- Gwen Stefani continues to pretend she’s going to choose family over career down the line. The singer, who just released her second solo album (a record she swears she thought she’d never make) apparently says that in five years – when her son Kingston is in school – she may retire. We think we all know what that shit is.
- The dude who supposedly purchased a much-discussed rare Velvet Underground record from a vinyl-finding Canadian is possibly not for real. Some reports claim that the buyer known as mechadaddy was duped into purchasing the record by his friend logged onto his account and bid for him, but that he can “barely afford gas for [his] car.” [via BrooklynVegan]
- Meanwhile, the ring Elvis Presley wore to marry Priscilla is reportedly going up for auction (at an actual auction house) and is expected to fetch about as much as the VU guy thought he got for his rare record. Rock auction related irony clearly knows no bounds.
- Rappers: Stop traveling with assault rifles, truncheons, and ten-inch blades. Busta Rhymes is substantially closer to going to jail for assault and harassment charges now that there’s a weapon charge to go with them. He allegedly beat the shit out of some fan who spat on his car back in August, and police found a giant knife when they searched his SUV.
- Diana’s boys – Prince Harry and Prince William – are organizing a concert to honor the tenth anniversary of their late mother’s death, held on what would have been her 46th birthday (July 1st) at Wembley Stadium in London. Sir Elton John, Duran Duran, Joss Stone, Bryan Ferry, and Pharrell Williams will apparently perform. Everyone will cry.
- The holidays always remind us of sticky drug-and-booze-fueled southern rock festivals. Now is a great time to start planning for Bonnaroo 2007, which will be held June 14 – 17th.
- Foxy Brown has apparently not been behaving while on probation. She hasn’t yet moved on to accosting innocent facialists or dental hygienists but she has apparently not been meeting with her parole officer or submitting to court-mandated drug tests. Now she’s back in court.
