Van Halen Runnin’ With the Reunion?

10/26/06, 11:38 am EST

Quasi-credible Web portal MelodicRock.com is reporting that Van Halen — the original version, complete with David Lee Roth on the mike — will be reuniting for a full tour of the States and “other territories” in 2007. While we were not aware that America is a territory, we are psyched to see the original incarnation of VH in any spot on earth. Of course, who knows for sure if this rumor is true?

The site sources someone “highly placed” in the band’s camp, and the author of the post writes: “While nothing in the world of Van Halen is set until the band walk out on stage, I can confirm that negotiations between all parties have been underway for some time, trying to put together a big 2007 reunion tour.” The writer goes on to claim that he knows for a fact there will not be a new Van Halen record to accompany this tour, which implies that the band will be playing lots of old-school, classic material if this actually happens and is not just another fantasy cooked up by incredibly stoned Roth-loyalists during one of their weekly gatherings in which they read aloud from Crazy From the Heat.

TAZMANIAN DEVIL | 2/11/2008, 11:29 pm EST

I WAS ONLY IN 1ST GRADE WHEN I HAD THE ALBUM RUNNING WITH THE DEVIL.MY FAVORATE SONG WAS DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY,AND TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH THAT WAS THE ONLY SONG THAT I CARED ABOUT FROM THIER OLD DAYS. DINT REALLY CARE ABOUT THE OTHER STUFF TO MUCH UNTIL 1984 CAME OUT THEN I THOUT THEY GOT BETTER.BUT NOW I LOVE VAN HALEN TO DEATH THEY ROCK ESPECIALLY WHEN 5150 CAME OUT THAT WAS MY FAVERET ONE(LOVE WALKS IN)(DREAMS)I LOVE ROCK MUSIC BUT I LOVE SOFT ROCK MUSIC TOO. THEY ARE THE BEST NO MATTER WHO COMES OR GOES THEY ALLWAYS MANAGE TO MAKE KICK BUT MUSIC. THE ONLY THING I DINT LIKE ABOUT EDDY VAN HALEN WAS THAT HE WAS STUPID FOR LETTING VALERIE BERTINALLIE GET AWAY FROM HIM AFTER ALL THES LONG YEARS SHE IS STILL HOTTER THAN HELL. I MEAN WEIGHT GAIN OR NOT SHE IS STILL ONE OF MY FANTASY GIRLS, NEXT TO NANCY MC KEON,WYNONNA JUDD AND OF COURSE STEVIE NICKS. BUT ANYWAY VAN HALEN IS THE BEST SO ROCK ON MAN ROCK ON…. SALAZAR FR.SANTA FE NEW MEXICO.

i hope wolfgang got the balls to rock out like the rest of them…lol

they better kickass tommorrow night

anyway..peace love and rock n roll

Cobra427 | 2/14/2007, 10:16 pm EST

Ive waited 22 years for this to happen. Unfortunatly Micheal Anthony won’t be joining them. Why, I have no idea!
Roth quiting in 1985, was the second worst Rock n Roll disaster in history after #1’s McTaylor quiting the Rolling Stones.
Yes Roth has an asshole attitude and behavior, but he’s the best at what he does, singing and performing. He needs to keep his big mouth shut more often.
Eddie is the worlds Greatest guitarist by far, nobody even comes close.
Satriani and Vai are both riding in to Eddie’s wake. They are both great too!
Alex is an amazing drummer, one of the best in the world who is not credited enough in the music industry.
Micheal Anthony is a great bass player and backup vocalist, who like Alex is also underated.
They all need to pipe dopwn and get their act together!
I hope they put out a new album to support the tour!

VH with Roth a “pop” reunion? n*****,please.Go listen to the early VH, then Van Hagar.Only a dope would be unable to tell which is pop and which is rock.

DoctorX5150 | 2/14/2007, 8:10 pm EST

C’mon Dave….You now realize after 20 years that you are not shit without VH and VH isn’t shit without you. How long did ya have your last gig. What? 3 months?……AND WAS FIRED.again.

barsnake | 2/14/2007, 8:08 pm EST

Saw VH with both. Great shows, great showmanship all around, but DLR just had something special.Plus, the Van Hagar era was overproduced and repetitive. Hopefully Dave’s still got it.

Stevo (the big one) | 2/14/2007, 8:08 pm EST

1st things 1st= Eddy is an asshole,he drove Dave out, drove sammy out, wrote suck music drove Gary out, drove Michael out, who’s going to sing the HIGH back up Eddy not WOLF BOY, eddy van halen is no fuckin good,as a BAND MATE OR A PERSON just ask VAL shes hot, eddy in doing her right now, thanks STEVO

SammyFan | 2/14/2007, 7:00 pm EST

Sammy has more talent in his middle finger than Roth could ever hope for. And it’s the same finger I’m giving to Eddie and his pop reunion.

abobbit | 2/11/2007, 10:55 pm EST

I stopped buying VH after ou812, every song sounded the same. I have been waiting for DLR to come back since then. i will drop the cash in a heartbeat to see them back together!

jason m. | 2/2/2007, 3:07 pm EST

It is about time. Put your troubles behind you boys, and just rock it out. Hope Wolfgang is up for it. If not bring back ORIGINAL bassist Mark Stone from back in the day. Do your homework people if you don’t know who he is.

tom m | 1/30/2007, 7:59 pm EST

this tour needs to happen to show all these jackasses what real talent is . ive seen van halen 10 times since 1982, 4 nites in a row in houston texas in 1984.if this thing really happens im there.

Underthemilkyway | 1/28/2007, 10:53 pm EST

For all you bashers don’t go!!! Please!! This way I can get great seats!! :)

ali crue | 1/28/2007, 8:22 pm EST

van halen rocks!
i love DLR even tho he seems like an ass!
oh and even though eddie is older than my dad…
i’d still tap that!

babygirl | 1/27/2007, 4:47 pm EST

Eddie is an ass. He is also a great musician. If he could just suck it up and get over all the animosity. He seems to be the main reason things don’t work out. When he decides to grow up and get it together is what we’re all forced to wait for, if that ever happens. I’d love to see them all together 1 last time. I definitely think they could make it a huge deal. I’d spend the cash.

DOA | 1/26/2007, 7:42 pm EST

TWO WORDS FOR YOU MEDIAATYOURDOOR Neil Pert. i love alex but all time greatest?

DOA | 1/26/2007, 7:37 pm EST

matt | 1/26/2007, 11:53 am EST

It’s not about the fighting or the pissing contests within the band. This tour is about what VH is about. A great evening with friends getting fucked up and listening to the greatest American Rock and Roll band of all time.

1984 grad | 1/25/2007, 9:57 pm EST

I hope wolfie can pull it off but as i see it the band will be more van hallen than ever before with 3 family members in it LOL

DLR who! | 1/25/2007, 7:47 pm EST

Come on, DLR define VH. No way. He is an ASS.

J.J. | 1/25/2007, 7:44 pm EST

The fact that the VH bro’s were not going to ask Mad Mike to be apart of the 04 tour should let you idiots know that it had nothing to do with him touring with Sammy. GET A LIFE! VH is not VH without Anthony and the 07 tour will be a joke. Long live 5150

schmiggle | 1/24/2007, 10:01 pm EST

Jeesh…to all you young kids who posted on this forum…Learn some grammar! Do yoo no what eye meen?

MediaAtYourDoor@aol.com | 1/2/2007, 8:38 pm EST

Listen up Eddie, you were once referred to as a “Rock Guitar God”, Diamond Dave sir, there has never been any frontman in Rock-n-Roll as amazing as you and there never will be….Michael Anthony your voice “backing vocals” are a very essential part of what makes VanHalen VanHalen with DLR Alex some say there is no better Rock drummer anywhere…I agree…so here is my sugestion…….Forgive eachother your offences really forgive one another, get over it and then move on……assemble yourselves back together as you once were as a finely tuned Rock-n-Roll Godzilla and SHOW YOUR LOVE to us your fans…..

richard | 1/1/2007, 3:36 pm EST

theresalotofpeopleheretonite | 12/20/2006, 12:14 am EST

Richard, the Chris Cornell sighting with EVH recently has been confirmed. Most of you VH fans don’t know this but Chris Cornell was real close to replacing Sammy in 1996. His recent meetings with EVH are no doubt related to the 2007 tour (Plan B) if DLR does not work out.

The Michael Anthony falling out with EVH & AVH had to do with his post 2004 tour comments regarding EVH, and his touring with Sammy last summer as “The Other Half”.

As it stands now (recent credible source) Chris Cornell is a 50% frontman for the 2007 VH tour……….

diamondberle | 12/10/2006, 7:14 pm EST

Since I saw some latest DLR shows, I don’t want DLR back in Van Halen. Everybody would be disappointed, because of the high hopes and the rememberings of times long ago. And seeing the 2004 reunion with Sammy, I don’t want him back, the whole tour was bad (do you remember drunk Eddie fu**ing up every song?!?). The best for Van Halen would be a completly new singer - nothing else! Gary did a great job and on VH3 there were more great songs than on many other albums of VH. Even if Eddie fu**ed up the production while turning his guitar too loud…Greetings from germany.

albguy | 12/10/2006, 3:06 am EST

Tbone,Brian, idiots!,booboo, rub e..you all made me lol! I camped out overnight in a stadium parking lot in 1978 to see their 1st tour and they were by far the best of the bill, incl.Sabath, Haggar(!?), Boston, an unbilled Prince, everyone was downhill after they opened, but that was then–let’s remember it fondly and leave it.

GLK | 12/8/2006, 12:36 pm EST

Well, i’m sure whatever the sitution is, (for the love of music, money or the fans) it will most certainly be one hell of a show to see! Yeah sure, Eddie is an ass and Dave looks like some creepy puppet under the bed, but let’s stay positive and hope this whole reunion works out. I think Wolfgang would do a great job. It’s in his blood!

Anonymous | 12/6/2006, 6:58 pm EST

Fuck you Roo, who are you to talk for ALL AUSTRALIANS - fucking wanker. Van Halen were kicking ass in the 70’s too DICK. They defined HEAVY METAL, bands like Pantera and Metallica would never have existed without THE MIGHTY Van Halen. Van Halen were more punk than the Sex Pistols and are the greatest American bamd of all time if not the most underated band of all time.
Hey Roo, did I allready say you are a cock? No?
Your a cock.

That would be something to see if they can keep their egos out of it. Life is too short and one day - soon - it will be too late to reunite original members, just ask Alice Cooper. Hope it happens in our lifetime. If it does, I’ll snap pics just like the old days. All Hail VAN FUCKING HALEN!!!

Joseph J. Bodiducci | 11/21/2006, 8:41 pm EST

aayyyyy, my papa said eddy drinka 2 much beeer and davey can’t sing no more cause he smoke 2 much wackie tobaccie. they need 2 to forgat el la tour. not the same as the 70’s when they were fantastico!! i listen to my rare demos they maka 30 years ago that rocka! now they no good, papa said don’t watesta the moolah to see them playa. eata pizza pie instead!! magnifico!!!!

777 | 11/20/2006, 2:50 pm EST

I agree Bobby Rose. Now the mighty Van Halen has over 75 original demos from 1974-1977 that the band never released! I have the entire collection with most of it in great stereo quality. The band SHOULD take some of these rare demos on the road and use them to promote a new CD release! I take it most of you VH Dave fans never even heard of these rare demos huh? They are great!!!!

Bobby Rose | 11/19/2006, 9:38 am EST

I have no clue who this douchbag is below me…but i almost fell off of my couch laughing so hard when he brought up genesis (i keep thinking of collins on south park). i dont know about everyone else, but id rather go to a van halen concert and drink a ton of liquor, have some fun and see a legendary rock band than to go to a genesis (haha) concert with a TON of soccer moms screaming that the music is too loud. yea genesis is a talanted band….if you are 50 years old and have a phil collins collection. i think ill stick with the beer and babes and go to a van halen concert….good luck at that soccer mom convention that you call a genesis concert.

Jason | 11/17/2006, 2:29 am EST

I am sorry but, Van Halen will NOT be The Top Grossing Tour in 2007. That my friends will go to GENESIS. I am sorry to break this to everyone Dave in no way a better front man than Collins is. I have seen both in concert and let me tell ya. Dave couldn’t carry Mr. Collin’s jock strap let alone his drim sticks. Here are the facts Van Haen has only sold 75 million albums worldwide where as GENESIS has 150 million albums sold worldwide(mostly through the Collins era). Knowing that GENESIS is ONLY playing 40 dates Europe(20) and N. America(20) that the fan base for them is so large that all of their show will be in stadiums and not little ampitheaters across the U.S.. Because we all know what kind of shithead that Ed is. He’ll get pissed off at Dave half way through the tour and the rest of the shows will be cancelled. Plus we know who is doing it for the money and not for the fans. If Van Halen was doing this for the fans wouldn’t Mikey be in there and not wolfie(I know his name is in lower case because, I don’t consider him a member of the band Van Halen). Bossi, bossi, bop.

Ed&Alex, wie kent ze niet? | 11/15/2006, 7:27 am EST

Guys, will you come to Holland too? The news about the new tour FEELS SO GOOD!!!!

VanHalenVideo Man | 11/10/2006, 12:49 am EST

Hey, if u wanna hear the classic stuff, u gotta check out the unreleased material they did in 1976 with Gene Simmons 10 demos and then the 1977 Warner Brothers 25 demos! Now those 35 demos rock!!! Most of u out there never even heard of these songs before. If Eddie and Dave were smart, they would tour these songs and get WB and Simmons to release those songs! I got them all and alot of their really rare stuff from 1974 and 1975!!! Now your talking the MIGHTY VAN HALEN!!!!

ANDRE THE GIANT | 11/9/2006, 12:31 pm EST

OH COME ON, THERE WAS NO NEED TO DELETE MY COMMENT OF EDDIE THROWING THE PEN OF AN AUTOGRAPH SEEKER OVER A FENCE IT IS WHAT IT IS. OK MAYBE IF I CHANGE MY WORDING YOU WILL LEAVE MY COMMENT ALONE,BUT WHAT I SAID WAS “F UP THINGS THAT HAPPEN TO PEOPLE THAT DO SHITTY THINGS TO PEOPLE ESPECIALLY THIER LOYAL FANS, THATS ALL I WAS SAYING, BE CAREFUL IN CHOOSING THE PEOPLE THAT YOU CHOOSE TO WORSHIP.

money madness | 11/8/2006, 2:15 am EST

$50 million dollars split 4 ways=4 millionaires dancing to the bank. Eddie Van Halen may hate DLR, but that’s no excuse to pass up a fortune. A Van Halen reunion tour may break all tour record’s for revenue generated, Take it to the bank. The 2007 VH reunion will happen.

Gee Lopz | 11/7/2006, 2:44 pm EST

Eddie sucks…the history confirms…now, he kick the mike´s ass…Just like do it with Dave on the past…THE ORIGINAL VH IS DAVE, EDDIE, ALEX AND MICHAEL ANTHONY!!!!…no fucking wolfie!!!….this is not the real van halen!!!….evh is a liar and a bad friend…I love the classic Van Halen….but, today i hate eddie and alex…Please, Dave, don´t trust in this guys anymore…

Romeo Delight | 11/3/2006, 4:43 pm EST

I’ll believe it when I see it, but if they tour I’ll definitely see it!

5150 | 11/2/2006, 5:42 pm EST

Too bad Dave can’t sing anymore. Too bad Eddie drinks a freakin case of wine a day. I hope to god it’s not true because if Eddie walks out on stage and plays like he did on the 2004 tour then It would be a discrace to the name Van Halen. I have a DVD bootleg from last Nov. of Dave’s and he is horrid. VH should get that guy from the Atomic Punks. I think his name is Ralph. Dave needs to learn how to sing again and Ed needs a rehab stint before anyone should pay a dime for this tour. If Mike Anthony isn’t there then what’s the point. They should do an hour of Sammy then an hour of Dave then the 2 come out for a big finish. I’m Out!!

Jack Desmond | 10/30/2006, 12:38 pm EST

The minute that a pissed out of his mind EVH let loose on Howard Stern that he was “open to anything” regarding a Diamond Dave reunion, you knew some shmuck would start this rumor again. Guess what? It aint happening. Just like it didn’t happen the last dozen times someone started this idiocy.

Is it true that Van halens new drummer is rob zombie? what happened to alex, i read that he fell asleep behind the wheel and crashed into vince neil’s place and killed his dog. is there any truth to this?

fishbowl man | 10/29/2006, 3:05 pm EST

For God’s Sake Why?
Ever Since Edward Bought The Bottle
The Band has Never been The Same. He’s Out Of His Mind. I’m Tird Of All The Ego Trips and mudslinging, perhaps these guy’s recieved a call from GOD or Darth Vader. Edward Plays The Same O’l crap…finger tapping went out with hair spray and eye liner. only Elvis can re-package old material as new… what’s with the best of both worlds cd? like the greatest hits wasn’t enough?
these guys are sad, and to waste so many years fighting and only now because they need the money, shows us that they no longer play for the love of music, but for the love of money!
this should be a good show..lol!
too bad they won’t get a cent out of me.
Hey Guy’s if your reading this : go back to painting numbers on the curb!
This Is A Joke!

AeroFanBob | 10/29/2006, 2:51 pm EST

Amazing, many of you are posting comments as though a VH reunion w/DLR is a done deal. It’s just a rumour. And for that matter it could have been started by Diamond Dave himself. He does stuff like that, y’know. To DLR, it’s all about him. That’s why they busted up years ago.

top jimmy 1984 | 10/29/2006, 10:17 am EST

this will be the top grossing tour of 2007, this thing will go for 18 months, look for stadium shows mixed in. I just saw DLR at foxwoods, he can still bring it, pipes are strong, now if we can get the guitar player to show up semi sober and plug in, we will have a classic tour.

yupi | 10/29/2006, 2:52 am EST

Yeah, and Metallica is also over, and so is Motley Crue, ain’t they? If were talking about the 80’s… To anybody who doesn’t like the reunion, my advice is: Just don’t go to the shows. It’s not your problem at all, don’t even pay attention to it. You will only get annoyed. I’m glad they want to reunite, I like it and I’m not the only one!

Cort | 10/29/2006, 1:55 am EST

Yeah right!!!

Roo | 10/29/2006, 1:01 am EST

Stay away from Australia Van Halen. The 80s are over and so are you guys !

Van Halen rules! | 10/28/2006, 7:45 pm EST

Their music is a gift to the older AND the younger generation!!

Van Halen rules! | 10/28/2006, 7:39 pm EST

I want to see Van Halen on stage, I want to see them play here in Holland, I never knew their music so well, till I watched Live Without A Net, a friend of mine showed me the concert, I was overwhelmed, they played the best music I ever heared, I found out they KICK ASS!!!! Since then I collected their albums and concert videos, and I know for sure this guys are real professionals, THEY ARE TOP MUSICIANS, whatever people say about them. I’ve never seen them play real life, I want to see them play, I want to see them even if I have to loan money to buy me a ticket!! It would be the first time in my life! I’m a young guy, I appreciate their music, I became a real fan, I know they have a musical gift and it would be great if they would kick some ass again, especially here in Holland!!!! DEAR EDDIE, ALEX, MIKE AND DAVE, YOUR MUSIC IS GREAT, DO IT AGAIN!!!!

hosshoss777 | 10/28/2006, 6:12 pm EST

I loved those guys. They must haved rocked in the clubs to get discovered, then on the radio, and most important to me, the juke boxes, and then on to the arenas. Cmon back guys, You belong on stage. Not to diss Sammy, but there was just something about that original band.

TJ | 10/28/2006, 12:32 am EST

Light the torch!

AeroFanBob | 10/27/2006, 11:56 pm EST

Yeah, Mike27, DLR was good in the early days, he helped establish the greatness of VH. But there was loads of good stuff in the Sammy era too (Right Now, Best of Both Worlds, Black & Blue, etc.), and I’d take his solo stuff (I Can’t Drive 55, Where Eagles Fly)over over Dave and Las Vegas show tunes, it’s not even close.

Mike27 | 10/27/2006, 10:53 pm EST

Screw “Van Hagar”. All the good stuff was with Dave. Yea Sammy was a more “technical” singer, but so what?

Heres to the real VH reuniting, unlike the cover band that toured two years ago. By the way sammy, we didnt pay 90 dollars a ticket for you to do a solo set of your crappy songs in the middle of the concert.

AeroFanBob | 10/27/2006, 6:29 pm EST

I hope there’s no truth to this rumor. If it ever does happen, I’d go with Sammy, much better singer and the songs he co-wrote are more mature. Roth always made a point of excessive crotch grabbing (his own), and it looks really stupid for a older guy.

Jacob | 10/27/2006, 5:01 pm EST

Screw this. i want Pink Floyd with Roger Waters. One show isn’t enough. they need to tour BOYEEEE.

Steve | 10/27/2006, 1:24 pm EST

Poor timing. No one will go. They need to wait say 4 or 5 years for people to rediscover their music again. It wasn’t bad music after all, but no one is in the mood for it.

Rich | 10/27/2006, 12:57 pm EST

15 years too late. And they don’t have a quality music library like say The Who.

sam | 10/27/2006, 12:36 pm EST

i would love to see this happen, yea so their not in their prime. Who cares their still better than anyone out there now so lets see the 4 members back togeather.

Dan | 10/27/2006, 11:32 am EST

Wishful thinking. Mega-egos will prevail and this will go down the tubes just like it has every time. Roth and E. Van Halen are both egotistical assholes and will let it sink before bending to the other. Screw ‘em. I’m sick of hearing this shit. Just go away.

Lobsters | 10/27/2006, 11:12 am EST

I just dreamt David Lee Roth was hosting “Saturday Night Live” and told a story about me inventing a game called Herring Pool where I put a fish on a pool table and knocked it into the pockets. The Black Lady Cop on “Law And Order” came out and threw Dave off the air.

Ed Dubreuil | 10/27/2006, 9:06 am EST

Van Halen NEEDS to do this. One more go around with the Diamond One, retire, and go along their seperate ways to do solo stuff, or whatever. I would scoop up a solo CD from EVH in a heartbeat. The music he did for the Sacred Sin was pretty good.

Helvis | 10/27/2006, 7:26 am EST

rick in ca must have been pretty wasted at the US festival if he can’t “remeber” what year it was! I spent hours there backstage with Dave and Top Jimmy in 1983! I’m the one who shouldn’t “remeber” the year after all that bourbon and other stuff we imbibed, but I guess I wasn’t as wasted as rick in ca.

jUMP! | 10/27/2006, 2:13 am EST

Eddie, Snarky, David Lee Rothschild, and Gomer Pile! I can’t wait1 I’ve always hated, Van Hagar The Horiable. Whats nice is Eddie has created a cable tv network for his band. In the light of David’s Dave TV. Eddie & Band mates have created VH-1!

The_Phoenicianknight!!!! | 10/27/2006, 12:45 am EST

Dude, I’d be all over that tour!

But, we need some new Van Halen music! No more Greatest hits stuff. Yes, they were great hits, 20 freaking years ago. Don’t get me wrong, I stil listen to them, and my 10 year old knows all the words to the 1984 album, but I need some new Van Halen with Diamond Dave on Vocals!

My one regret in life is not going to the Van Halen Concert in 1984, thinking could catch them the following year…….

JOSHO | 10/27/2006, 12:33 am EST

IT IS LONG OVERDUE FOR THESE GUYS TO PUT THE PERSONAL ISSUES AND EGO ASIDE FOR A MOMENT IN TIME. THEIR MUSIC IS TIMELESS AND PEOPLE WANT TO HEAR AND SEE THE BAND AGAIN. I AM READY FOR “UNCHAINED” AND “JUMP”.
EDDIE VAN HALEN IS ONE OF THE GREATS WHEN IT COMES TO PICKING UP A GUITAR. THEY MUST HAVE DONE SOMETHING RIGHT IN THE DAY, FANS STILL LOVE THEM.
THANK YOU GENE SIMMONS FOR DISCOVERING THESE GUYS.
BY THE WAY, I STILL LOVE
SAMMY HAGAR AND HIS FAMOUS
CABO WABO TEQUILA.

Dan | 10/27/2006, 12:10 am EST

Tom,S.T.F.U,Dave looks fucking great and can still sing like crazy.

Bring on Van Halen 2007.

BTW…Roth On.

jesus h. christ | 10/26/2006, 10:47 pm EST

van halen is a waste of time - good guitar playing in service of shitty party music. it could’ve had depth, but doesn’t. and anyway, roth’s voice is totally shot. i’m sure none of this would stop them from selling out the tour. such fools high-school nostalgia breeds…

RICHARD LOSIER | 10/26/2006, 10:20 pm EST

CAN ANYONE CONFIRM THIS? I READ THAT CHRIS CORNELL OF AUDIOSLAVE WAS SEEN HAVING LUNCH WITH MR. VAN HALEN HIMSELF? COULD THIS BE THE DIRECTION THAT THE BAND MAY BE TAKEN, WHO ELSE THINKS THIS COULD WORK?

Salvatore Prianti | 10/26/2006, 10:14 pm EST

WHO KNOWS MAYBE GARY CHERONE WILL COME BACK, LOOK HOW GOOD THAT ALBUM DID?

Johnny B | 10/26/2006, 8:26 pm EST

I love all you guys making jokes about age and rock’n'roll. Rock doesn’t age, it just falls out of coconut trees! (thanks Keith) Eddie does seem a little burned out and Dave does as well (no more bluegrass please-you can barely sing to begin with). I would go see these guys again as I think they still have talent (well at least Eddie and Al). It wouldn’t bother me at all if they left Michael Anthony at home with Sammy Hate-gar. Let Wolfie play the bass, since he can probably play rings around Anthony(not too hard to do). To all of you that don’t want to see these guys because they’re too old(don’t tell the Stones that), Justin Timberlake is touring!

johnnyrockett | 10/26/2006, 6:56 pm EST

kiss came back from the joke bin…
van halen has got to make their crapload of money for their retirement.does warner bros still pay them for the thousands of million cds they’ve sold…god bless ‘em :)

JLI | 10/26/2006, 6:05 pm EST

I like “Idea’s” comment about Benny Hinn joining Van Halen. His hair might be a tad bit better than Roth’s. Hinn usually knocks them out. He has people laying out all over the stage. Just picture all those people wearing old Van Halen T-Shirts. That would be a site to see. Also, I would pay a lot to see Hinn sing “Runnin With The Devil”.

rick in ca | 10/26/2006, 5:50 pm EST

well he we go again … we just cant seem to leave dead dogs alone. I would definitely go to the concert, hopefully DLR will remeber the words this time (US Festival 82) he, like all of us, was pretty wasted. If they do reunite it would be a treat.

Anonymous | 10/26/2006, 5:00 pm EST

OMG! This would be awesome if it were true… Diamond David Lee Roth?! I mean hasn’t he been doing blue grass or something? Thank goodness he’s back to his roots with Van Halen!

Vintage | 10/26/2006, 4:47 pm EST

Been there, done that…NEXT!

Andy | 10/26/2006, 4:37 pm EST

Im shocked Jordan Weaver has not commented on this yet! Diamond Dave with VH would be great to see.

Anonymous | 10/26/2006, 4:30 pm EST

lol yea two of my favorite bands gnr looks like there finally releasing chinese democracy and van halen are finally reunting

Kliffee | 10/26/2006, 3:59 pm EST

Just cuz they are old, doesn’t mean they can’t rock. Don’t diss history, man!

Sammy | 10/26/2006, 3:59 pm EST

Wake me up when it’s over.

Hugh Jakauck | 10/26/2006, 3:58 pm EST

This is risiculous!
I also heard that The Hooters are re-uniting and will be opening o this tour!
That won’t suck…will it?

Salvatore Prianti | 10/26/2006, 3:53 pm EST

I CANT EVEN IMAGINE VAN HALEN TOURING? BUT IF THIS DOES HAPPEN I WOULD LOVE TO SEE IT! ALTHOUGH EDDIE SHOULD GET HIS HEAD OUT OF HIS ASS AND START REMEMBERING THAT IT WAS AN ACCUMILATION OF TALENT THAT MADE THIS ONCE GREAT BAND SHREAD THE FACE OF THE PLANET! AND NOT JUST HIM, SEEMS TO ME THAT BANDS LIKE AC/DC ALREADY GOT THAT FIGURED OUT LONG AGO, GODD LUCK GUYS LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING FROM YOU!

Kliffee | 10/26/2006, 3:52 pm EST

Compared to the shite these pseudo rock bands play these days on MTV at 7am and 2am, I’ll take Van Handicapped anyday.

michael | 10/26/2006, 3:43 pm EST

come on rolling stone, if you’re gonna report a rumor from another site, at least report it accurately.
melodicrock.com didn’t say anything about a reunion of the original lineup. it said negotiations were ongoing, and there was no information yet as to whether michael anthony would be involved. if he’s not involved, it wouldn’t be the original lineup, would it?

Steven Millan | 10/26/2006, 3:38 pm EST

I surely hope that this reunion tour become a reality for next year, since both Eddie Van Halen and David Lee Roth are really hurting for this reunion to happen, and it’ll be interesting to see how Wolfgang Van Halen does as bassist on this tour(despite still being in his teen years). And,maybe they can release that shelved VH/DLR album(that Michael Anthony says that they were working on way back in 2000)as the new album(with Dave)to accompany with the tour.

boo boo | 10/26/2006, 3:30 pm EST

“seriously” does anybody give a shit!!!

STRATCAT | 10/26/2006, 3:25 pm EST

Roth will come out with his new hair club for men doo and Eddie will play eruption on the banjo then Michael take a dump in his pants as he screams for a fresh pair of depends and Alex will leave the band and start his own scented douche company which will make record sales.
ROCK ON YOU SAVAGE BEASTS!
Seriously though VH can still bring the rock even if they look like a pile of poop!
Cheers!
Stratcat

ken vail | 10/26/2006, 2:53 pm EST

i think it will be fun…i just hope they at least put out a new lp-not another compilation cd!!!

flynner | 10/26/2006, 2:49 pm EST

Once in a while it is nice to remember but if we are refer, sorry referring to Van Halen of the 80s i am going to need some video!!! i thought there was a curly wanna be rock and roller leading the band.who can not drive 55 but couldnt jump either!! leave sleeping dogs alone… missed by 10 years….

BOB-O | 10/26/2006, 2:49 pm EST

prevent old people from playing live please

Idiots! | 10/26/2006, 2:19 pm EST

Guns n’ Roses is “finally” releasing a new album and the original Van Halen are “finally” reuniting to tour. I’m about as excited about this news as I am about the news from the doctor that I need to get a barium enema tomorrow.

Rudy Pilfer | 10/26/2006, 2:04 pm EST

Jungleland, I was at that 1983 VH Show in Atlanta - I was 10.

And no, my mom is not cooler than yours. Folks are divorced and my Dad took me.

Just wish I remembered the show a little better…..

Mudville | 10/26/2006, 1:53 pm EST

Eddie should have joined Living Colour 15 yrs ago with Vernon Reid. How about that twin guitar attack. Who cares about Van Halen. I’m holding out for the Replacements.

John | 10/26/2006, 1:53 pm EST

Yes,Dave and Eddie are toast,Michael Anthony is a goob and Alex Van Halen-well I think Al’s OK actually. With all that,I still think they can pull off a great show. And if there’s drama-that wouldn’t be all that bad. And if Wolfie can play bass-well that’s a step above Mr. Anthony. See you at the show…

Jamie's Still Crying | 10/26/2006, 1:24 pm EST

Will Michael Anthony bust out a Geritol bottle-shaped bass, just like his old Jack Daniels one?

Idea | 10/26/2006, 1:20 pm EST

They Should get Benny Hinn to front the BAnd and him and Eddie can cure Cancer wherever they go.

The Oz | 10/26/2006, 1:11 pm EST

Eddie has no tounge. Roth has no brain. Michael Anthony has no job. Alex Van Halen has no liver. It all sounds like a sick twist of “The Wizard of Oz”. More like, “The Wizard of Wrong”

Jeff Spicoli | 10/26/2006, 1:09 pm EST

If in fact they go on tour…Eddie will attempt to strangle DLR by the 4th show. There could be more drama on this tour than GNR’s 1992 go-around.

tbone | 10/26/2006, 1:01 pm EST

All these reunion tours do is remind you how old you are. Stop them at once.

It’s like a viewing at a funeral of someone you haven’t seen in a long time - much better to remember them as the vital, healthy person you last saw years ago.

tbone | 10/26/2006, 12:59 pm EST

Reunion tours of this nature suck because all they do is remind you how old you are.

It’s like a viewing at a funeral for someone you haven’t seen in a long time - you’re much better off remembering her as the vibrant, healthy person you knew years ago.

jungleland | 10/26/2006, 12:44 pm EST

I care, but I’m not sure why (but then I just shelled out $75 to see Def Leppard) I guess I still feel gyped that my mom would not let me see the original VH in 1983 when they played Atlanta (ok I was 12). Maybe I should take mom to the show (she is more their age than I am)

rockstar70 | 10/26/2006, 12:40 pm EST

Eddie is off his rocker now!!
He and Dave should finally see
eye to eye. I agree that this
would be good news when it should
have happened 10 years ago. Now
all we are going to get is a feak
show with one of the freaks sons
playing bass because mr Van Halen
has forgotten what and who got him
where he is today. WAKE UP and smell the Marlboros Eddie!!

Tom | 10/26/2006, 12:31 pm EST

This is exciting 10 years ago. Now Diamond Dave is so far out of it. Looks like crap. And if I said that about Eddie that would be doing him a compliment compared to what he really looks like now. Words can’t describe that. Well maybe one. Dead. Let the myth of VH (Or whats left of it) carry on and let people always wonder what could have been had Dave and the rest not split back in ‘85. And you know that Eddie and Dave hate each other (and judging from the backstabbing comments Eddie made recently about Micheal, there probably not too chappy either) so you know this is absolutely about the money and nothing else. There isn’t any passion left there. The greatest American R n R band of the 1980’s is now a sad image of itself. Don’t degrade it more by touring.

Brian | 10/26/2006, 12:28 pm EST

I keep nodding off … what’s this about again?

DG | 10/26/2006, 12:25 pm EST

So if they did put out an album you think that would preclude them from “playing lots of old-school, classic material”?

You haven’t been to too many “reunion” type tours, have you??

nurserock1 | 10/26/2006, 12:16 pm EST

Yawn is right…
This news was due in about 1996…oh wait…we did get this news in 1996….when they should have shown us how it was done they fucked the fans instead.

rube | 10/26/2006, 11:57 am EST

… yawn …
