Weekend Rock List: Iconic Items We’d Pay to Own

10/13/06, 4:48 pm EST

ScarlettToday we learned that the articles of clothing worn by Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger in Brokeback Mountain are being auctioned off. After imagining the bidding war that’ll likely take place around Jack’s denim shirt we started thinking about other iconic items — objects, pieces of clothing, shoes — worn by celebrities in film or onstage. You know, stuff that we’d like to own . . . or could imagine someone else coveting. In other words, we’re not saying we actually desire to possess Scarlett Johansson’s panties. We just know there are those who would, people who are totally not us. So we came up with this list, complete with the prices we’d be willing to pay were we being bankrolled by Madonna or Oprah. What would you add? What would you pay for it?

  • Marilyn Manson’s boobs from the “Dope Show” video: 5 installments of $1,999.99
  • The bathrobe worn by The Dude in The Big Lebowski: $600,000
  • Max’s medals from Rushmore: $1 each
  • Karen O’s red lipstick: $18.50
  • Gwen Stefani’s bindi: $101

What about Arlo Guthrie’s Red VW Microbus? Say, when you are all going to get off you’re shallow asses and open your arms and your pages to the only true folksinger left. You need to do a piece on this on this underrated folksinger before he leaves us for good, but hopefully you’ll make the population aware of Arlo, so that he can leave knowing his music is listened to on a day besides thanksgiving.
