Brooklyn singer-songwriter Sufjan Stevens has promised to write an album about each of the fifty states. The quietly prolific indie darling i
s four percent done, having released Greetings From Michigan and Illinois. Despite the long journey ahead, he took some time away from his ambitious project to talk to our Austin Scaggs about how Arthur Lee influenced his songwriting [listen], the strange things you hear when you hang out in deserted churches at night [listen], and why, despite his strong Christian ties, Christmas is just like any other day for him [listen].

Interesting. I listened to each song hoping for something new and fresh. I liked the guitars from Ivy League, Chelsea Williams’ nice clear voice–pleasant, I waited for something to happen with Black Affair, and Beauty was nowhere, but Locksley…I listened to the whole song surprised that I was into it…and I wanted more. Nice. Then I listened to their other stuff. Also very nice. Winners.

Ok so there was Stevens at school in the 60s.
Big deal, Atlantic records founder died last night.
Just wanted to tell you that it’s Eric Clapton who was the most defined bad guy doing songs about events from the 50s. lena was a spin from the girl named leni whio’s surname was used as govt print works, did over 500 million books.

I wish he would hurry up and announce the next album that he is going to release!
I sure hope it’s: “Howdy! From The Lone Star State, Texas!”
