pete townshendOkay people, it’s that time again. A new issue of Rolling Stone is out this week (everywhere on Friday, NYC and LA tomorrow) and in it you’re gonna find the following choice bits of info nestled inside glorious Rolling Stone-staff-penned text:

  • In Jenny Eliscu’s super-awesome feature story (excerpted here) Pete Townshend explains why the six-year-old rumor of a new Who record is finally coming true. (Check back later this week for our exclusive Townshend podcast.)
  • John Legend tells Austin Scaggs that smoking pot totally doesn’t make him horny, not even a little bit, gushes about how intimidating he finds Jeff Buckley, and talks about the song he wrote back in high school for his prom date. Awww.
  • David Fricke explores the glory that is My Chemical Romance’s new record, The Black Parade, which Fricke calls “the best mid-Seventies record of 2006.”

My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, and Panic at the Disco are all bands that appeal only to teenage girls. Exactly the demographic that Rolling Stone now panders to.

to be fair, not just teenage girls. but all dipshit teenagers who are too boring and scared to listen to anything that they aren’t told is cool. for chrissakes. if we don’t stop paying attention to theses horses asses they’re never gonna go away.

Whatever. It’s trendy to hate things that are trendy. Most of these bands aren’t half bad, but they become easy targets for too cool hipsters.

Sou brasileira, e uma apaixonada por rock’n roll…
inclusive por the who…banda maravilhosa, sem palavras…!!!

And who exactly do you guys listen, some really cool undiscovered band local to your home. Didnt think so.

Aaron D. | 10/17/2006, 3:50 pm EST

I just like what I like, regardless of the opinions of 12 year old girls or cooler-than-thou hipsters. I’m not sure which is worse, listening to an artist because you find them attractive, or listening to another because there are only 2 other people on Earth who have heard of them.
