Where Eminem Goes, Trouble Follows

11/2/06, 12:27 pm EST

You know how sometimes you go to shoot your new video and there’s a dead body on the set? According to Eminem cohort Akon, this is exactly what faced the rappers and their pack of Playboy bunnies at the “derelict Los Angeles hotel” where they were shooting the video for “Smack That” (the new single off Eminem’s forthcoming mix-tape The Re-Up). “Some weird stuff was happening that whole weekend,” Akon reportedly mused. “I think it was a haunted hotel or something. Man, that whole weekend was just dark, but the results were incredible. A dead body was found on the floor under us the next day. A real dead body. I was like, ‘wow!’ It was mad that we were right above that body just wiling out, just ’smackin’, that’s crazy!” Akon, that IS crazy.

I does seem as though rap is aging badly. It has already been around longer than I gave it. I’m trying to imagine thirty years from now a PBS fundraiser with a fat, bald, eminem doing his angry white boy rap. And do we want to see a 60+ 50 Cent intoning “I’m into having sex, I ain’t into making love?”

However, there are still some pockets of creativity in rap, so I don’t think it’s quite time to put on your grave-dancing shoes.

I think its funny when people say rap is dead cuz clearly in the past few years all types of music have changed EXCEPT for rap. look at all the new rock bands that are totally different like panic at the disco, n fallout boy. rock is totally changin, n rap is here to stay

tomatosauce, do you really think that’s a GOOD thing? Because if you do, you’re retarded. If you want creativity to remain static, keep listening to your fucking BET/MTV rap. Evolution is the essence of art.

RockGod | 11/3/2006, 8:09 am EST

Rap is dead. Chinese Democracy starts now.

Dan | 11/3/2006, 9:34 am EST

Never confuse ‘rap’ with music.

Mo Dee | 11/3/2006, 12:29 pm EST

Was the dead body that of Vanilla Ice? Is it forshadowing for E?

Jordan | 11/3/2006, 2:20 pm EST

Eminem is an idiot. Dead bodies? Meh, I’d be more shocked if I found out he had a black fan.

Wigger Patrol | 11/3/2006, 2:27 pm EST

Eminem is king of the wiggers.
