Fascinating Randy Newman fact: In 1978, legislators in Maryland banned the song “Short People” from the radio. We digress. The brilliant lyricist and national treasure opened up his songbook for an adoring crowd at New York’s Carnegie Hall last night. Our David Fricke was there, and he took notes. I didn’t know that. Short People? i used to know a school guy in the 60s Malcom Short. And they banned his song? Wow. Randy Newman has a good voice. I’ve seen him on TV. Wasn’t he a friend of John Lennon’s or something? Around when JL was doing Bhagawan Soaham, type of stage appearances? Don’t buy this book!!!
