- So-called fifth Beatle George Martin will be inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame.
- Jimmy Buffet wants Robert Akard’s Web site shut down because the site is “falsely representing itself ‘Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Online Store for Merchandise’” and allegedly marks up the products while implying the site is endorsed by Buffet. A Nevada judge reportedly shut down this person’s last Jimmy Buffett-related site.
- The marketing blitz for Snoop Dogg’s new album Tha Blue Carpet Treatment, will include a new line of Snoop-endorsed pet products. Snoop says: “Go get some quick, dogg-gone-it! ‘Cuz Snoop Dogg said so. Bow Wow!” Seriously.
- You can reportedly outbid the current winner of Alice Cooper’s Mustang GT on eBay for something like 35k. There are blood-red seats involved.
- The UK chart dudes think Beck’s sticker art constitutes an unfair advantage, but they’re tentatively allowing official bootlegs to enter the charts. This includes those insta-bootlegs offered by companies like Concert Live, which allow you to purchase live recordings of shows you’ve just attended.
