As members of the so-called Generation Y, we felt a certain triumphant glee in reading that Kurt Cobain has surpassed Elvis Presley as the top-grossing dead rock star. Not that we don’t worship the King (after all, he’s the King for God’s sake), but it’s cool to think that the dude who sang “I’m so horny/But that’s okay/My will is good” still speaks to the masses. To mark this cultural shift, we’re gonna go ahead and put together a little list like we do. Ladies and gentleman, we give you the “Kurt Makes More Money Than Elvis” playlist. Please contribute as you see fit.
- “It’s Good To Be King,” Tom Petty
- “Milk It,” Nirvana
- “Keep On Rockin’,” Shonen Knife
- “Pennies From Heaven,” Bing Crosby
- “King Is Dead,” Nazareth
