The Bahamas make strange bedfellows. Where else could Shakira and Roger Waters find cause to purchase an island together? The two musicians are reportedly heading up a group of buyers acquiring a $16 million island in the “north central” Bahamas. The investors plan to turn the island into a getaway for the stars, where homes with private beaches, condos and hotels will be constructed. It’s not for purely commercial gain, however: There will also be an artists’ retreat and a collection of little galleries, plus homes for both stars.
This is up there in our collection of Roger Waters-related blog items. Close to but not quite as amusing as when Alex Kapranos shared Waters’ toilet in Denmark.
