Playlist of the Day: Of Course Earthquakes Are Mellow in Hawaii

10/17/06, 8:03 am EST

Hawaii earthquakeRollingStone.com’s politics blogger, Tim Dickinson, was on his Hawaiin honeymoon when the 6.7 magnitude tremblor struck the chain of islands. “It was a roly-poly Jello ride of an affair, rather than the herky-jerk, knock the vases off the shelf kind of seismic event,” he wrote yesterday.

Well, isn’t that nice. Natural disasters in paradise shimmy like gelatin dessert. Help exorcise our mild jealousy by adding to a playlist of doom and destruction.

“(Shake Shake Shake) Shake Your Booty” — K.C. and the Sunshine Band
“Appetite for Destruction” — Guns ‘N Roses
“Fleeing the Valley of Whirling Knives” — Lightning Bolt
“Richter Scale Madness” — . . . And You Shall Know Us By the Trail of Dead
