Panic! At the Disco Go All “Vegas-y Circus” for New Tour

10/3/06, 11:40 am EST

Panic! At the DiscoIf it means they’ll quit introducing their “Karma Police” cover by saying “this is a song by a band called Radiohead” we’d support pretty much anything Panic! At the Disco decide to do onstage, even if it meant adding even more burlesque girls draping themselves over the piano while Brendon Urie plays. Okay not that. But anything but that and the Radiohead cover, even people painted as lions dancing in cages would be fine. And that’s exactly what we’ll be getting on the band’s upcoming tour. It seems Panic! has to amp up the theatrics for the arena shows, as they simply don’t have enough material to fill the 90-minute sets they’re expected to play.

Guitarist Ryan Ross (aka the one who talks) explains: “We’re going to build a house of mirrors, with ramps for us to come down. And in the front of the stage, underneath our keyboard and cello players, we’re going to have animal cages, and we’re going to put dancers painted to look like lions in there. I’m talking about full-body paint, with teeth and a tail.” Oh, and they’re planning to add “Bohemian Rhapsody” to the list of covers they play. “We’ve been working on it . . . the idea of it kind of blows my mind,” Ross says. “I mean, it would be all of us, plus our touring keyboard player, singing the harmonies. That seems like it would be a lot of fun.”

Worst band ever.

Jess B. | 10/3/2006, 3:16 pm EST

… And this is the band that was so upset that the focus on their image was hurting their reputation? I dunno’, maybe if they focused on their music more than their stage show, people might be more willing to take them seriously.

Oh, no, wait. They lack the talent and originality to prevent the total suckage of their music. Never mind.

And 90 minutes? Come on. I’ve seen Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds play acoustic guitar for THREE AND A HALF HOURS straight. No gimmicks. Now, that’s talent.

Sanchez | 10/3/2006, 3:19 pm EST

Circus Clowns.

Should be the promo shot for that freak show Carnivale.

You are Right, Comic Book Guy

Scream | 10/3/2006, 4:55 pm EST

The biggest offense there is that the worst band in creation is planning to do Bohemian Rhapsody. Itll be musical murder.

whooo | 10/3/2006, 5:00 pm EST

whoo!! i cant wait!! and to all those haters. haha you’re funny. why dont you try going to on of their concerts. the best concert ive been to!

EzzAAAA | 10/3/2006, 5:18 pm EST

ok, the bands music is great, the lok is great, there origional, dut i too think that they shouldent keep having the “circus” acting people up on stage, its old, and getting more.. no, that will make the band look as though there trying to hard, but thats no reason to call them the worst band ever. still its your opinion..

Samzle | 10/3/2006, 6:42 pm EST

Well, I for one disagree w/ ALL of the haters! Panic! is one of the best bands out there, and these shows are gonna be amazing! And if you have a problem w/ it, then why are you even commenting?

Vans is fallinuphill | 10/3/2006, 7:03 pm EST

haters……

Ellie | 10/3/2006, 7:13 pm EST

best band ever!!!!

Livvy | 10/3/2006, 7:13 pm EST

this band is the greatest band on this planet. you are all haters. you’re just jealous.

Panic Sucks | 10/3/2006, 7:31 pm EST

The band opening for them, Bloc Party, is way better.

Hater | 10/4/2006, 4:35 am EST

I’ve seen them twice now. once opening for Motion City Soundtrack and Fall Out Boy they were worse the second time honestly.

Their original Bassist was their only interesting part. I only went to see them so i could see THE DRESDEN DOLLS, and my friend convinced me to stay for Panic…who were the worst headliner I have ever seen, bar none.

Bloc Party is so good though, I might end up seeing them again, ugh.

Panic! At The Disco, a new fad of Generation Y self-pity boys are planning to cover “BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY”! One of the greatest and most elaborate songs of all-time that can never be reproduced is being covered by (pause for a quick breath)PANIC!AT THE “FRIGGIN” DISCO!!! Now legions of tight pant teens will be annoucing this song as their favorite because of four weenies in frilly shirts. Now is a time to drop a A-Bomb on me.
QUEEN + P!ATD= BIG MISTAKE!

Bill | 10/4/2006, 8:45 am EST

Not that I hate Emo/Scene, I just wish they would stay away from something that is much, much bigger than them! (i.e BO-RAP!)

Byron | 10/4/2006, 8:51 am EST

Yah, Panic! at the Disco rocks!
Their “Bohemian Rhapsody” is going to be better then Queen.

panic!fan! | 10/4/2006, 10:22 am EST

Jo | 10/4/2006, 10:41 am EST

Panic! absolutely fucking rock! They are so talented n i can’t wait for them to do a proper tour in England so i can go see em cuz they’re great

The Vintage Idiot | 10/4/2006, 11:29 am EST

The only question I have is why? God bless Freddie Mercury, I almost broke my computer reading this. My favorite band of all time, why do you have to desecrate the most sacred song ever recorded? Now we’re gonna have 12 & 13 year old kids running around talkin about how PATD cover is so much better than the ORIGINAL???? What in the name of God is the world coming to; PATD couldn’t lace up Queen’s bootstraps. YOU ARE OUT OF YOUR LEAGUE!- oh and to check all of those who may call me a “hater”, I happen to have A fever you can’t sweat out.bastards

The Vintage Idiot | 10/4/2006, 11:33 am EST

The only question I have to ask is why? God bless Freddie Mercury I almost broke my computer reading that. Why desecrate my favorite band ever, and my favorite band? I am now on the war path. Now we’re gonna have 13 year old kids talking about PATD cover is soo much better than the original???? What is the world coming to, PATD couldn’t wash Queen’s lucky underwear. YOU ARE OUT OF YOUR LEAGUE, PLEASE STOP!!!
And by the way, for all those who may call me a “hater”, I have a fever you can’t sweat out and am in the process of burning it at this very second.

Jenet | 10/4/2006, 12:31 pm EST

To paraphrase Lewis Black…

Anyone who thinks that the Panic! at the Disco cover of “Bohemian Rhapsody” is better than the Queen original should have to wear a tinfoil helmet. So we know who you are.

Greg | 10/4/2006, 12:44 pm EST

I hope Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon stop this travesty by never letting any band on the face
of the earth try to attempt the one and only “Bohemian Rhapsody”!
Not even those three could compensate today for the loss of a great vocalist and frontman like
Freddie!

-GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!

Ed Anger | 10/4/2006, 12:52 pm EST

When I first read this, the first thing that came to my mind was…

“Is This The Real Life, Is This Just Fantasy!”

Brittany | 10/4/2006, 3:08 pm EST

Isnt the point of being a muscian being able to express your talent however that might be? Who are we to judge what they think is great. it’s their career afterall.

Greg | 10/4/2006, 4:27 pm EST

All I can say to them is good luck! I guess you gotta have some balls to attempt “Bohemian Rhapsody”. Although, I just don’t wanna hear thousands of 13 year-old suburban kids saying how much their version is better than “Queen”. Because frankly, it doesn’t matter how much you love “Panic!”, their “Rhapsody” just won’t live up to the original.

Greg | 10/4/2006, 4:28 pm EST

All I can say to them is good luck! I guess you gotta have some balls to attempt “Bohemian Rhapsody”. Although, I just don’t wanna hear thousands of preppy suburban kids saying how much their version is better than “Queen”. Because frankly, it doesn’t matter how much you love “Panic!”, their “Rhapsody” just won’t live up to the original.

natalie | 10/4/2006, 8:26 pm EST

I love Panic!, but come on.
First they cover Smashing Pumpkins and Radiohead, and now they want to do Queen? They’re good, but not that good. I think the whole arena tour is kind of a bad idea anyway; I mean, they’ve got 13 songs…
I hope they don’t make fools out of themselves by going through with this. I hate watching people embarass themselves.

natalie | 10/4/2006, 8:30 pm EST

Oh, and please. Don’t generalize. I’m 13; not all of us have bad music taste. I’d choose The Smiths or Queen over Panic! At the Disco anyday. Not that Panic! isn’t talented… but they haven’t even been band for two years.

Me. | 10/5/2006, 7:01 pm EST

Well, I love Panic! at the disco, and I really loved the covers they’ve done so far and their whole album.. but anyways, I believe Bohemian Rhapsody is REALLY difficult for ANY band that is not Queen.. it’s just.. written for them and no one else.. Panic! is great, and if they decide to cover the song, I’m really sure they might surprise me with it. I just hope it’s good.

pk | 10/5/2006, 10:10 pm EST

They’ll probably murder that song.
What’s next?! Stairway To Heaven?!

Me. | 10/6/2006, 4:51 pm EST

It WOULD be great if they did Stairways to heaven =D

pk | 10/7/2006, 5:27 pm EST

ya ya ya next

pk | 11/11/2006, 3:23 am EST

Honestly, I think My Chemical Romance would do a WAY better job covering Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen.

ao7hin | 4/9/2007, 5:41 pm EST

Please don’t let this ‘band’ butcher any more songs. They’ve already ruined Karma Police, they shouldn’t be allowed to ruin any more decent songs.

Luxx | 4/3/2008, 7:25 pm EST

Please stick to covering K-Ci & Jojo & Britney Spears.

P.S. you can keep all your tween fans.

Fuji | 4/8/2008, 11:19 pm EST

(The fallowing is My Opinion and I do not wish to arguer with anyone, I have a right to state my Opinion as much as anyone here)
I personally think the people who are criticizing Panic for their singing, all live in a tinny box. (and don’t know the difference between a crescendo and a concert B flat.) You expect everything to be the exact same as you have always known it and call people slanderous names simply for doing something different. Panic is Panic, not anyone else, just Panic, so don’t expect them to be who they’re not. Don’t expect them to conform to the little box this world hides in. They make the songs they sing their own and they are unique because of that, they aren’t here to make everyone happy, just the people willing to let them.
