Playlist of the Day: America, Is There Still Room to Rock?

10/16/06, 8:21 am EST

We look out our Manhattan windows and think, “That’s a lotta frickin’ people.” And as per usual, we are absolutely correct, because the U.S. population is set to top 300 million any second now. We can rock that science thanks to the official Census site, which is keeping track of it for us. Bracing ourselves for crowded sidewalks, food shortages and long lines, we realize the only way to feel better is with songs that soothe/ridicule our overcrowded pain. We’ll breath easier if you contribute, so get to it.

  • “Don’t Dream It’s Over,” Crowded House
  • “Hot in Here,” Nelly
  • “Claustrophobia,” The Bee Gees
  • “Too Many People,” Pet Shop Boys
  • “Save the Population,” Red Hot Chili Peppers
