Playlist of the Day: Songs About Beer

9/27/06, 5:55 pm EST

OktoberfestThe only thing we really know about Oktoberfest is that it involves beer drinking in Germany, but that’s plenty to get excited about. In honor of the annual festival, which traditionally takes place during late September and early October, we thought up this little Oktoberfest playlist for ya. Not that we’ve personally tested it (you know we only drink Zima) but we suspect these songs go well with lager. And, as always, please share your own song picks.

  • Black Flag, “Six Pack”
  • Dead Kennedys, “Too Drunk To Fuck”
  • Sublime, “40 Oz. To Freedom”
  • David Byrne, “The Man Who Loved Beer”
  • The Pogues, “A Pair Of Brown Eyes”
  • Beck, “Beercan”
  • John Lee Hooker, “One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer”
  • Memphis Slim, “Beer Drinkin’ Woman”
  • Tom Waits, “Warm Beer And Cold Women”
  • Wilco, “Passenger Side”

Listen to the whole Oktoberfest playlist.

Ignorance is a big problem for Elizabeth Goodman. “The Man Who Loved Beer,” as easily found by any research, was written and originally performed by Lampchop. Byrne is a fan of theirs; clearly Goodman is not.

    Beer bong, by NOFX!!

    Foxie Cat | 10/1/2006, 6:34 pm EST

    NOFX Beer Bong Lyrics

    If I want some beer,
    I don’t want to hear,
    How I missed the show,
    Because I drink to slow,
So pass me the beer bong,
    It won’t take very long,
    For me to put down,
    Torpedo to the ground.

    Because drinking beer’s to slow,
Beer bong’s the way to go,
    To go,
    To go,
    Don’t drink, too slow

Beer Bong, Beer Bong, Beer Bong, Beer Bong

    If I want some beer,
    I don’t want to hear,
    How I missed the show,
    Because I drink to slow,
So pass me the beer bong,
    It won’t take very long,
    For me to put down,
    Torpedo to the ground.

    Because drinking beer’s to slow,
Beer bong’s the way to go,
    To go,
    To go,
    Don’t drink, too slow

Beer Bong, Beer Bong, Drink it down now

NOT ENUFF BEER N TEXAS (2 make me fall n love with U)
Oh lord what did I do last night?
I got a feeling that it wasn’t quite right.
Besides this pounding in my head
And this wishing I was dead You ought to see what is lying in my bed…I should have been able to tell her my personal point of view
but liquor blinded my eyes and tied my tongue in two. I usually have high standards but mornings worst fear came true..there’s not enuff beer n Texas to make me fall in love with you..
