UK To Discover DJ Dylan, Blur Reunion Possible? Billie Joe Goes Green

11/22/06, 8:52 am EST

green day

  • Billie Joe Armstrong must have gotten the Bono talk: The band is getting a social conscience, and the first cause on their list is America’s oil addiction. Green Day, in partnership with the National Resources Defense Council, is encouraging fans to apply punk rock principles to environmental issues via this Web site.
  • It disturbs us to think that UK Dylan fans have been WITHOUT Bob Dylan’s Theme Time Radio Hour for all this time, but at least that’s soon to be remedied. The BBC will begin broadcasting the show in December.
  • Graham Coxon admits he would consider reuniting with Blur if asked, but like a five year old child, wonders if the experience would be fun or scary.
  • The Cure will be performing at next year’s Ultra Music Festival in March, and their appearance will reportedly coincide with the release of a new studio album.
  • Perhaps you’ve already downloaded all the Bloc Party’s new album A Weekend In The City, which leaked to the masses. But you could pretend it’s the first time all over again by streaming “The Prayer.” [via Stereogum]

No need to be “disturbed” by the fact that Dylan’s UK fans have been without Theme Time radio hour… File sharing programs work just fine in Europe, thank you very much.

Well at least Greenday is doing something other than making pop-punk music popular. I think this is a good idea, theres tons of Greenday nuts at my school, maybe something will be done…naaah teenage apathy is on a rise.

wow green day is becoming just as lame as bono, ya the issues are important but do you think that the 14 year old greenday fans have cars anyway. bono isn’t a rocker any more, greenday should watch themselves too or they might get neutered too. trash the eye liner too the old shit rocks don’t go emo on us or you’ll just be another 13 in a dozen mtv fake up.

“The band is getting a social conscious,”

GETTING a social concious? First of all, I think you mean conscience, and second of all, what was their entire last record about???

I think it’s great what Green Day’s doing. They’re not selling out, they’re doing what the most popular rock bands should do-especially in these times-and that’s using their influence to spread the word about what’s going wrong in this world. I don’t think it should distract them from their music, but they have already established a voice with ‘American Idiot’, and now they’re following through to let everyone know they’re serious about this. There’s nothing wrong with that, so stop taking offense everytime a band like Green Day or U2 shows they have an individual voice and cares about world issues.

Green Day is a joke. They play dress up as if they were around during the late 70’s and contemporaries of The Clash and Sex Pistols… they’re a notch above The Monkees!

Big Bob | 11/22/2006, 2:54 pm EST

goddammit…green day is on my list of things i hate now….right in between bono and those annoying croc shoe things.

What’s wrong with Green Day giving back?
And this has nothing to do with whether you like Green Day or not

Go Green Day! Saving the world one idiot at a time

Green Day, yes they’re seperate words, aren’t really the wannabes of British punks. Oakland had their own punk seen BTW and it was good. Operation Ivy and Rancid led the pack and Green Day followed. Good for BJA. He’s from Oakland/Berkeley area, so he knows what it’s like living around a wasteland, sorry I lived there too for a while. Crocs are very comfortable BTW.

I liked Bloc Party when they were named a Gang of Four.
