THE LATEST: Yesterday we reported that the wedding of Kate Moss to Pete Doherty might be, like, for real, on. Pete’s post-rehab activities certainly reaffirm that suggestion, as the rocker and his girlfriend reportedly made out like teenagers at Heathrow airport after his release. The pair were on their way to Ireland where Babyshambles was scheduled to play the first of several dates. According to the Babyshambles Web site, the singer has Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights off. So that bodes well for the wedding thing, but he has also earned a mysterious giant shiner on his right eye, which could be a wedding photo dealbreaker for anyone else. To be continued.

Why does rolling stone think that anyone in America gives a shit about Pete Doherty?
Vintage | 9/26/2006, 4:51 pm EST
Why does anyone care about this untalented druggie?
Loot | 9/26/2006, 5:03 pm EST
He’s like Motley Crue, they just won’t die. Please die, please.
evan | 9/26/2006, 5:21 pm EST
i’d rather loot die, at least pete has some talent.
rockstar 70 | 9/26/2006, 5:39 pm EST
PLEASE!!! I’m sure Motley Crue have played to more people last night than Pete has played to his entire life!!! Why do we waste time on this retard!!
sigrún | 9/26/2006, 7:25 pm EST
to julian: you’re right, America doesn’t give a shit about good music, I mean you have lots of it (sufjan stevens, bright eyes etc.) but you choose to ignore it
to rockstar 70: do you really mesure musicians talent in the amount of people they play to? because I’m sure 50 cent and Britney have played to much bigger crowds than Motley Crue. But then again, you probably think they’re “freakin awsome duuuude”
johnny | 9/26/2006, 10:03 pm EST
will RS please get off Petes nuts. Why do i have to hear about him what seems like every issue and every day on the site. BOO
midevil | 9/26/2006, 10:06 pm EST
I like Petey, he’s kinda cute. I like the Libertines, they have some catchy beats. I’m curious to see what will happen with Petey and whether he’ll bow down before the temptation. He needs to take a few lessons from the pros on drug management. Poor thang.
Joe | 9/26/2006, 11:06 pm EST
All that’s good about rock and roll happened at the Superdome last night with U2 and Green Day; all that’s bad about it is summed up in this waste of talent named Pete Doherty. Actually, I’ve never heard a lick of music from this guy, so I don’t know about his level of talent. I just know according to American press, he is only good at shooting up and attracting flies like Kate Moss.
midevil | 9/27/2006, 6:37 am EST
So if you’ve never heard the music, why not give it a listen and decide for yourself? I don’t understand people who just go by the mainstream press. I think Kate Moss is a fly too–her star was descending so she got her talons into an up and coming bit of talent who caught attention through addict behaviour.
Jean Genet | 9/27/2006, 8:21 am EST
Why does anyone in America think anyone anywhere else gives a shit about America (and their little self contained world)?
Roxanne | 9/27/2006, 10:10 am EST
Kate Moss’star is not falling… she is making more money this year than ever before, and was on 3 magazine covers this month alone. midevil MUST be a man.
johhny | 9/27/2006, 10:12 am EST
To joe, so you don’t know anything about his talent yet you believe the stupid idiotic press, who put him in the papers ‘cos he has a drug habit. Come back when you’ve listened to the libertines then have a moan you prick!!
Joe | 9/27/2006, 10:49 am EST
Uhmmm, I never said I BELIEVED the American press, but it is pretty apparent that he has a drug problem and that he’s wasting his talent on it. If as you all say the Libertines/Babyshambles are good, imagine how much better they’d be if Pete kicked the junk (Kate included).
Soco | 9/27/2006, 11:17 am EST
Watching trash die is fun!
James | 9/27/2006, 11:50 am EST
Joe, there is no need to respond so angrily, with further moronic repetition of what you have heard from the press, just because somebody pointed out that you have no right to an opinion, not having heard any of Mr Doherty’s music. Reading your comments leaves me appalled and satisfied. Appalled at your idiocy and audacity to post your ridiculous comments on the internet and satisfied at your confirming my view that many people are pretencious, mindless malcontents. Why comment on Pete Doherty if you dont have a clue about who he is? Go and punish yourself.

“Actually, I’ve never heard a lick of music from this guy, so I don’t know about his level of talent”
All of you people bleating about Pete Doherty, without having listened to his work, try listening then, you might just like it. Go to http://www.albionarks.com and download one of the acoustic sessions that young mr Doherty has given out to his fans over the last few years. I personally reccomend ‘Acousticalullaby’. This might give you a better impression of the fella’s talents.
midevil | 9/27/2006, 1:14 pm EST
Roxanne,
My point was, Kate Moss’ star Was Falling until she got caught snortingcoke with Petey. Now, because of all the attention Petey is getting, she’s getting gigs again.
Man? Please. I’m a woman. But thanks for trying anyway.
henry | 9/27/2006, 1:23 pm EST
but he has kicked his habit. he did 6 weeks in rehab.
Soco | 9/27/2006, 1:26 pm EST

Does anyone here speak English? Please translate what “WASTE OF TALENT” means. Wasting inherent talent. His drug problem has been crippling him in the past, and I stated that the American press only concentrates on his romance and his habit. Since I have not heard any of his music, that’s all I know about him. And his drug DISEASE I’m sure has taken his talent and wasted it. It will be very interesting to see how he responds musically and personally. This is more of a shot at the press’s reaction than anything else. Personally, it’s just sad to see someone who can’t control their habit. I hope he kicks it. If he can get an album and small tour out clean, I’ll support him and bury myself in his past catalogue. Until then, I’ll try to block out the mental pictures of him shooting up/”drawing blood from” an unconscious woman.

Drug addicts do not have a disease, they are just weak minded fairies who are too scared to take control of their own lives. Oh, wait a minute, this is the same generation that also considers obesity a disease. All these addicts and fat fucks need is a swift kick in the ass or a good punch to the head to snap them back to reality.
Harry Box | 9/27/2006, 3:37 pm EST
Crackers can’t handle their drugs. I hope he dies soon.
JoJo | 9/27/2006, 3:43 pm EST
Listen to John – go to albionarks and download Pete’s music for FREE, and pay close attention to the lyrics. Talentless I think not. Listen to the MUSIC before you judge him, instead of sucking tabloid cock!!
mack | 9/27/2006, 5:27 pm EST
i’m an american and i love pete doherty’s music and craziness…England is rockin right now…most of you are ignorant to this fact…check him out he’s more than a druggie…
Joe | 9/27/2006, 7:33 pm EST
Did Kurt Cobain waste his talent? How about Bradley Nowell? Three or four great albums between them and gone. How wonderful would it be to have them alive and kicking out jams today? In my humble opinion, it is not better to burn out than fade away. I sincerely hope Mr. Pete Doherty can fade away, after a long career and healthy retirement. Having listened to “Vertigo” by the Libertines so far, good stuff. But when I say waste of talent, he is wasting his talent on drugs. Good luck, Pete. Stay clean and sober and realize who you are. I am done here. I apologize for offending anyone, but I stand by my opinion.
James | 9/28/2006, 8:43 am EST
Pete still writes good songs, even when fucked out of his head. The talent hasn’t been wasted until he is dead. His drug addiction isn’t anyone’s business, regardless of whats in the rag. However, if you are into gossip columns instead of music, then I won’t hasle those who would prefer to bitch about Pete’s private life. Go ahead and become your grandparents, its your life.

hmmmmmmm…..i wonder how i would feel if i paid good money for a show where the lead singer showed up late, spun out of his gourd, played 2 songs off key and incoherent and left yelling obscenities at the crowd. oh well, not my business. And so rock and roll, too!!! how awesome is that? (sigh) pete doherty, meet scott stapp.
