Bob Dylan Inadvertently Influences Starlets’ Closets?

11/20/06, 5:55 pm EST

Bob Dylan Lindsay Lohan
Is there any cultural realm Bob Dylan does not dominate? The New York Post has done an in-depth investigation into Dylan’s impact on women’s fashion, citing the return of skinny jeans and blazers and flat-heeled boots as evidence of Dylan’s sartorial omnipresence. While recalling the various incarnations of Dylan fashion, we started daydreaming about what would happen if his Rolling Thunder Review-era look became favorable on the runways. Sienna Miller (whose current style owes almost as much to Dylan’s mid-60s androgyny as it does to Kate Moss) would trot around in white face and black eyeliner, flower-adorned hat permanently attached to her head.

Of all Dylan’s fashion-related visions, of course the Don’t Look Back era is the coolest, but how awesome would it be to see Lindsay Lohan sporting the truly absurd cartoon cowboy fringed leisure suits Dylan now seems to favor? Dylan can totally pull it off cuz he’s . . . um . . . Bob Fucking Dylan, but if one of those little fashion bitches tried to swing it they would fade away just by attempting to approximate such fundamental hipness. Just ask Donovan.

Which of Dylan’s many looks would you like to see revitalized?

Another moronic piece by journalism-lite major Goodman. This one so underwhelming and stupid no one is even biting.

Sweetlew | 11/20/2006, 6:40 pm EST

Please don’t put Lohan on Dylan’s face. He doesn’t deserve this mockery.

Stop Rolling Stone!!! | 11/20/2006, 6:53 pm EST

God! Lohan is terrible…the fact that you mentioned her in the same paragraph, let alone that AWFUL picture. I’m considering cancling my substription to MTV-I mean Rolling Stone and subscribing to something that cares about music…maybe Filter or Spin. Fuck You Rolling Stone!

Sanchez | 11/20/2006, 6:56 pm EST

Seriously, pick another song list of the day before you post shite like this. Another 30 seconds of my life Elizabeth Goodman has stolen from me…Lame.

Lobsters | 11/20/2006, 6:57 pm EST

You are an idiot.

Josh | 11/20/2006, 7:13 pm EST

This is the dumbest fucking thing I think I have ever seen on this site. Or maybe any site for that matter.. I feel ashamed that I read this.

Bob Dylan | 11/20/2006, 7:24 pm EST

Is this what Rolling Stone has come too, a ratty gossip mag?

wereallgonnadie | 11/20/2006, 7:24 pm EST

I think it’s time some of the alleged writers at RS started leafing through back issues so that they can learn the difference between interesting subjects and objects of interest. This is becoming Tigerbeat or Teen Cosmo or some such similar dreck. This latest insult is just plain infantile, not to mention photoshop work that is beneath amateurism. I used to look at these list pages for a laugh, but to borrow a line from the Lampoon, that’s not funny, that’s sick.

BOB DYLAN | 11/20/2006, 7:29 pm EST

This is a great piece. Bob Dylan’s influences on not just music but also several other art forms, pop culture, and American celebrity are unmatched. Very interesting.

Chanel 4 Life | 11/20/2006, 7:30 pm EST

Well, I think Bob Dylan thinks this is not what Bob Dylan is about if Bob Dylan ever really thought what Bob Dylan is about: A Performer.

another bob | 11/20/2006, 7:54 pm EST

ha ha. i love it! some people here need to lighten up.

i always thought bob dylan was a bad dresser.

PjMacD | 11/20/2006, 9:08 pm EST

rollingstone should spend less money on ‘Style editors’ and more money on drugs…uh rugs i mean rugs…. Well it’s obvious Dylan cetainly isn’t dominating current Rock music… but I hear he has some fine rugs

semi wood | 11/20/2006, 9:10 pm EST

you are all missing the point here….the point is, Soul Asylum Rocks!

PjMacD | 11/20/2006, 9:27 pm EST

rollinkstoned should spend less money on.. on …oh man I’ve got to get off thses rugs..

Michu | 11/21/2006, 12:04 am EST

Lindsay is such a maroon. oh my god don’t put her stupid face on dylan’s body

Anonymous | 11/21/2006, 12:21 am EST

well that was a waste of time on an article.

fashionista | 11/21/2006, 1:30 am EST

i doubt lindsay lohan knows who bob dylan is, but she’d look rockin’ in a pair of spandex, platforms and a pink feather boa.

checkered scarf | 11/21/2006, 6:28 am EST

I defy anyone to look good in a spotty shirt like the one he wore for MTV Unplugged. Only Bob is allowed to wear a thing like that!

travis.watkins002 @ YIM | 11/21/2006, 7:02 am EST

Goodman is dumb as hell, dylan has always looked like crap…

checkered scarf | 11/21/2006, 8:04 am EST

Oh and by the way this is an idiotic article. Put Bob’s head back. He’s actually still quite pretty.

stinker | 11/21/2006, 9:51 am EST

Bob Dylan, a fashion icon??? Someone cool??
Miss Goodman, u should, definately, get off the crack! what’s the matter with you? i mean, likin his music is one thing, but sayin he’s stylish n shit?? wow!
And anyway, what’s the point of askin urself such a question?? I mean, do we wonder what these “bitches”, as u refer to them (jealous??!!??), would look like dressed as .. say Axl Rose? or Eminem? Or Freddie Mercury? or Jim Morisson??
Sorry, but that’s a silly n pointless atricle.

Drunk and Obese | 11/21/2006, 10:04 am EST

how about the look 1 year ago when he didn’t have another worthless album out? that was my fav.

Mike | 11/21/2006, 11:55 am EST

ALERT!!!! As much as this seriously pains me to say it, anyone considering buying Dylan’s latest album, don’t waste your money. He has plenty of other great albums to chose from. Modern Times is as boring as it comes.

TheLawyer | 11/21/2006, 12:42 pm EST

The look I would like to see Dylan bring back would be of him looking away in disgust from you idiots who come up with foolish ideas about a guy who has succeeded in what many people cannot, being himself.

BARRY LEVENE | 11/21/2006, 1:11 pm EST

Just who really cares what Dylan wears??? The man is a musician,singer/songwriter…. just let him get on with it……

Jacob | 11/21/2006, 1:36 pm EST

Bob Dylan is one of the greatest thieves in American music history.

Alias | 11/21/2006, 1:39 pm EST

How stupid are people to actually care to post their comments…

Leticia | 11/21/2006, 1:50 pm EST

HA! | 11/21/2006, 1:54 pm EST

It’s bad enough the writing/topic is third rate at best, the fact that it’s just retreading the New york Post…

Fuck counter-culture, fuck the road paved by decent Journalists before you, let’s just burn this fucker to the ground proper…

goldcoast45 | 11/21/2006, 1:58 pm EST

well, i guess you wanted to stir things up. Looks like you won. I’m laughing along with Bob. Please folks get a life.

The Lonesome Organgrinder | 11/22/2006, 9:57 am EST

Boy, for people who don’t care about this topic, you all sure have a lot to say about it. Get some fucking jobs. Sheesh! Oh, and it’s Dylan, circa 1966, before the motorcycle accident. He was the King of Cool.

the REAL mighty quinn | 11/22/2006, 9:20 pm EST

dear ms. goodman-jones,

did you ever get the feeling that something’s going on here, but you don’t what it is?

adam | 11/27/2006, 6:08 pm EST

late 65-may 1966 before the accident at the peak of the amphetimine years with the polka dots and shit awsome

crazydiamond | 12/20/2006, 2:55 pm EST

like many people my opinion is that Bob Dylan’s fashion is always changing. take a look at his concerts in the mid-70s compared to the mid-60s compared to today. he seems to keep one thought in mind- cool.
