- For the first time EVER (apparently) U2 gave a live performance of “Window in the Skies” during their Vertigo tour stop in Japan. Bono reportedly introduced the song by saying, “If this doesn’t sound good, blame Edge.” We have nothing snarky to say about this as watching (even shitty YouTube versions of) U2 performances melts our dark cynical hearts.
- Does anyone have a dry-erase board? We could use a big ass timeline to keep all the Guns vs. Eagles facts straight. Apparently Guns N’ Roses’ manager Merck Mercuriadis denied the EODM’s claim that, when Axl announced the band had been tossed off GNR’s tour Tommy Stinson took threw his bass and shouted “Fuck you, that’s it!” at Axl, who promptly threw the bass back at him. “The Eagles Of Death Metal were asked to leave the tour not only because Guns N’ Roses’ audience hated them,” Mercuriadis said, “but because they could not handle the response. They were supposed to play a 60-minute set but left the stage after 42 minutes due to the hostile reception.” We are standing by for Eagles inevitable, witty response.
- An apparently severe bout of the notorious voice-killing flu sidelined Flowers for the Killers scheduled performance in Dublin. Get better Brandon! (You can’t amuse us if you can’t talk.)
- Beyonce will reportedly be headlining the Essence Festival when it takes place in New Orleans this summer. She’s very honored etc. Meanwhile, soon you’ll apparently be able to “groove” like Beyonce while sitting in traffic, as a competitive Destiny’s Child dance game will be available on your mobile phone. Obscenely short, mama-Knowles-designed, sequined hot pants not included.
