PJ Harvey

  • PJ Harvey is reportedly heading back into the studio to record her follow-up to 2004’s Uh Huh Her. This elates us in indescribable ways. [via NME]
  • Phil Spector’s team of lawyers managed to wrangle another delay in their client’s murder trial, which has been postponed three times now. The trial was set to begin in January and will now start in March.
  • Jay-Z’s upcoming concert in Shanghai has reportedly been cancelled due to the vulgar language contained in many of the rapper’s lyrics.
  • Pete Doherty’s rehab buddy (and Darkness frontman) Justin Hawkins has quit his band after being released from the Priory clinic in London. He claims he’s spent £150,000 on coke in the last three years, and says he feels lucky to still have a septum.
  • CNN’s Indie Cred quiz kind of pissed us off, like we’re being not-so-skillfully mocked or something. If you enjoy being irked, try it out. [via Stereogum]
  • Rough Trade is going digital. We know we’ll buy their stuff online, but we imagine we’ll feel weirded out while doing it.
  • Vincent Chase is pursuing the Joey Ramone role in a fictional biopic on Entourage, but now it seems the real thing will come to pass with the lead role as-of-yet undecided. Who should play Joey Ramone?

I will bet that jack D owns a Nickelback CD. Anyone who says PJ blows should have his ears removed on general principle alone.

Phil Spector murdered someone?! How come I didn’t know about this!?

Beelay | 10/11/2006, 5:11 pm EST

Why would Rolling Stone be pissed over CNN’s Indie Cred quiz? Sure, it’s bullshit, but so is the Stone!
Both are huge entities, and it’s not like Rolling Stone is an indie publication or anything. Maybe they’re just pissed because ANOTHER corporate entity is piggybacking on indie rock?

Jack D blows so hard it’s like he’s been taking guitar lessons from Justin Hawkins in Priory

now i understand why Rob Sheffield was so surprised both Green Day and The Strokes have lasted as long as they have.

If you observe this business long enough you see how it is to fall in the cracks.

I feel like listening to Permission to land and crying…

or any given Whitesnake album

CNN must have held an interoffice competition for the best “indie rock” quiz and Lou Dobbs won.

Jack D | 10/12/2006, 5:04 pm EST

PJ Harvey blows and sucks.

SATAN | 10/13/2006, 12:16 pm EST

PJ HARVEY OPENED FOR U2 IN SAN DIEGO IN 2001 AND PROMPTLY STUNK UP THE JOINT. SHE SOUNDED LIKE A HELL’S CHORUS OF DYING CATS.

Andrew | 10/13/2006, 1:20 pm EST

Jack D forgot to tell us that the “D” is his middle initial and his last name is Bag.

If you guys had listened to any Darkness song other than “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” you’d know Justin Hawkins, and the other members, are all excellent musicians. The Darkness are the first real rock in at least 10 years, and it pisses me off to no end that everyone in America is so ignorant to that fact.

Everyone else in the world loves The Darkness! So get educated before you talk shit about them!
