New Favorite Band: Tigercity

So Aussie adora-punkers the Grates played at Mercury Lounge in NYC last night and damned if we were gonna miss Patience and Co. tearing up the stage. (We ran into Ms. P downstairs before the band’s set, where she was purchasing more of her trademark tights online and being generally awesome.) Lucky for us, we arrived early enough to catch opening act Tigercity, a surprisingly excellent disco-pop outfit from Brooklyn. The second the synthy Bee-Gee’s-meets-Prince funk hit our ears, we were forced to bust serious Saturday Night Fever-inspired moves against our will (and much to the dismay of surrounding audience members). Bottom line, these dudes know how to make you shake your groove thang. They don’t have an album out yet, but you can jam to four songs (our favorite is “Are You Sensation”) on their Myspace page. In fact, you must. That’s an order.

don’t hate… these guys are true gentlemen, loads of fun, and have an exciting stage presence…. all tigercity haters probably can’t dance, and have never been laid.

im luving this band. its nice to hear something that you can listen to in your car,at the club, and when your just hanging out. i love it….very refreshing
