Pete Doherty, unbeknown to himself, is a terrific entertainer. Hysterically, he thinks this is because of his music, which is actually so terrible it doesn’t bare thinking about. In actual fact, the continuing carnival that represents his life is like a good sit-com. I love him and Kate Moss – they are too stupid to know how dumb they are, which is just marvellous.

And given that he’s not a poet (because you don’t become a poet just because you won a prize when you’re 16yo), then the cold hard facts suggest that he’s nothing but a tabloid hungry, crack smoking junkie. Pete’s not a bad musician, just not a very interesting one. Neither The Libertines nor Babyshambles do much for me, neither do they push music forward. It’s just same old, same old, been there, done that. As a celebrity junkie dating a celebrity junkie model he’s much more interesting to talk about than listen too. Go Pete! Hopefully their relationship will end in a murder/suicide so we have that much more shallow crap to talk about. Embrace life.
