Who Is the Most Crushworthy Band of 2006?

12/13/06, 5:20 pm EST

Wolfmother Raconteurs

We really like this allmusic-conceived idea of charting this year’s most crushworthy bands. Yes, some of them may be physically attractive or whatever, but we’re talking more about artists that give you that woozy, weak-in-the-knees feeling based on their sound alone. Bands whose songs make you instantly start plotting mixtapes. Bands that have totally heartbreaking, life-defining tunes. (And the occasional hot lead singer is cool too).

Our nominees for most crushworthy band of 2006 would include The Raconteurs, Wolfmother, Be Your Own Pet, The Long Blondes and the Hold Steady, for starters. Who has made your heart skip multiple beats this year?

The Strokes- Jules’ vocals in Heart in a Cage are deadly! The Arctic Monkeys are definitely up there too as well as Babyshambles, the View and Dirty Pretty Things.

Imogen Heap. Okay, she’s a little weird looking, but there’s something truly sexy about a 6′1″ musical genius who can sing like that.

So I just wanted you all to know that I hate the new format of the ROLLING STONE DAILY NEWSLETTER. If I wanted to have to click on links to read the news I would just go surfing around. Can you not just send us the story in its entirety? Plus half the time it’s not worth the time looking. Also the “writer” sounds like an old geezer trying to be cool with his teenage daughter’s friends, “we have the deets” … who says that?.
