Mike Skinner Is Not Perfect (and Dreams About Wilma Flintstone, Carl Jung)

Mike Skinner

Mike Skinner is dissatisfied with himself. He feels his delivery of the chorus on “Dreams,” the new B-side to the Streets single “Prangin’ Out,” is imprecise and has requested that all the singles be recalled. His manager explained that wouldn’t be happening. So, after dreaming about teaching rap lessons with Carl Jung (seriously) Skinner went to his trusty blog to rectify the situation by transcribing the lyrics, as he meant them to be heard.

Check out the entire post after the jump. But in the meantime, how is “Dreams”? While we’re really into “Prangin’ Out” (though not so much the Pete Doherty version), we kind of see what Skinner means re: “Dreams.” It’s not so . . . catchy is the word we’re looking for?

What do you think of the track?

I just listened back to my B-side on my last single and came to the conclusion that I wasn’t clear in my delivery of the words in the chorus so I phoned my manager and told him I wanted to recall all the singles, remove the download from iTunes and ask if all 38 million people with it in their Limewire directory could delete the file and await the new remastered version with clearer words. To this he just laughed which made me angry so I went to bed . . . While I was asleep I dreamt that I met Carl Jung and he was giving me a classroom lesson about rapping (also in the room was Claire Rayner, Alan Titchmarsh and Wilma Flintstone who was chatting the ragga which really annoyed me) . . . So anyway when I woke up, the answer was etched on my mind — write out the words to the chorus on my award winning blog so everyone can understand. Here they are..

–DREAMS—

My dreams teach me which dreams I need seek,
Reveal the deceits I speak but keep believing,
But dreams, speak in speech meaning squeak to me,
Which is the reason I’m weak to see what I need.

Not sure about the last line. Think I might change it . . .
