Playlist of the Day: This Rummy’s Gone To Heaven

11/9/06, 8:06 am EST

Ah, how the mighty have fallen. On the heels of the Dems’ House sweep (and the news that Brit dumped K-Fed), Bush decided to can Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld (perhaps a vain attempt to pretend like this whole Iraq war thing was not his idea in the first place?). Whatever his motivations, it gets us stoked. If U.S. politics keep looking up, we might just cancel our plans to move to Papua New Guinea. Despite all our complicated emotions (most of them blind joy), we’ve put together a little military playlist for our erstwhile SecDef. Exercise your right to contribute.

  • “Bombs Over Baghdad,” OutKast
  • “Secretary Song,” Peggy Lee
  • “War Pigs,” Black Sabbath
  • “Worst Defense,” Archers of Loaf
  • “Kids With Guns,” Art Brut

Dylan’s “Masters of War” is obvious enough, but how about something a little more obscure (and no less potent) from the Dylan canon–”When the Ship Comes In”?
