.

orang melayu | 12/16/2006, 3:34 am EST

i vote for couple.

Ramey Sadler | 12/16/2006, 4:13 am EST

Dude, the honesty and hard work put into Continental Divide is awesome. They don’t even make it on the flyer for half of their shows they play and they’re so amazing. I’m for Continental Divide all the way. Nathan, Bradley, Jared, Stone, and Brian… I Salute Thee.

Kev | 12/16/2006, 4:15 am EST

The Call to Arms all the way

TA | 12/16/2006, 4:18 am EST

I wish Continental Divide would stop putting press releases in the comment section and trying to make it look like someone gives a crap, we get it you can use big words.

Ramey Sadler | 12/16/2006, 4:21 am EST

I like how the fans for Continental Divide have something mroe to say than, “oooh (insert band name) is the best!!”

TA | 12/16/2006, 4:26 am EST

There’s a difference between fans and one person with the same writing style posting the same/similar crap over and over again. It’s transparent as glass.

Ramey Sadler | 12/16/2006, 4:29 am EST

I wish people would just say/vote what they like without anyone else having anyting negative to say about anyone else’s opinion… all that matters is your opinion, not what your opinion of someone else’s opinion is…

Jonathan | 12/16/2006, 4:29 am EST

Voting for Couple simply because “Now that I can see” is a brilliant slice of pop genius.

TA | 12/16/2006, 4:32 am EST

you just complained about people just coming out and saying what they feel hypocrite “I like how the fans for Continental Divide have something mroe to say than, “oooh (insert band name) is the best!!”” Nice contradiction, and you’ve done a pretty good job of self exposing the true integrity of Continental whatever.

Jeremy L | 12/16/2006, 4:41 am EST

My vote goes to The Call to Arms, there’s nothing here that even comes close. It’s like putting a heavy weight in a light weight tournament.

Ramey Sadler | 12/16/2006, 4:45 am EST

whatever, i said that because of your “transparent as glass” comment, cause we’re saying shit a little more transparent than anyone else… also if you knew a thing or two about glass you’d know it reflects… look in the mirror and you should see an idiot. peace.

Conrad | 12/16/2006, 4:46 am EST

Please let Couple win, Rolling Stone!

dubliner | 12/16/2006, 4:53 am EST

Couple for me!

OMFGWTFBBQ | 12/16/2006, 4:58 am EST

I have to agree with Jeremy L, there’s no competition here, my vote is for The Call to Arms.

Over the edge | 12/16/2006, 1:10 pm EST

I’ve listen with my ears and they hurt. I am really suprised that this Canadaian guy Jamie Walsh did noy get mentioned what the heck are you people listening to.

ez | 12/16/2006, 1:16 pm EST

I’m sure he’s a great guy and everything, but I went to this Jamie Walsh’s myspace to listen to all the noise made on this page (where he is not included by rollingstone.com, mind you), and I turned my speakers off. I choose continental divide over the other bands listed here, but Jamie Walsh over none of them.

sorry.

I’ve been thinking for a COUPLE of times…
i didn’t have to make a COUPLE of decision..

absolute COUPLE!

Joe | 12/16/2006, 7:31 pm EST

Jerzy Jung is one of the most passionate musicians I’ve ever known. She pours everything she has into her songwriting and performances and her recordings are fantastic. I’m thrilled that she made this list! I’ve listened to all the other bands on this list as well and I sincerely believe she is the one who deserves to win recognition for her work.

Harry F Rogers(A.k.A Nameless) | 12/16/2006, 7:57 pm EST

Hell yeah, most new bands today suck, because either they lack musical talent but have good lyrics or they have bad lyrics but great musical talent, My vote is for the band that’s called “The Call To Arms”, not only are they musically talented, but there lyrics to their songs touch a chord in you that most music today can not deliver.

Vince | 12/16/2006, 8:04 pm EST

Jerzy Jung is an amazing singer/songwriter who has one of the most sultry and hypnotic voices around! Her songwriting is well though out, her music is not written in haste, and her execution live, and on tape, is clear, clean, and heartfelt.

I have seen Jerzy perform many times and I am convinced that she is, by far, one of the best unsigned female artists around.

The Rook | 12/16/2006, 8:08 pm EST

I saw Jerzy Jung perform and let me tell you, they bring amazing energy and get the crowd into their music as if you’re the one who’s singing. They’re off the hook!

Nick | 12/16/2006, 8:38 pm EST

This is a pretty cool contest. Out of all the bands I liked The Call To Arms it was the only song with balls to it.

Adam J. Speaks | 12/16/2006, 9:33 pm EST

Continental Divide = excellent music. They have really worked hard to make a sound that is truly original. Their solid musical background has me convinced that they will continue to challenge the norm and produce tasteful music.

pekthong | 12/16/2006, 9:38 pm EST

COUPLE. yes, i do.

Izmir | 12/16/2006, 10:03 pm EST

xLeeGenDx | 12/16/2006, 10:26 pm EST

The Call to Arms are a Breath of fresh air from all the other image obsessed bands with no substance in their lyrics.

The Ghost of Christmas Future | 12/16/2006, 10:27 pm EST

Some artists have to work really hard to be great, and some artists are just born to be performers; Jerzy Jung is the latter. You might choose Jerzy Jung to be one of the Best Bands on MySpace or you might not, but sooner or later, she’ll be on your cover.

baby | 12/16/2006, 10:38 pm EST

Dan | 12/17/2006, 1:37 am EST

If some of you have yet to check out Jerzy Jung, you are missing out on someone who is truly a spectacular songwriter/singer. There seems to be very little differential in the sounds of voices of many musicians today, Jerzy is not one of them. With her distinct voice and poetic lyrics, its no wonder she is continually gaining a substantial fanbase. The music on her myspace page now is very good, but also very different form her earlier recordings, which delve more into the acoustic and soulful. If you can find yourself a copy of her demo from 2005, you’ll understand what I am talking about. Jerzy Jung is far and away my favorite musician. Check her out, you will not be displeased.

Pwnage | 12/17/2006, 2:15 am EST

Call To Arms by a long shot

couple are the best! luv their work.

Austin Padilla | 12/17/2006, 3:25 am EST

You guys, Treaty of Paris deserves it more than any of these other bands. Why? Because they do not only have great music and lyrics, they have emotion and expression. They encourage diversity and are FRIENDS with their fans. I have met them many times and they are truly an amazing bunch, they deserve this more than anyone else out there.

Lea | 12/17/2006, 3:25 am EST

I would have to say ” Treaty Of Paris” because they are hard working band and they do deserve this opportunity to be on the Rolling stone Magazine. Oh yeah I forgot I love them. ^_^ Also they like my friend and me. ^_^

Colleen | 12/17/2006, 3:33 am EST

No f*ggotry!!
Vote 4 The Call To Arms!

stacey. | 12/17/2006, 3:45 am EST

treaty of paris, hands down.
good doods, good music, good times.

bone4you | 12/17/2006, 3:46 am EST

The Call to Arms rules, everything else in this line up is awful. Putting these bands in comparison to them is a joke. If you like generic been-there done-that non-creative crap, the go ahead and vote for bands like continental divide or couple, names that are just as bad as their poorly recorded and poorly written music.

Joonbug | 12/17/2006, 3:47 am EST

Jerzy Jung isn’t only sultry but soulful. Feel like a teaspoon of soul? Maybe a little Jerzy can cure the common cold!

sandals | 12/17/2006, 3:49 am EST

brookly_in_da_houze | 12/17/2006, 3:56 am EST

Lips of Your God has a touch of Fiona Apple, undertone of Sade, a medolic dash of Tori Amos, the sincerity of Five for Fighting, and the warmth of a fire place…need I say more??? No.

Iceman | 12/17/2006, 3:58 am EST

Wow, The Call to Arms by a long shot, that song is effing amazing.

diamante | 12/17/2006, 3:58 am EST

Gotta go with my hometown boys, Treaty of Paris. Great music, great MySpace, great live shows, and all around great guys!

Paul Stornelli | 12/17/2006, 9:23 am EST

I guess its a hard thing to decide whos best in music but,I will give you a few things to think about there are 4 legends still to this year grossing the most money of any other band that goes out to tour they have influenced everyone you younger people are voting for
Your parents would probablly dish out 3 4 hundred dollars to see them and they are the ones dishing out to buy your sterios and mp3s ect now Mik Jagger Kieth Richards.
Ron wood Charlie Watts are in there 45th year of filling stadiums world wide Cmon we got alot of talent out there but have they will they be around40 yrs from now The Rolling Stones without question should be named the band of the century they have played for half of it a rolling stone gathers no moss The my friends r the greatest Rock and Roll band this planet has ever known and Ibelive some will come close to there longevity but no one band will acomplish what these 5 legends did

Anna | 12/17/2006, 9:25 am EST

My vote goes to Treaty of Paris, they just have awesome music and deserve this chance to be in Rolling Stone Magazine!

Kevin Prchal | 12/17/2006, 12:43 pm EST

Treaty of Paris! In Chicago, there’s the Fall Out Boy scene and then there’s the Treaty of Paris scene. These guys work harder than any band I know, and they always make sure you get the best show for your ten dollar admission. It’s about time the other side of the Windy City scene was recognized. Plus, their guitar players are good in bed…

i dunno | 12/17/2006, 12:44 pm EST

Treaty of Paris. Most definitely.

ss | 12/17/2006, 1:47 pm EST

I was rather annoyed by the couple supporter’s posts to this page until I listened to their songs and figured out why – rather annoying music elicits rather annoying supporters.

because they have neither, and because they are not from another over-fetted and over-played region of the US (see: chicago), my vote goes for Continental Divide.

Madison | 12/17/2006, 1:52 pm EST

“treaty of paris are the next fallout boy.” you mean that in a good way? good lick explaining that. not a bad song. but the next fallout boy? what an aspiration.

Tori | 12/17/2006, 5:48 pm EST

I have known Treaty of Paris since before the band started and I remember the first show they ever played. And every show since then that I have seen, which has been quite a few, they bring more and more energy to the stage. After every show they are always out there to sign autographs, meet the fans, and just hang out. No matter if the show was in a small bar or a huge venue, they treat each one the same, with the same excitement and passion. I hope that everyone has a chance to see them play and meet them because they are some of the most down to earth guys, and one of my favorite bands.

Lisa Hendrickson | 12/17/2006, 6:03 pm EST

Treaty of Paris without a doubt. They totally deserve this and rock.

Catherine Thomascheske | 12/17/2006, 6:14 pm EST

Treaty of Paris all the way!!! They Rock!!!

Leah B | 12/17/2006, 6:30 pm EST

I have known the Treaty of Paris boys for a long time, and not only are they amazing musicians (whose talent, appeal, and looks combined make them the next undiscovered rock sensation), they are also great people. This is one of the most serious, hardworking ensembles I have ever encountered, sacrificing so much to be able to bring their music to as many as will listen. They’re innovative, constantly improving, and using all of the technology at their disposal to try and be heard. It’s not about the party or the glamour for these guys, it is about the music and their fans. I can’t imagine a more deserving band.
Love always,
Leah B

Michelle L | 12/17/2006, 6:38 pm EST

Treaty of Paris deserves this more than anyone. They have worked so hard to get where they are today. They are genuinely nice guys. Also, their music rocks!

Jerzy Jung is spectacular! She gets my vote!!

Major Woody | 12/17/2006, 7:16 pm EST

I have had a chance to listen to all the names mentioned here. I know i’m a patient person. Two bands I really like are Continental Divide and Jamie Walsh

Matt Gallagher | 12/17/2006, 7:39 pm EST

Someone on here commented that “Treaty of Paris” is the next “Fallout Boy”. Who the hell wants one band to sound like another? Not this guy. My vote would have to go with Jerzy Jung. Her live performances are electric, and furthermore I find her original music a breath of fresh air, which is truly needed today with most of these new bands having the same damn sound. Good luck Jerzy!

Desiree | 12/17/2006, 7:40 pm EST

Treaty of Paris has my vote. They are really talented, and their drummer is like the sweetest person I have ever met!!

bootie bubble buns | 12/17/2006, 7:42 pm EST

Even though nobody in the band is in my family, I vote for The Call to Arms! They just formed this year, so they still have time to actually go somewhere and I’m sure they will.

chels | 12/17/2006, 7:50 pm EST

treaty of paris is amazing. i’ve seen them live, and they rock! they deffinately have my vote!!

Beano | 12/17/2006, 7:52 pm EST

Jamie Walsh is the next Waldo of Where’s Waldo! Seriously though, stop voting for someone who’s not even on the list. Suck it up and vote for one of the bands left…like The Call To Arms for instance. Now that’s a good choice!

Claire | 12/17/2006, 8:25 pm EST

Jerzy Jung is amazing. she has beautiful, honest music, and an amazing voice. she definitely gets my vote!!

Dez | 12/17/2006, 8:26 pm EST

Treaty of Paris. Love em. While all the other artists are talented, TOP gets my vote for sure!

Disappointed | 12/17/2006, 8:26 pm EST

I really hoped that Rolling Stone would put a little effort into finding bands that don’t sound like carbon copies of every band we already hear on the radio.

Find us an original sounding band damnit. I am sick of hearing clones!

The Evil Twin | 12/17/2006, 8:36 pm EST

Continental Divide is amazing. They kick ass and have a bright future.

dirankesuma | 12/17/2006, 8:48 pm EST

Charles Mengers | 12/17/2006, 9:49 pm EST

I have heard Jerzy Jung in concert twice, and have enjoyed her programs both times. She has a unique approach in her compositions in which she usually features a rhythmic piano accompaniment as an obligato to her voice parts. I have spoken with her about her works, and suggested that she might consider composing songs about her special friends.

Music isn’t a competition even if those idol shows are jangling things for some people…

…but even so, COUPLE have already won because they love what they do and you can tell this when you hear their unpretentious top pop that you can shake to, but not shake off. “Now that I can see” and all their other tunes seem to have the ability to lodge themselves in your consciousness like the best pop should.Pure & lovely. Classic.

seriously if you aren’t going say anything, but repeating a band name 5,000 times in one post, just put their name once and say why they should win.

I think Continental Divide should be considered number on in this here contest is because they have a sound distinctly different and make emotional statements with their music.

Ellen | 12/18/2006, 12:40 am EST

Jerzy Jung is incredible! Her lyrics are real and evoke emotion and she is a wonderfully entertaining performer.

The Weez | 12/18/2006, 12:41 am EST

Renee Music | 12/18/2006, 9:53 am EST

I was blown away by Jerzy Jung. It’s hard to believe that such a young talent can make such beautiful music. She certainly will be around for a long time, and I look forward to attending one of her concerts in the future.

Bill H. | 12/18/2006, 10:34 am EST

Jerzy Jung should be everyones favorite, this talent didn’t happen overnight. She has worked at her craft since childhood. Playing the piano and loving music at such an early age is what makes the passion of her songs so powerful. This is a talent that needs to be noticed. As a singer/songwriter she will get the break she has worked so hard for.

Andre | 12/18/2006, 10:40 am EST

Jerzy all the way. I have seen her play in NY and NJ and she rocks! No one else compares!

John Shaughnessy | 12/18/2006, 11:35 am EST

Jerzy Jung’s music blows me away. Definitely one of the very best out there.

-aziz- | 12/18/2006, 11:35 am EST

without a doubt, Couple is the real deal! they resuscitated pop back to life!

I'm right. | 12/18/2006, 11:46 am EST

It should be Jerzy Jung and I’ll tell you why. Some bands on the radio today are so specific to the current trends that once the times change, they will be obsolete. But Jerzy’s lyrics and sound are timeless. Although the song that is nominated has some electronic components, much of her music is just vocals and piano. That is a timeless combination. People of all ages love her music and are attracted to the stories that she tells with her lyrics. One way or another, Jerzy Jung will be a star. And that’s what I think. Best of luck to everyone!!

JIMMY | 12/18/2006, 11:48 am EST

I love JERSEY JUNG!

Marcy | 12/18/2006, 11:54 am EST

JUNG-le Jim | 12/18/2006, 12:09 pm EST

CLEARLY JERZY JUNG SHOULD BE IN THE TOP 25. I read that Dick Clark once said the Beatles would go nowhere- let’s not repeat history here! This is Rolling Stone’s BIG chance to prove that they really do have GOOD TASTE!!

Mel | 12/18/2006, 12:16 pm EST

Continental Divide totally all the way.

They craft really lovely songs without generic hand claps or “sultry vocals”. There’s something very honest about them, like you’re both in on a secret.

Even the catch phrase on their page surpasses all the other bands. Come on now.

Bill Trubble | 12/18/2006, 3:20 pm EST

Jerzy Jung is a real talent and she can be influenced by great musicians and artists without being a copycat or wannabe. I’ve had the privilege of seeing her perform live and she is electrifying. Give it up for JJ!

Treaty of Paris is the only real band on that list that has truely influenced me as a person. I can really relate to their lyrics and their songs can either pump me up for a game or cheer me up when im having a bad day. they sound good on the record and sound good live and they’re entertaining to watch. they are real nice guys too, not like some of the other stuck up bands. they’re real. they’ve worked hard & deserve evey bit of success they have.

I wonder how many of these are a direct result of bands pushing for people to come here to comment.

If your song is good enough, it will be in the top 25. No amount of comment spam is going to help you if your song sucks.

Matt Mead | 12/19/2006, 8:37 am EST

JERZY JUNG is the real deal folks. But she won’t tell you that. She’s an accomplished pianist, and empassioned vocalist whose musical depth and integrity speaks for itself. She won’t tell you that either, and that’s what makes her truly authentic as an artist. You may not know who she is right now, but you will soon. Beautiful music always speaks for itself.
