Ahh… the great American pastime, reveling in other people’s tragedies. What Rolling Stone doesn’t mention (because they’re too lazy to read real news reports, apparently) is that Trey told the Whitehall Police Chief that he’s got a prescription pill problem. The Police Chief said Trey told him he hopes this is a wakeup call that he needs help. As a long time fan, I certainly hope he gets help. Before he hurts himself, or more importantly, someone else.

It’s unfortunate that the police feel it necessary to tell the press what Trey said, how it happened, etc.

He’s got incredible talent, but his lack of self-control around drugs (which led to Phish’s hiatus and then break-up) is lame. He’s becoming washed up (his solo stuff is weak). Better get the band back together before people stop caring

He is a very good person and has helped many others who have had substance problems and has done many beneift concerts for good causes.
He is human and unfortunately in the spot light because of his talent.

alright here is the real story. we went to a little town in upstate new york to see a guy that trey went out with off and on for about five years. he had some buddys that he had got shit off of before in that town. so we stopped by there on our way out.we sat around and smoked some hash with them .then we headed back to vermont.on our way back trey was all pharmed out and about hit a three year old little girl when blew a stop sighn.so those people called the cops and gave them our plate#.so me trey & his boyfriend all went to jail because trey had to have his pills.trey finaly told the cops who he got them from for a lesser charge.they were just a couple of phish kids they didnt care because it was for trey.well there it is.

OK, so Trey did a stupid, idiot, irresponsible thing involving drugs and automobiles. I realize this is an absolute FIRST among rock stars, but c’mon.

The guy needs help. What happened in Whitehall is no reflection on Phish or their music or (for God’s sake) Trey’s abilities as a guitar player. It just means he needs to get his chit together.

It sounds like drugs had totally taken over Phish by the time they decided to quit for good, and one can take Trey’s slurred speech and sloppy playing at Coventry as Exhibit A (the “Sloth” from that show is an audio train wreck).

I just hope Trey can sort out whatever problems he’s having in his personal life and get back to doing what he was put on this Earth to do.
