One Version of Genesis Reuniting, Michael Jackson (Truly) At Work on New Material, Slick Rick Unwillingly Heading Overseas?

  • The government is out to deport Slick Rick again. Seems after you’re convicted of a felony (Rick’s was attempted murder back in 1991) you don’t really get to live here anymore. But Rick’s got the bulk of the hip-hop community and its fancy lawyers on his team, so he’s got a good shot in court.
  • Yoko Ono is suing EMI and its subsidiary, Capitol Records, for $10 million in royalties she claims the company has mismanaged, failed to report, and generally withheld from her. The label has no shot
  • Fabolous and his buddies have each been charged with multiple counts of criminal possession of a weapon, stemming from the shooting incident a few days ago. Fabolous is also a suspect in the robbery of a $50,000 necklace taken that same night from Boston Celtics guard Sebastian Telfair who was also at Diddy’s club. It all goes back to Diddy’s club. Go buy Press Play y’all.
  • Coldplay buy a big old clubhouse/recording studio in Hampstead, London. Guess this means they are going to start recording again soon.
  • Genesis officially, for real reuniting without Peter Gabriel. This could cause serious strife within an already divided Gabriel vs. Collins Genesis fanbase.
  • Michael Jackson and Will.i.Am are reportedly hanging out in Ireland, working on new MJ tracks.
  • Christina Aguilera = increasingly admirable in our eyes. She tells Jane that she wouldn’t want to exploit her marriage on a reality TV show. We mourn the loss of great Christina-mocking material, but we respect her choice.

Michael Jackson shouldn’t do new material. Here’s an idea: he should edit the new version of himself into all his old videos. That way, it’s like he’s always been this terrific freak he is now, and we can all forget the formerly great artist that is nowhere to be seen.

“Go buy Press Play y’all”

um….why? (don’t i just crap in a cd case instead-same thing!)

BIT

Is that short for BITchy?

MJ was a great artist in his heyday and as with all great artists has struggled to sell in his latter years. That does not mean he doesn’t have the ability to create great music. Personally I will be very interested to hear his new stuff.

My favourite MJ album is the often overlooked album HIStory – great HIP HOP beats and appearance from BIG.

BIT(chy) | 10/19/2006, 11:17 am EST

I guess it is. I own every single one of MJs albums. I’ll buy the new one, too. But, his weirdness is undeniable.

I personally don’t think Michael Jackson has to release any more good music, since for a time, about 10/15 years or so, he relased some great tunes. As per genesis, land of confusion live can’t be bad.

The King Of Pop is a natural maestro when it comes to crafting the best masterpieces. It’s great to see what remarkable material will jump off!

charliemapleton | 10/19/2006, 12:17 pm EST

And in other matters, when Judgement Day comes, don’t you hope that he’ll transform back to his all natural Black appearance, like he was during the supposed “Off The Wall” era-PERMANENTLY(not to sound like a stylist, but rockin’ an Eric Benet ‘fro would look tight too)?

Michael Jackson? Gun ‘N’ Roses both released groundbreaking albums in their time but as is the case with every inspired artist turned mega-successful: they fall. Success (especially on the scale the two aforementioned have recieved) can be corrupting and inhibit the artist from creating magik again. Artists have a certain window (usually) where the chemistry is perfect and the result is Appetite for Destruction or Thriller.

However that window has closed on these two. Both have offered nothing but mediocrity, banality and eccentric behaviour over the past 15 years. Their current attempts at resurrecting their deteriorated careers is laughable and depressing.

Peace Love Death Metal

Miss Michael Jackson likes 12 year old tube steak filled with white sauce.

parguayan_boy | 10/19/2006, 1:04 pm EST

Genesis had some good songs. Mike Rutherford is underrated as a creative guitarist. Collins has a great set of pipes, but his lyrics are usually trite. Tony Banks is a great keyboardist. Best of luck to them.

Can Michael Jackson overcome being a middle-aged man with a ruined face and a thing for boys? Sadly, I think today’s music fans can deal with that last problem more easily than the first two.

Genesis Reunion without Steve Hackett ???Ever since he left the band in 78,GENESIS lost their musical edge…I could live with the absence of Pete Gabriel but SH has to be there….

You know what would be awesome? forcing Prince and MJ to make an album together Outkast style and see who makes the better record w/ the prize at stake: the crown for king of pop..

JJJ567 | 10/19/2006, 10:24 pm EST

I know Jackson has the talent to make another great album if he got himself together. Invincible had some really strong points but not enough. I’d still be interested in hearing the album when it’s done though.

Get A Grip | 10/20/2006, 1:22 am EST

It’s funny how Michael accused Tommy Mottola of being a racist, when he married MC, a women mixed of three races, and his current wife is of hispanic decent, he’s of Itallian decent. Michael is NUTS! Let him think he’ll make a “come back” but he needs to “come back” to planet Earth first. He’s no Steven Tyler, or maby he is, Steven dated a 15 yr. old… so they have alot in common except Steven likes girls. As music goes… Jacko totally sucks! Also Fergie, will-u-r sucks too! I hate the Black-eyed-pea-brains!… AND MICHAEL!

Cherubim | 10/20/2006, 1:42 am EST

Thank you, Mr. Michael Jackson, for all the wonderful music you have shared with us over the years.
Please, release your new music as soon as possible. You are a musical genius, and the world needs your musical gifts now more than ever.

Smooth Criminal | 10/20/2006, 9:40 am EST

Jackson is a freak. But I believe he has something left for us, to much talent not too!

Brace yourself the king is about to return to earth we hope.

Christine | 10/21/2006, 3:33 am EST

I am an MJ fan, so I must say I am looking forward to hearing what he does next. All the crap about him and his life aside, the mans got talent that NOBODY can deny.

Storm | 10/21/2006, 11:41 am EST

M.J is the best. If you freak show comentary fools worry about your own life, maybe he can breath. The 1st thing that makes a person normal is their ability to breath air with out a camera up your rear end all the time. Amercan’s are so petty. He is no longer in this ridiculous county any more and yall still wont leave him alone. Get off his nuts and grow some of your own! MJ Rules.

igp | 10/27/2006, 11:07 am EST

Its about the music and I think MJ has much more to give. I wouldnt be sorprised if he realeses a megahit new cd.
