I’m no fan of Rolling Stone’s bloggers (here’s an idea, Ms. Goodman: have an original thought every now and then. Another idea: don’t post with sand in your underthings.), but how many rock groups are even worth giving a rat’s a$$ about these days.

As long as there are groups that cater only to their underground base of fans, rock as a genre will suffer for it because casual fans will turn away from these groups and look for something more appealing.

One last thing: hating an artist’s success says more about you, Ms. Goodman, than it says about the target of your scorn.

Put Axl on the cover. Sell a billion copies. Be cool again.
