Steely Dan Tease With Casino Gig, Madonna Fights Aid Workers, Jay-Z Bonds With Emotional Rockers

Steely Dan

  • Steely Dan to tour in 2007? They’ve announced a show at a casino in Santa Ynez, California on January 19th. We expect Playstation Three-style virtual stampedes for tickets.
  • Madonna is reportedly battling with an Australian couple for the right to adopt another African child, this time a baby girl. The couple work as Baptist aid missionaries and have lived in Malawi for seven years with their two kids. Has Madge finally entered an adoption fracas she can’t get out of?
  • Taking Back Sunday cover the Killers’ “When You We’re Young.” Better than the original? Totally not.
  • We worship Stephen Malkmus for many reasons and now we have one more: He has recruited Sleater-Kinney drummer Janet Weiss to play with him band The Jicks on an upcoming U.S. tour. Stephen. We bow to you.
  • Apparently Jay-Z has announced that he guests on the intro to Fall Out Boy’s new album. Does this make Jay-Z lame or Fall Out Boy cool?

It’s okay if Steely Dan doesn’t tour. I have no problem with that at all. They should stay at home and watch TV.

As Nostradamus predicted (and directly referenced as well in the Al Stewart song titled strangely enough “Nostradamus”), the Tiger of Hyrcania and his friend the Satyr, will resume their wonton ways. As tribute to the tour, the entire continent of Asia will band together as one and demand to be now known as Aja. Upon receipt of Jessica Simpson and 11 Wal-Marts, Steely Dan will than set forth upon the land they celebrate in song. Sadly, the 11th quatrain from Century VI spells trouble for the Dan: The two will be reduced to fratricide, the consipirators will be dead while sleeping. Good Luck keeping a backing band with that fortune in store!

We suck.

I always though Jay-Z was cool. I hope this is a clever marketing ploy, and not an actual endorsement for fall out boy’s music. Rappers seem to have the worst taste in “rock” music.

TBS’s cover is amazing, I dare say better then the original.

And that makes FOB sell-outs of the year, I don’t care that Jay-Z is their label head, I don’t care that he’s just speaking not rapping, FOB should stick to their mofo pop punk roots bring in dudes from the scene to sing on the album, I don’t want an album that moves shit I want to hear an album thats good and true to the FOB ideals and fans. Crap, that made no sense.

I’m sorry but the above paragraph by MarkArrow is the best thing I have read in this magazine in months.
I wish he had a ‘zine to read, cause RS is pretty much a free place to blag on one’s self or blit on everyone else. Please sir. . .can I have some more?

When writing the paragraph below i was referencing the Mark Arrow below as well–it was above at the time of writing. Sorry for the confusion but if you have read any other of Elizabeth Darling’s stories its not a new feeling to you.
