To all you calling Avril a poser, it is funny how that self-proclaimed punk police go around on the internet dissing pop-punk artists and others, calling them posers etc., and saying if you want to hear real punk rock listen to the Sex pistols or the Ramones. (I am not referring to you guys in this post).

I suppose the question might be asked just how punk were the Sex pistols? You can arguable say that the Sex Pistols sold out too, the Sex Pistols loved to preach anarchy and attack the establishment, they were always painfully obvious that they were in it for the money. They recruited Sid Vicious to the band because they liked his image. They have even repackaged and re-released their material repeatedly. In their 1996 reunion tour was even called the Filthy Lucre Tour! (Fithy Rich Tour) And both times the band reformed, they’ve publicly admitted they did it because the money was right. So one might ask the question were the Sex Pistols really true punk or were they just sell outs too? (Many others say the same basic things about the Ramones as well.)

These are just a few bands often referred to as true punk rockers, Richard Hell, The Ramones, Sex Pistols, Iggy, The Stooges, The Clash, Misfits, Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers, etc., etc., etc. But when you take a closer examination of most of these artist and bands you will see that most fall short of what true punk really is.
